I had the quarder and fries. The quarder tasted alright. However, the fries were extremely greasy! The greasiness of the food was a big turn-off. I’m not a fan of root beer, but I had to try the root beer. It wasn’t bad. Tasted pretty sweet. Just an average restaurant. I probably won’t return. Definitely wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here.

The best chili hamburger joint ever! I typical frequent the one in Heiliburg when I’m in Mississippi because it’s the closest to my mom’s house. Get the«Big One» combo and you can’t go wrong! Love it!

Not as good as I’d hoped, but worth a try if, like me, you’ve never visited a Ward’s before. This is a small chain of fast food burger and chili dog joints with numerous locations across Mississippi. After becoming frustrated with the slack-jawed workers at the Hardee’s just off the Interstate we drove on to try something new: Ward’s. Though I might have been better off with a chili dog, I had to get back on the road with my travel companions and so chose a «Big One» burger combo. This is apparently Ward’s marquee burger, and, sadly, wasn’t very«big.» The single patty was very thin and ended up being one of those experiences where you feel like you are getting more toppings than meat. Maybe it was just an off night. I should note that Ward’s offers the option to add chili and cheese to the burger, so that might have made the experience more interesting. Too messy for eating in a car though. The fries, on the other hand, while rather plain, were very tasty. I could have eaten more of them. Since I am such an adventurous traveler, I had to pass up my usual beverage to try some of «Ward’s Root Beer» which is another signature product. It was a little too sweet and sticky for my taste. It tasted like it might have been flavored with high fructose corn syrup, so I was a little bummed. The service was entertaining in and of itself, as the teenaged girl working the counter was very, very friendly and talkative and had a strong accent. You don’t hear them that strong in Florida very much anymore. All-in-all, if you are a local, I’m sure you’ve known about Ward’s your whole life and already have an opinion. If you are a traveler, like I was, I’d recommend trying Ward’s if you only have time for fast food as you are traveling through town. After all, why not try something new that you might like, instead of eating yet another McWhatever?
