This review is for the«new» Oriental King, called Old Town Oriental Cuisine. The signs say Japanese food, but it’s about half Chinese, half Japanese food. The chef, James Hong, runs the place by himself and cooks every meal to order, so service can be slow if there’s a full group in the tiny restaurant(it’s typically for take-out). The crab rangoons were really creamy and the fried portion was soft, but crunchy. Most rangoons I’ve had elsewhere are too tough to eat, but these were good… 6 for $ 2.75 I think. Girlfriend had the eggrolls and they had an odd dusting of cinnamon and were served with raspberry dip, which baffled us. I ordered the Yakiniku plate of beef and veggies and it was really good(for this region, of course.) Girlfriend had pork fried rice and she said that the egg pieces were legit. The plates were a bit quirky, though. Mr. Hong served the meals with a geometric finish — next to the main dish was white rice, surrounded by half a sugar bun on top, a potsticker on bottom, and a raw baby carrot on the side. Very odd… Pretty good, pretty cheap!
