UYE – Steppin’Out:Grubfest with The Goyemonstah!!!

I would just like to say THANK YOU to Nelson for gathering us up for a pre-​bingo dinner and ordering all of those delicious starters for us! :)

We needed to fuel up before bingo at South Point, so we all decided to meet up in the tatami room for part 1 of our 7-​hour long UYE.
Our waitress Shima did an awesome job splitting checks, delivering our orders, and refilling our drinks during our 2-​hour sushi feast. Believe you me, we would have passed two hours if we weren’t on a time crunch!
Smoked Salmon, Black Tobiko, Aji, Spicy Tuna Rice Crackers, Amaebi, and Fried Amaebi Heads were part of the first wave of sushi, followed by our second wave of Uni, Tiger Rolls, Conch, Fresh Scallop, Hamachi Jalapeño with Ponzu, and Grilled Pork Belly. Afterwards, people ordered other side dishes, nigiri, and rolls.
After our fill of desserts consisting of Yuzu Sherbet, Lychee Sherbet, Green Tea Crème Brulee, and Red Bean Ice Cream, We thanked the Goyemon staff for yet another wonderful evening and we were off to South Point. Thank you to all who attended, and see you all next time in the tatami room ALOHA!!!

SO… MUCH… FOOD… FOOD… COMA!
Nelson, my hat goes off to you for this one. I didn’t order a thing off the menu besides dessert, and I left stuffed! 18 Unilocalers all going AYCE (for $ 26.95 ea.), the food just kept coming and coming!
It seemed anything Japanese/​sushi related was available, and between the 18 of us, it likely was had: saki, nagiri, edamame, specialty rolls, vegan options, teriyaki chicken, miso soup, tempura vegetables, hand rolls, and lychee sorbet. There were several things I didn’t try, the fried shrimp heads for one. sorry, I can tolerate fish eggs but eyeballs are beyond my limit!
Special thanks goes out to Khatherine for sharing her ‘Chubby’, which others can attest barely fit in my mouth! Thanks of course also goes to Nelson and Sylvia for hosting and reserving the space for us! Good food, good peeps, great time!

If you have not attended a Goyemon Tatami Room UYE with Nelson (aka The Goyemonstah) & Sylvia Q: you have no idea what you are missing. Seats are so coveted that LJ was waiting nearby to pounce on the first open spot and scored one. This was my third visit since joining Unilocal; go with the gang!
My Mom came along and she was blown away by the sheer volume of food that is consumed. Tried to prepare her by explaining it was like a shark feeding frenzy, but nothing can truly prepare you except going.
I’d prepared with a long run and protein shakes only and chowed down on some great sushi, Tako poke, a salmon skin handroll, Nigori flight and Yuzu sorbet dedicated to Lisa R. Sat with Drew (next to my Mom, he’s a good sport), Maria, KaHatherine, Mel, Terri, Kayla and Beet. Lots of allergies and special orders were handled well for such a big party. Beet’s vegan sushi is pretty (see her pics) Mom, who never eats sushi, ate two shrimp and said they were great. then I told her they were raw :) (gotcha!) She enjoyed just about every chicken dish and used her fork.
So in your best Cawfee Tawk voice «What a nice group of kids. Nelson and Sylvia are such great hosts and boy those little girls can eat! The dishes flying by, the ordering it was so noisy but fun. Mel and his wife are so friendly and Drew is a good boy. You know Elizabeet, I love her, Kayla’s boyfriend has great taste in women and jewelry and I know my jewelery…(probably still tawking about it…)

Unilocal 100 Challenge

Due to a last minute cancellation, I got in!
There were two tables with 18 people in total.
We all started with either green tea, ice green tea or water.
Nelson always helps us out and order all the specials for the table.
This included: Amebi, Uni, Black Roe, Smoked Salmon, Conch, Pork Belly and more. All were good and my favorite was the Amebi with the fried shrimp head.
After this first round, everyone ordered additional items from the menu.
I had the vegetable tempura, seaweed salad, and takoyaki. The tempura and seaweed were standard and yummy. The takoyaki was fried, a bit overcooked, but still delicious.
But for this, it’s not all about the food, it’s about the people. The company was great and it was a good time.
Oh wait, a little about the food, don’t forget to order the Lychee and Yuzu Sorbet!!!

My first time to Goyeman wouldn’t be the same without the King and Queen of this place. Had another fantastic time with friends, Unilocalers, and food.

P. S. (Which means porgot sumting) in Filipino. I promise I’ll keep up the accent the whole night next time.
