I am forced by this app to put a star that they don’t even deserve. The seafood bisque is not hot and looks like a bouillon soup with dried shrimp that you can buy in FOODFORLESS. The salad that they served are all stalks of romaine lettuce that you will never ever put on your plate at home. Not even enough water to fill your stomach.

Very good food & great service. We tried the lighter menu special a sampler style menu which @ $ 59 included: appetizer to split, salad to split, three choices from their entrée menu(smaller than entrée portions) and choice if dessert. It was a very good meal, mushrooms in brioche, house chopped salad, lobster risotto, steak in peppercorn sauce — all very good. No complaints. One weird thing was there were very –and I mean VERY — few people dining. Maybe they get a later crowd. Maybe it’s the economy. As other reviews have mentioned, the chef makes the rounds to check on the meal. This was a bit much. Not looking to yuck it up with a wanna-be celebrity. Just let me enjoy my meal in peace.

if i was to rate them in one word it would be YUKKKKKK. when it comes to high end restaurants this is the worse on the river. our experience started with the rudest host i ever had in my life. then the waiter who was nice was not that knowledgeable of there menu or how things was prepared. the steak was over cooked and wife liked it a little more then me but again i was disgusted. will never again go back or suggest them. hickory pit or salt grass are way better choices.

Granny’s is located in a unlikely hotel/casino. The Pioneer looks like an old cowboy town on the outside with an old sawdust on the floor type saloon on the casino interior but just up a set of stairs just inside the front doors is Granny’s, a diamond in the rough. The food is outstanding and reasonably priced for what you get. Don’t be fooled by signs promoting 14.99 steak and lobster or all you can eat ribs that is another restaurant in the hotel. I went with a party of three. The freshly baked sour dough bread served on a wooden cutting board with whipped butter was the perfect start to the perfect meal. We all had the jumbo prawn cocktail which was fresh and tasty. Me and my father both had the spinach salad with warm bacon dressing which was prepared table side and was quite possibly the greatest salad I have ever eaten, while my step-mother had the ceaser salad which was also prepared table side was fresh, crisp and enjoyed. For the main course I had the English cut prime rib with roasted asparagus and risotto cake… Awesomely tender meat and delicious sides. While my parents enjoyed melt in your mouth filet mignon and tournedos Bellevue which according to my father was cooked to perfection, both the beef and lobster. Something I have never experienced in Laughlin or even Chicago for that matter, before is a chef coming out to make sure the meal was to our liking, which of course it was. He said«thank you I try to put my heart and soul on every plate.». Which is obviously true because everything was beautifully plated and oh so tasty. I finished off my meal with bananas foster also prepared table side, which was the perfect end to the most delicious meal. The service was outstanding our waiter Bobby was Johnny on the spot with whatever we needed and perfectly prepared all the table side food that we ordered. We left a 35% tips which is unusual for us. Usually because we receive par or sub-par service. We start at 15% and go up or down based on service… So that should tell you the level of service that was received. Bottom line: in Laughlin area? Looking for tasty food? GOTO Granny’s!!! And absolutely order the spinach salad and bananas foster.

After over a year’s absence, Granny’s is back at the Pioneer. With forest green high-backed chairs and booths, light green tablecloths, and carpeting featuring shades of green and pink, the romantic, old Victorian charm is still there. Some kinks definitely need to be ironed out, but the promise of restored gourmet glory is in the air. When my party of three arrived at our reserved dining time, the hostess stand was vacant. In fact, it took almost five minutes for someone to appear and seat us. But once we were settled, our booth was quite comfortable, and a tenor singing in Italian from overhead speakers added to the old world ambiance. Excellent hot and crackling sourdough bread that was soft on the inside and hard on the outside joined to soft butter opened the dinner with smiles all around. A Jumbo Prawns Cocktail was presented with four very large prawns partially sunk into a mound of mild red Cocktail Sauce. Billed as «chilled,» a more accurate description would be «cool.» These shelled crustaceans were good and tasty but not really memorable. But the Onion Soup Gratinee was! Very cheesy on top with blended Gruyère and Swiss Cheeses, a nicely melting bread croûton within and a hot, rich broth swirling around numerous caramelized sliced onions supplied great disparate but unified tastes. A Spinach Salad that was prepared table-side in the Russian manner and flambeed to wilt fresh spinach leaves and conjure up a hot Bacon Dressing that was plate-lickable, and then topped with cooked egg and slices of Red Onion, was simply delicious. But the piece de resistance was my entrée of Black Forrest Galantine of Chicken, described as an «elegant jambon» «Stuffed with a savory Black Cherry Chicken Mousse» and«finished with a rich chicken demi-glacé accented with green peppercorns and black cherries.» When the bronzed bird arrived at the table it glistened from oil and cracked skin that sloughed off with very little effort. The chicken was as tender as it looked, and brought back memories of goose and chestnuts. and the rich mousse tasted like pâté. A small orchid in the center of the plate and several cooked Black Cherries scattered around the perimeter added some extra color to the feast laid before me. Very tasty Au Gratin Potatoes that were layered with an inventive blend of Gruyère, Swiss, and Mozzarella Cheeses, and sprinkled with tiny Chives, lost heat fast, so I rushed to finish them quicker than I otherwise would. Even worse, garlicky Duchess Potatoes arrived at the table less than lukewarm. But those were the only temperature problems encountered. My mate pronounced the Beef Tenderloin in her Tournedos Bellevue«tough,» but I thought the forkful I sampled was just fine. The dish was devoid of char and cooked perfectly medium rare as she had specified. «You didn’t eat the whole thing!» she countered when we debated the tenderness of the meat. And, she probably has a point. I likely just had a lucky bite. We were dining in a casino after all. But what we both easily agreed on was that the two minute Lobster medallions that accompanied the petite cut of Beef Tenderloin needed serious augmentation. They supplied only about two swallows apiece. Bananas Foster was also prepared table-side and flambeed with Myers’s Rum to close a fine meal, and the resultant sauce spooned over long pieces of Banana and Vanilla Ice Cream was both sweet and tasty, but some of the ice cream’s crystals could be detected by the tongue, which impaired the smoothness of this dessert. Service was very friendly and knowledgeable, but very inconsistent on providing water and Iced Tea refills in the absence of a request. Alas, at present Granny’s is only open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. According to our waiter, business has been increasing weekly, and the restaurant was reopened in response to public demand. Slow Roasted Prime Rib, Prime Rib of Pork Provencale, Grilled Silver Salmon, and a Stuffed Maine Lobster Tail, as well as the Galantine of Chicken, are all worth a look-see by all gourmands visiting lovely Laughlin.
