It was late afternoon so the place was not busy and the waiters jumped right on us and offered me yes and cocktails. The appetizers came with free Peeta bread and humus. We had the stuffed flaming mushrooms with cocktails and they were amazing! Drinks where we’ll made too. Will definitely be back

Went down to the beach wanting Greek food and music on 1÷1÷16. It was a little late so the place was only half full. My gf and I sat outside. 15 Minutes went by until a server came to our table and another 15 minutes until they brought the hummus and bread — only after having to ask for it after it we were told by the server it was coming. The food took another almost 40 minutes and was fair. The service was beyond horrible, bad attitude, and overall out experience wasn’t great. If you want mediocre food and terrible service — go eat there. If you want great Greek food and great service — go to Taverna Greek Islands a little further south. The server should be fired!!!

Overall this place is actually pretty decent. I had the Lemon Chicken Wings and they were amazing, just a bit too pricey for my taste(but good). I also ordered the Fish and Chips which were amazing and very light where most places typically have a heavy breading on the fish. The French fries tasted wonderful and weren’t overly salty either, so overall my meal was very good. I would definitely recommend this place to people!

How disappointing. We have had Thanksgiving dinner at Athena for years, but this year was aweful. No thanksgiving fare in the afternoon, service was poor and the food we did order was average at best. The lamb chops were overcooked… twice, having sent the first ones back. Our waiter was inattentive even though they were not busy — young and poorly trained, most likely. No manager or owners on site.

Awful food. Ordered the spanakopita dinner as an appetizer, the phyllo dough was extremely soggy and came out in less than 5 minutes. The green beans had tomatoes on them which was weird and the potatoes were disgusting and reheated. The whole meal was disappointing especially for being near the beach.

My husband and I met my parents here for lunch. We were not terribly impressed. The rice in the lemon chicken soup was very mushy, the spinach pie was soggy(we sent it back, it was that bad), and the pork souvlaki was just ok — it should have been charbroiled but it tasted like it came out of a crockpot. This place used to be pretty good but now it’s more of a diner than a Greek restaurant. We won’t go back.

Excellent gyro platter! Could not eat it all. Great portion for the price. Only 4 stars due to not being waited on. Had to go ask for service. But once she came we had no problems. Lauderdale by the Sea is an awesome little town. Hopefully I can return some day.

Terrible service. Took someone forever to wait on us then took 30 minutes to just get waters and then half the food came out. The pizza never came. Pan seared tuna was gross. All the food seemed to be frozen then cooked. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone

Love this place and the food. Would have given a higher rating except every time we come here for breakfast they never have milk. Which makes me wonder how can they make waffles and French toast without milk? Ponderous… #getsomemilk

Food and service are consistently excellent and the menu is fairly expansive. Lots of items to choose from. Portions are generous and prices are very reasonable. It was a big hit with my mom, who was a notoriously picky diner before she passed. in February of this year. In fact, since we last ate here together just over a year ago when we took her last trip together, I think I’ll head there for breakfast this morning and enjoy a meal in her honor at one of the tables outside. Trust me, if you dine here, you’ll leave full and very satisfied.

Food: I ordered the lobster roll which was nothing to write home about. I figured since I’m from Texas this place would have way better lobster rolls but nope. The meat is too finely chopped and they put way too much celery and mayonnaise and not enough citrus flavors to it. I did like the orange juice because it was fresh squeezed though. Atmosphere: I loved the location and how the restaurant was laid out so open! When we on a very pretty day and they kept the doors open so it was nice to catch some fresh air while we were eating brunch. Staff: Very nice, they were very children friendly and didn’t seem annoyed at all at my boyfriends 4 year old cousin was running around the table.

I had dinner here six months ago and really liked — so much I though I would eat there again. This visit was less memorable however — first they brought out app out with our salads and then while we’re half way through the first course; here they come with our entrees — bad form Here’s the good news — the humus, Greek salad and fish were good but the spinach pie or spanicopita was amateurish and the canned string beans??? WTF

, this is for second visit to Athena by the sea on a Saturday evening very very good food I had the spinach pie they give you a side of potatoes and wonderful green beans in a tomato base sauce… I am not that much of a string bean eater but they make a really really nice so amazing and we had saganaki fried Greek cheese they do it table side and put the flame right there next to you and it bring you pita bread and hummus if you’re hungry expect to wait a bit especially on a Saturday night because they have live music awesome so get ready for a little hustle and bustle but its worth the wait and the service is good not awesome but very good so come on out and give it a try and expect a wait but its worth every single penny

Athenas is in a great location in LBTS right on the corner. On weekends they have bands right on the street corner in front of the restaurant and it’s a pretty busy spot to eat and drink. We dined on a weeknight and there was no problem getting a table and we had great service. We got a large Greek salad to share and pita and hummus. both items were very tasty. For my main course I had moussaka and the men at the table both ordered the lamb shank. The moussaka was a layered square chunk of eggplant, ground beef and other delicious goodness. It came with some lemon potatoes and string beans. The lamb shank was sitting on top of orzo cooked in a tomato based sauce. Everyone enjoyed their meal with no complaints. The only issue I have with this place is the fact they don’t have a full Greek menu. They have the Greek staples but they have Italian food other sections of there menu. I would have loved to have some falafel and other Greek items but it wasn’t an option.

This is one of those“on the fence” restaurants. I’ll start by saying that the food and coffee were very good. The service was a joke though and so are the personalities of all the staff we encountered. We walked up to the hostess who didn’t appear to be doing anything and said«3 please.» She looked down and hastily said«just a minute,» as if we had annoyed her by walking up to her podium. It went downhill from there until the food FINALLY arrived. It took probably 10 minutes for our coffee to come out and when it did my friend had something floating in hers. She fished out an entire sugar packet(still in the paper packet) and sent it back. From that moment forward our waiter did not hide his stress and was obviously completely overwhelmed. While I felt for the guy I do find it inappropriate to say to a customer that«I’m pissed cause I’m supposed to work the bar» and«I’ll never serve again.» We tried to laugh it off but it was super awkward and uncomfortable. Our food took at least 45 minutes to an hour to come out. Our waiter asked as he quickly walked by «how is everything?» But was gone before we could answer. Alright so the food is what earns the place its stars. The omelettes eggs and French toast were very good. The corn beef hash tasted like it was from a can but everything else and coffee were yummy. They were out of hash browns so the waiter made the executive decision that French fries with an omelette were a fine substitute lol When we asked for our check the waiter thanked us for our patience but eh… Damage done sorry.

This place is a joke! The service is terrible, and the food took over 30 minutes… Even though they have live music forget it… You will loose two hours of your life in their non existent service…

Great food by the beach on Commercial. Sat by the street to watch the cars drive by on Ocean Dr. Ordered the eggs Benedict and it was perfect. The eggs were cooked to perfection and it was a great portion. Came with home fries and toast. This might be my favorite place by the beach on the end of Commercial.

Athena renovated the entire restaurant a few months ago, now they have an excellent bar area with big screens and plenty of drink selections. They also tore the walls down and replaced them with door/windows that open up giving the restaurant a great open air ambiance. The hummus is delicious and the pita is thick and warm — very good. Being a local place I frequent Athena often and have never been disappointed, also can’t beat the ½ priced drinks/beer/wine at HAPPYHOUR7 days a week 5pm-7pm.

Today I like to describe the Greek Restaurant Athena by the Sea in Fort Lauderdale next to the fishing pier. I visited it several times last year and also this year. As a starter guests always get some Hummus, a purée prepared out of chickpea, garlic, oliveoil and.(who knows). Believe me, you will love it and get it served with Pitabread. As maindish I ordered a bigger plate of grilled octopus what is normally a starter, but if you order some additional green beans and potatoes it will be enough for sure with another starter(e.g. Saganaki a traditional greek fried cheese). Saganaki will be served burning, and extinguished with lemon and a loud typical greek Hoppa from the waiter. Service is very polite and attentive. I like this very much and in my opinion it deserves 5 of 5 possible stars. Kali Orexi(means enyou your meal).
