This used to be our go to place for specialty pizza in Latham. All I can say is they’ve had too much of a good thing lately. We always ordered the specialty pizzas because they have good variety. Last time we got the Buffalo chicken and the Taco pizza. Both were brimming with so much toppings that they were falling off and making the thin crust soggy. It was impossible to reheat leftovers well so we just threw them out. The regular pizza is just average. I’ll still give them 3 stars based on past experience. I just hope they balance the pies better again.

Ironic name, given their lack of flavor. We went to Crispy Basil because they’re the only place in the area with vegan cheese but, have opted for homemade pizzas instead(Lactose intolerant). The pizza is quite expensive to start with but, then they load on the daiya(vegan cheese), which doesn’t melt like actual cheese to the point that the pizza is chewy and difficult to eat. There are no spices to speak of and, I don’t know about you but, I want my flavor cooked into my pizza, not just sprinkled on top with the limited spices they have for customer use. With a name like Crispy Basil, I would expect at least a little bit of flavor. My husband’s normal pizza was lacking flavor, as well, so it wasn’t even just that they didn’t know how to prepare a vegan pizza.

The best delivery pizza in the Latham area. Good wings if you like a sweeter buffalo sauce. Obviously pizza is pretty subjective but this is my families go to for pizza.

Do not order pizza from here! Especially for take out or delivery! They charge you for each topping and give you about 2 per slice. I specifically asked them to be more generous this time. Got the same thing. When I called to complain, the kid that answered the phone said it looked fine to her. I paid $ 18 for an 8 slice pizza with a joke for toppings. Inferno will get my business now.

Stopped in for lunch. They had a nice variety of pizzas. Service was quick. I would say it’s probably one of the better places in Latham for pizza. The crust was crispy and there was a decent amount of toppings on the pizza. Sauce was so-so. I would probably go back, but only if I was in that neighborhood for lunch, I don’t think I would make it a destination stop.

Crispy Basil has a generous selection to choose from. From regular pizza to gourmet, reg. crust to gluten free. My wife has a gluten allergy so whenever she wants«real» pizza we always get a gluten free pizza from Crispy Basil. They are a little on the pricey side but well worth the purchase.

Stopped here late nite for a slice because it was convenient. Mediocre at best. It serves a purpose if you are looking for late nite pizza in Latham as most of the places are closed by 10pm but I would never go during normal hours.

Not up to par. When I spend over 10 dollars on a salad, I want something special… a salad better than I could make at home quickly and that warrants the high price. I try caesar salads at different locations to compare… it should be a simple salad and easy to «fancy» up. If a salad place’s caesar salad passes my quality yummy test, then I happily return to try other salad selections. Crispy Basil’s caesar salad failed the test: * The romaine lettuce tasted of chemicals and was chopped in large chunks * The parmesan shavings were huge and hardened(.5×3 inches), not allowing them to be mixed with the salad for consistent and well blended taste * The cherry tomatoes were fine but sparse * The croutons were tiny cubes with no flavor(a caesar should have large, seasoned croutons) * The chicken that was supposed to be seasoned with herbs had no flavor, the skin was burnt and hardened by long refrigeration(I stabbed a few pieces with my fork several times and the metal fork did not penetrate the skin) * the dressing was nothing special and served on the side(unless specified, mix it up) I was very hungry so I ate the salad. I sat outside which was nice. I returned my tray and bowl, placing them on the garbage can shelf inside. I thought it kind of strange how the two young boys(«cooks») behind the chefs’ table overzealously leaned over the table and very enthusiastically wished me a good day. I’m a very enthusiastic person so I generally dig that. But something felt strange. Maybe because my gut was starting to rumble… In just enough time for me to get home(15 minutes), I had to book to the bathroom. Unclean kitchen? Boys bored with sub par salad shop job putting surprises on people’s salads? Whatever the case, the caesar salad was a big bummer… if they can’t get the most basic item on the menu right, I don’t trust their other menu offerings would be any better. __ Greenhouse in Albany is where to go for a real chop salad(just don’t be afraid to ask the makers to put more of whatever comes in your salad, in your salad). Salad Creations in Clifton Park will serve you a much, much better salad too, and for almost $ 4 less.

I work down the road in Newton Plaza… had a guy stop in one day and drop off a menu… Now understand we’ve been at our location for a number of years and know all the best places nearby because… well we gotta eat! That being said there are some tough competition when it comes to pizza nearby these guys and I gotta say I love crispy basil. I had to give these guys a shot and boy they impressed me. The first pie I tried from here was a cheeseburger pizza, like wow you heard me right, cheeseeeeeburger. pizza. It had french fries on it and beef. I fell in love it was incredible. Sure enough I tried several other specialty pies from here and all of them were just fantastic. If you want to mix it up from the usual or your regular pizza place isn’t doing it for you, definitely try these guys out. They use some great ingredients and make some tasty pizza!

I eat at this place at least once a week. Out of all pizza places in Albany, crispy basil is not only one of the best, but has by far the most variety. They have great specials and is definitely worth trying!

This has to be the worst pizza I’ve ever had. I ordered a pepperoni so you would think that can’t be screwed up but it was. One bite and I immediately spit it out. It taste like dirty socks! There is no way this pizza is fresh, probably a week old. Even the pepperoni are very dark and not even really attached to the cheese that looks like wax. Wings were ok but I ordered ranch and received bleu cheese. Chicken fingers were good but I ordered ketchup and received marinara sauce. Ordered Coke and received Pepsi. This place seems extremely confused as to what a pizza place, or any restaurant for that matter, should be. Do not eat here!

Bland. Unimaginative. You would almost think it was frozen. I ordered this pizza because I was tired of all the other pizzas in the area. It was cold outside and I didn’t want to go far. Serves me right. This pizza was so boring it’s hard to rip it apart. It would be like writing a bad review of Wonder Bread. I will say I am never ordering from here again. No flavor to the sauce, the cheese is rubbery, not creamy and the crust is soft. Only about 115 miles north of some of the greatest pizza in the world and yet, this is truly a mecca of bad pizza. Crispy Basil certainly is bad pizza, and I guess it fits right in to the area. I should have saved my 10 bucks and went next door to Nite Moves.

Great experience on this visit. Meatball and eggplant parm pizzas were amazing. Get the apple and chicken spinach salad with Greek dressing — so good! And they have do owe A&W, a winner in my book.

This is by far the best and most authentic Pizza place in town. Amazing crust and the toppings are fresh and succulent — the garlic knots just melt in your mouth. The only peeve I have is that it would be even better if they actually made personal sized pizzas fresh — instead of heating up slices when we order.

The gentleman in front was polite and great. The battered mushrooms leave much to be desired. Pizza was crispy and light. We really enjoyed it. Thank you for a great pizza pie

Ordered on-line. Got there to pick up my order and the delivery guy grabbed my order for delivery by mistake. So I had to wait 25 mins until the delivery guy came back with my order. My food was cold. They offered absolutely nothing except an apology. I was a regular customer. They made me feel like I was the problem.

Ordered two slices of cheese, to try out a side, I got some tomato soup. Food was sub-par. Pizza is nothing to write home about, crust isn’t very flavorful and the pizza itself is pretty generic. It also was just barely warm. Tomato soup was bland, but it came with free garlic bread in tin foil, which was nice. I think I might stop by again in the future, but I wasn’t that impressed by Crispy Basil. Might be better suited for someone with gluten sensitivity or just someone looking for a relaxing place to sit down and eat pizza.

Crispy Basil is a run-of-the-mill thin crust pizza counter. They also have a variety of pasta dinners, fried appetizers, wings, soups, and ice cream. They also have GF pizza, which I didn’t eat. When I went they had about twelve different types of slices and plenty of other options if you wanted to order an entire pizza. I had a slice of bruschetta pizza, which was fairly bland and a slice of margherita with fresh mozzarella, which was quite tasty. The crust on both slices was crispy, but lacked flavor. My grandmother said she thoroughly enjoyed the broccoli cheddar soup. The girl working at the counter was very friendly and good at humoring all customers(she was impressively kind to my overly-critical senior citizen dinner companion). Overall, it was a positive experience – nothing to rave about but I wouldn’t be opposed to returning.

I was craving pizza, so while my mom and I were out shopping she suggested Crispy Basil because she heard they have gluten free pizza. The counter person warned me right off the bat that the crust is gluten free, but they are cross contaminated in the oven. I know I’ve run the risk of cross contamination with fryer food so I decided to take the risk. We got the GF Margherita with red sauce added. The crust seemed to have been frozen but it was delicious and crispy and reminded me of Eddie’s bar pies in New Hyde Park; tasty. The fresh mozzarella was incredible and generously piled on and the tomatoes and basil were deliciously fresh. The pizza was pretty awesome(maybe it tastes extra good because I was craving pizza and haven’t had it in over 6 months). However, this is NOT safe for celiac sufferers. I had some pretty intense gluten contamination symptoms that make it not worth eating it again. But if I didn’t have this issue I would be there way too frequently as the pizza tasted delicious.
