I couldn’t find Wild Friends Almond Nut Butter anywhere, until I checked Semilla. Yay! It was even on sale. I also discovered a sugar free dark chocolate nugget of pleasure, and sat outside under their trees and thought about maybe going back in for some fresh Osha or organic honey. Oh, Las Vegas. My old home. You might not have a lot of things but at least you have Semilla.

My favorite little health food store. This is truly as good as it gets in this area without having to go to Santa Fe. Their locally owned and operated. Their prices are as good or sometimes better than making a trip to get your nutritional essentials. Also if they don’t have it just ask them and often they will special order it for you. This place holds a special place in my heart. It is where I worked a few semesters while I was in college and where I learned so much about health, nutrition and sustainable community practices. While in town I almost always have to stop here, often with friends and family who are looking for a nutritional consultation and pick up the essentials.

This locally-owned, organically-focused store is stocked with a surprisingly complete array of both groceries and nutritional supplements. The staff is very knowledgeable about health and nutrition, and if there is something they do not have, they will happily order it for you. The store emphasizes locally-produced foods whenever possible, and the often-premium prices on their offerings reflect their quality and scarcity. Yes, you can shop for less at the big stores, but you have to drive 120 miles round-trip to do it. As a local alternative to the poison-food purveyors such as Wal-Mart and Lowe’s, it is impossible to beat.
