We love staying at the Wingate in Lancaster, so I decided to give this one a try. I was not disappointed. This property adheres to the standards you would expect from a Wingate. There is a work out room, hot tub, free cookies and free hot breakfast. It was so identical to the one we previously stayed in we could hardly tell the difference. That’s a positive to me when staying at a moderate chain hotel. Although not pretty, the location was really ideal. You can walk to a pharmacy, an Aldi or even shop Giant Eagle. With a microwave and fridge in your room it helps keep costs down. Right next door there is a good restaurant called Sharkey’s Pier which served up tasty food at good prices. For us we were only 15 minutes to our destination — idlewild park. It really served as a great base camp. Two minor complaints is that our room smelled musty, but we saw no evidence of mold, and my husband said the whirlpool needed some adjustment as it was too rough. Other than that, friendly staff, clean. Great place!

My parents are currently stuck here because someone cancelled their reservation they made months ago, a supervisor within the hotel cancelled it. How is this a way to do business? A wedding party and steelers camp are going on now so they may be booked when my parents made reservations months ago. Unless you want to show up and have no where to stay, pick another hotel.

So, it’s not a 5 star hotel, but the service sure was. From check in to check out — everyone was nice, friendly and helpful. I wasn’t here for the amenities, just needed somewhere to stay before beginning the second leg of my trip after arriving at the airport. The business office, gym and whirlpool were unexpected and welcome. The included morning breakfast was better than most hotel offerings — scrambled eggs and actual fruit! Everything was meticulously clean and the room was well laid out. I travel this way frequently and will stay here again.

We really enjoyed the motel. The room was clean. Most importantly the beds and pillows were comfortable. The breakfast was pretty good too. We will stay here again when we are back in town.

Even though Latrobe isn’t ‘far’ from Pittsburgh, it’s far enough that I know nothing about it. Rosie, the person who checked us in, was very nice and very helpful in suggesting restaurants in the area. Wingates are made to be smaller because they are cheaper, so I had no problem with the room size or other accommodations. You are not paying for a 5 star place here, so don’t expect room service and chocolates on the pillow. The room was clean, the towels were fresh and the breakfast was better than your normal continental breakfast. There is even a small gym! The only hiccup was I booked a room with one of those huge jet bathtubs and the room we got did not have it. I could have complained said something but I didn’t so I can’t complain about that now. All in all it was an enjoyable stay and a wonderful long weekend with the BF!

Worst check in service ever, so rude and unhelpful. I’ve never seen so many cleaning maids, yet so few results. If you have a choice, don’t stay here

Although the Wyndham motel brand is one that I seek when I travel, their secondary brands are less desireable. There is nothing unique about the Latrobe Wingate to raise it above, but similarly, nothing which isn’t functionally adequate as a business motel. Recently renovated, this highway location property is clean and adequately serviced. WiFi is said to be present in each room, but this was one motel stay where I merely slept and prepared for the next day. The free breakfast is always a welcomed touch, but this one is nothing to get excited about.
