I wouldn’t want this farmers market to go away for one key reason: The pupusa stand. Damn, I didn’t know I even liked pupusas until these two lovely ladies made me some squash pupusas. They’re $ 2 each and delicious. The ladies also are always there and ready to take customers at 2pm. I say this because even though the market says it’s open from 2 – 7, no one else is ready at 2. Between 2 – 3 most vendors are just driving up and setting up their stands. This lack of punctuality drives me crazy. So if you want a great pupusa roll on by at 2; otherwise, wait till 4pm.

Charming small market that is perfect to go and enjoy some sunshine, drink fresh fruit juices, stock you fridge for the week and get a healthy look on life. Not to mention you get to help support local growers!

I don’t know why they even bother with this farmers market. Put it out of its misery. Nothing special offered.

The Lawndale Farmer’s Market operates every Wednesday from 2 – 7 pm. It is relatively small, with approximately 4 – 5 produce vendors, 1 pupusa stand, 1 kettle corn stand, 1 middle eastern products stand, 1 nuts stand, 1 taco stand, and now, a Thai stand. The produce is nothing to write home about. Nothing comes from a cool farm or is some rare, esoteric variety. Although, I did spot some cherimoya fruit today. I happen to be a fan of the kettle corn standardly priced at $ 2/$ 4/$ 6 for SML bags, respectively. The pupusas are really good too, hand formed and stuffed and griddled before you. They cost $ 4 each I think and take like 10 minutes to cook. My favorites are the ones with the meat b/c the bean and cheese one is bland. I think the Taco stand is expensive. $ 2 taco. I could do better at the roach coach down the street and I don’t even know who you are lady! They do sell Agua Frescas though at $ 2/cup and the Jamaica is good but sweet. This place has the potential to be SUPERDAMNEDCOOL if some more ethnic eateries in the area took advantage of it to serve cheaper eats.
