Food is horrible. No taste. Biryani sucked. Tikka chicken masala had no taste. Even gulab jamun was horrible. The tandoori chicken was bland and smelled funny. Chicken biryani was just rice without chicken pieces.

I had to round it up to a 4* review from a 3.5 since they have been very generous in bringing out hot and buttery naan right to the table! I’ve been here a handful of times for the lunch buffet(they are closed on Mondays) and a few times for their regular menu. It is Pakistani — Indian food that is served so you can’t come in and expect the full Indian experience. With that in mind, you can enjoy basmati rice, vegetable biryani, pakora, aloo gobi, aloo palak, chana dal, tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, papadum, naan, kheer, and gulab jamun… all on the buffet line. So about 8 hot items that rotate, 2 cold items, self-help soda/tea machine, and 2 kinds of desserts… all for under 10 bucks a person. I’d say very reasonable lunch price and I think the choices differ slightly on the weekend brunch tagged with a slightly higher price point. This is a good place to try if you want to sample a variety of dishes in one sitting! If not, I’d recommend having items off their regular menu. The regular menu items deserve more applause for flavor and spice. I like being able to ask for more heat if need be and also expanding my palate with more authentic flavors. The shahi qorma, paneer jalfrezi, vegetable samosa, and chicken tikka masala are out of this world! They seem to get pretty busy on weekday lunches, lots of office people on break come and satisfy their hunger!

Some of the best biryani I have ever eaten. This was my first Pakistani biryani, and it was really good. I would recommend the chef special biryani, has a lot of flavor.

This place is pretty decent. I like this one more than the famous Karavalli. Few things are little pricy but that is ok. They usually have good deals on their Biryanies. Service is also good. This is not the best Indian/Pakistani food I ever had but considering I am in the Capital region, this is my go-to place for my Indian food craving.

Reception and service was very bad. We had to enter and wait for a person to show us a table. The waitress was standing near reception, but, she did not receive us. Coming to service, we were not very satisfied. When we asked for sugar in juice, she took it inside and came back telling, add it from the table. And for the wrap up of food, she gave the box to us and told us to wrap it ourselves. This is the first time I have seen such thing. I would not like to go back again.

This is one of those restaurants that you know you will never go back again. We were in Latham area so planned to try out this restaurant which we pass often. Hugely disappointed. We ordered palak paneer which tasted like precooked frozen food warmed in a microwave.(In fact those taste better). We love the Egg biriyani from Niravana Indian restaurant in Guilderland so we thought we will give it a try at Biriyani Pointe. But it was strictly ok and it lacked taste. The masoor dal smelled something weird and was begging not to be eaten. We came to a conclusion that the best dish was the bread(chapati). Service was decent but I would definitely not eat at a restaurant while watching the carpet being cleaned. Would have loved to miss this restaurant.

This is an excellent example of Indian food in Latham which has become our go to takeout spot for Indian. Set in an unassuming building that looks like it used to be a Pizza Hut, these people serve up solid typical Indian fare at good prices. The times we’ve gotten takeout we’ve had chicken curry, the vindaloo and a couple of vegetable options. All, although not the best I’ve had, were flavorful and delicious. The nann was just ok however… too thin and crackery. For a drink I got a mango lasi and it was great. Service was fast and very friendly. Other than Karavalli, this is the other option for Indian in Latham.

Latham Biryani is pound for pound my favorite Indian restaurant in the area in terms of bang for your buck. Their namesake biryani is my favorite dish and always flavorful while they do a fair job of keeping the spiciness of the food to the ordered preference. Their nan is my only hesitation in the restaurant as I have had mixed quality of it from it being over cooked to just right.

This place has time and time again given me a fantastic, authentic Indian dinning experience. The staff is very friendly and they’re food is phenomenal in every way. They’re Biryani has the perfect spice and flavoring, but all the means I’ve tried so far have been very enjoyable both at the table and for leftovers. The Egg Biryani is my personal favorite. I definitely recommend this place for date night or a group outing.

I always check Unilocal to see reviews before I bother with a place. This place seemed like a good choice so I called in my order for pick up. I just finished eating my takeout and what a disappointment! First of all, I went inside to pick up my order and had to wait close to 10 minutes as no less than 3 employees stood by looking at me with no intention of asking if they could help. THEPLACEWASEMPTY. Finally the owner came over to take my money. I ordered channa masala and it was in a SMALL container. There was a larger container of rice and a piece of garlic naan. A lunch portion for sure, yet the total was $ 15.01! A rip-off I only discovered when I arrived home. The channa masala was watery and nearly flavorless. I thought this was supposed to be Indian food! I will say my lips tingled a bit from heat, but the spice was nearly non-existent. The only saving grace was the naan, and the only way you can screw that up is by burning it. Needless to say, I won’t be back. I should have noticed nearly everyone was raving about the lamb, but I don’t eat meat.

This is definitely the best Indian food I’ve had in the capital region. I started with the masala chai tea — spiced and rich, it was so tasty! For an appetizer my girlfriend and I split an order of veggie samosas — filled with peas and potatoes. Yum. For the meal we split aloo gobi(potato cauliflower) and Chana palak(chickpeas and spinach. I may be remembering the name wrong). We had every intention of having leftovers but the meal was so good we couldn’t stop eating. Basically a really awesome meal all around and at a reasonable price. I definitely recommend it!

Being students, we often crave authentic Indian/Pakistani food. Latham Biryani delivers every single time. I order the Lamb Biryani every time, without fail, and it always tastes amazing! The portions are pretty big and I always end up taking half of it home. It costs around 12 $. Their Kheer(rice pudding type of dessert) is to-die-for. It is creamy and tasty. All in all my bill usually comes up to around $ 16+ with a Biryani and Kheer. They have varying spice levels for their food and I always get the 7 which is spicy but doesn’t set my mouth on fire. If you would prefer your food to be tasty but not too spicy, try ordering the 5. Also, their service is consistently friendly and welcoming. The family that runs this place is always fun to talk to. Latham Biryani is pretty much one of the best joints for Indian/Pakistani food in the Troy-Albany-Latham area. I recommend trying some Samosas for starters, Biryani(lamb/egg/goat/chicken) for the main course and ending with the Kheer.

Lunch buffet for $ 7.99 on weekdays, and a little more expensive on weekends and it was way better. Don’t forget to ask for the point card so you can get a free meal one day :)

My most recent trip here for their lunch buffet was very disappointing. Many of the items on the buffet were a bit more bland in flavor than I last remembered. The best item, the tandoori chicken, had the right flavor and tenderness, but it was bite-sized pieces with bones. There was no naan available during my entire time there. The most disappointing part was dessert. As I was spooning some kheer into my bowl, I discovered a single«raisin» — with 6 legs and wings — not on the kheer but IN it. Once stirring rescued it, it began crawling around the spoon doing all sorts of «fly things» to its little heart’s content, and it remained there exploring. With so many restaurants offering a lunch buffet in the area, you have to be competitive with price and/or quality. They are certainly competitive price-wise, but unless they can once again kick the flavor up a notch, I’ll certainly consider other options.

for lunch buffet, this is a great find. First, they have all the«basics» down pat… food is always ready on time; kept hot, replensihed as necessary. NEVER disappointing. The food is very good, the buffet offering is different from day to day, and, from my perspective, they use the most HEALTHFUL cooking recipes in the area(for Indian/Pakistani food). Minimal oil in most dishes; not a lot of cream(except in the creamy dishes like vegetable korma, etc.). Very comfortable atmosphere; friendly greeting and service. And a few $$ less than the«other» Latham Indian Buffet option. Also includes self serve soda station, chat station and dessert… and green tea. Definitely give them a try. I go here almost every week.

Considering we have traveled to Nepal and have actually had the opportunity to eat real Nepali food. This place is a far cry from that and anything delicious or anything with any flavor for that matter. I would suggest staying away from this place, not only will you save your money but you can get a better meal at Mc Donalds. We ordered quite a few things so it’s just not one dish that sucked but many, the naan was chewy and too thick. I thought my car tire had more flavor and freshness. When you open a fresh basket of naan it should have a great smell that not only excites you about the meal, but it should open your senses to the meal you about to eat, All this naan did was end up in the trash, it was even inedible for my dog, even he deserves better. Palak Paneer it was like grass clippings with no spices, the paneer was flavor less and had a funny smell. It was just GROSS. Tamarind Chutney was bitter and disgusting, we also tried the samosas, they were basically unseasoned and were not made by anyone with any culinary experience in indian food. Shrimp Tikkamasala has almost a spaghetti flavor to it and was very oily and was covered with severely over cooked and rubbery shrimp. The kheer should of had a wonderful smell to it, but again due to the lack of proper preparation it was bland and flavorless. It was a disappointing end to a crappy dinner. It’s always a bad sign when you walk into a restaurant at dinner time and you are the only one there. That should of been my warning to stay away.

Unfortunately 2.5 Stars will be given to this place from me. This is only the second Indian restaurant I have been to in my life. I have not eaten Indian food in years after getting really sick. I broke down and decided to give it another shot. When my girlfriend and I arrived there was only two tables occupied. The building for sure was previously a pizza hut, but at least they were trying to decorate it well. The colors were nice, the chairs were very comfortable although all the fake flowers make me only think of DUST. It look a little while to decide on what to order cause I did not know what anything was. We both ordered mango lassies to drink and chana chaat (chickpeas, potatoes and onions *served cold*) for a appetizer. It had very little flavor but for a strong black pepper taste. They offered a complimentary really thin strongly spiced cracker thing which I later found out to be called poppadom. To sum it up in one word I would say different lol a very interesting snack indeed. Entrees we went with Tandoori shrimp and Tandoori chicken. I also ordered Palek Paneer(spinach with homemade cheese) as well as the Chef’s special naan. The chicken dish which were thighs was probably the most decent thing we ordered even though I do not care for dark meat much. It was a very vibrant orange color. The shrimp dish was HORRIBLE for 14.95 they were very small and extremely overcooked. All I could think was that I wanted them to take it back when it was placed on the table. The spinach dish was a very unappetizing color of a baby’s dirty diaper not a pretty vibrant green color like I expected. The naan bread was not good it was not very warm or fluffy when it came out very disappointing. We were the only caucasian people there which I thought to be a good authentic food sign but… the whole time we were there around dinner time there was only a few other tables which I found odd. The staff were very nice just a little slow for the amount of business that was going on. I used the restroom during my visit and found it to be right around gas station cleanliness :-(hope it was better in the kitchen! All of the clientele were muslim which constantly eye balled me and my girlfriend which made it a unpleasant visit. I have nothing to compare the food to as far as being good or bad or authentic… I am just judging it by my OWN personal taste. I don’t think the food and the spices they use are my cup of Chai Tea lol. I will although give it another shot sometime to try more food out of my comfort zone.

Since my first visit to Biryani several months ago, I have become a regular here. I’ve tried a variety of items on the menu and have been very pleased with all my selections. The flavors at Biryani are wonderful and always consistent, and the meats are of good quality and very tender. The menu is pretty extensive, offering a number of vegetarian dishes, plus options of chicken, beef, lamb, goat, shrimp and fish. Some of my favorites include the tandoori dishes, chicken tikka masala and chicken qorma. I love the mango lassi and masala chai, which is definitely homemade. The problem that I mentioned in my previous review about some meat dishes being a little too oily has not occurred again. Is this the best Indian/Pakistani food in the area? Well, I haven’t tried them all. But I have tried several, and it’s definitely up there. And the value is certainly outstanding. Prices are very reasonable given the quality of the food and portion sizes. This means you have no excuse not to try Biryani. You will not regret it. Entrees are mostly around $ 10; they start at about $ 7 for vegetarian dishes and go up to $ 14 for a few of the seafood options. Soups are under $ 4, apps $ 3 – 5 and breads under $ 3. My husband and I often get soups or an appetizer, plus entrees, bread and a few beverages, and our check is typically under $ 35. Can’t beat that! Staff is friendly and service is consistently good. The only real downside is their lack of a liquor license.
