Originally, my plan for this day was just go to the monthly Chaiya Meditation Monastery Food Fair. But as soon as I found out that Suzuya was in the area and that Nelson had created a UYE, it was a no brainer for I am always down to check out new places and my wife has not been to a bakery yet that she doesnt like so off we went. At first, we had a hard time finding it. Once you see the auto repair shop, its right there in the same complex. It’s one of those small suite settings and honestly, once you step inside, you can tell thats all the room they need. Its been a while since I have had a Crêpe so it was all a matter of picking one along with a pastry or two. Since most of us arrived as soon as they opened, we had a lot of choices to choose from especially the specials of the day. As some Unilocalers got done and left, others showed up and took their spots so it all worked out pretty good in regards to having enough room for all of us. Shout outs go out to Chris V, Michael K, David V, Debbie N, Ty W and his lovely wife Lore D. Late comers Stephanie«Fluffy Panda» K, Kevin L, Andrew C, and Dorrie D. Lastly, a great big shout out to the Q’s Sylvia and Nelson for taking the time out to put this great event together. Another fun UYE in the books! Unilocal 2014365 Review Challenge #120 «Oh Suzuya! Unilocal365CHALLENGE2014−(112÷365) «Sweet Success!» After seeing Jen S.‘s ROTD, He suggested a UYE, but posting the event with only a 3-day window, I didn’t know how it would pan out. The risk taker in me heard the words made famous by Nike… JUSTDOIT… So that’s just what I did! I called Chef Misuzu and gave her a heads up and guesstimation of the Unilocalerazzi coming through. Fast forward to Sunday, We made a quick stop at the nearby Chaiya Monastery to get all Thai’d up for a quick minute, munched on some quick savory snacks and even forgot my monthly Curry Puff pick up-DOH!!! **Thanks Holly H…;)** and I even passed up my usual fix of Mango and Sticky Rice so I could kill it at our next stop. I put the word out to some fellow Unilocalers and we were off to Suzuya. Upon arrival at Suzuya, our table was set, and a full showcase of signature items as well as a few dessert specials filled the shelves. The first wave of Unilocalers arrived, and we got our sugar rush on! Orders were placed and Team Suzuya sprung into action filling drinks, plating desserts, and busting out a few crepes, and at one time 90% of their seating was occupied by a Unilocaler! After about an hour, some of the first wave of Unilocalers left, and a second wave came after the dreaded Pad Thai waitlist which proved to be perfect timing. A total of 18 of us came out, got sweetened up, and had an overall great time! BIG MAHALOS-Chef Misuzu and Team Suzuya for hosting us and for all of your tasty creations! Thank you also to everyone in attendance for coming out, helping support awesome local businesses, and as always, having an awesome time! ALOHA!!! This was my first UYE ever, and it could not have been better. As advertised, this was indeed a perfect follow-up to the Chaiya Food Fair. Since it was kinda a last minute event, there wasn’t a tremendous crowd, which would definitely have overwhelmed the seating capacity of Suzuya. No complaints for me there, especially since we had all the daily specials available owing to the early event time. We had a table with a nice tablecloth and runner(«reserved» in case of random 10am rush). Since that’s pretty much the extent of any special treatment, I did a business review as well. Michael K., aka my drinking buddy(inside joke), was so kind as to share his orders with me, and I reciprocated the favor. I got to taste a lot more things than I would have otherwise, and I am really grateful for that, so thanks, Michael! Spectacular savory and sweet crepes, awesome apple pie, magnificent mango mousse, and other items delighted my taste buds and filled my stomach today. I went into much more detail on the food on the business page, so check that out! Thanks so much to Nelson Q. for throwing this thing together and Chef Misuzu for being generally awesome! Also really good to see Sylvia Q., Roger T. and Riah(and Roxi — sp?), David V., Debbie N., Andrew C., Doriee D., Fluffy, and others whose names I missed. Had such a great time that I’ve gotta say«Hana hou!»
