«The Black Hole» of Vegas. WHOWOULDKNOW a sliver of Canada could be pooped out the universe’s exhausted colon and magically end up HERE, of all places!!! Anyway, my sis took me and we’re driving through desert… desert…tumbleweed…desert…hot dry wind-OH MYGOD, WHERE’D ALLTHESEPINETREESAPPEARFROM??? We’re suddenly transported into lush, forest-filled, camping terrain with snow-dotted mountains staring us down(yeah, instead of rude parents; check my Sterling Park review). My jaw stayed dropped the whole time, even after we started the hike up to the waterfall-THAT is another miracle in itself! Beautiful, beautiful trails winding up to the top with the occasional sandal-clad genius passing by. I was in awe overlooking everything by the waterfall, & not too many people there, thankfully. This place reminded me of my past camping ventures up north and I wanted to go back to the house and grab a tent SO badly!!! I will hopefully return at some point, as much as I would prefer actual Vegas burning to the ground. XP

Great place to hike just getaway for a day and regroup your thoughts. The walk thru here was so beautiful as well as the destination. Bring plenty of water and snacks. A full tank cause its a great long drive. Bring a cozy chair to sit and take in the view. No rush!

Twice a year I come here for a leadership camp for high schoolers at lee canyon. It is so beautiful up there and it is always so nice because I can get away from all the stress off school, work and other things. My favorite thing to do is to hang out at the picnice table talking with the other counselors but I also enjoy the night we spend under the stars by the camp fire, making smores and the kids have a chance to show off their talents. Whether it is singing, dancing, playing an instrument. It is so much fun.

Took a camping trip up at Lee Canyon which neighbors Mt. Charleston. Checked into Camp Dolomite. This place was nice in Sept. It was quiet. There were almost no people there. Our campsite was secluded and had a lot of privacy. It was nestled down between 2 small hills… perfect. There was no wind. I’ve never had«no wind» when I’ve gone camping. We took a hike… that was exhausting. Watched a lot of birds, ate a lot of food, and got scared by a baby dear at 2am. Camp Dolomite up at Mt. Charelston/Lee Canyon was a pleasant surprise, not your usual campgrounds where everyone is piled up on each other. And the host was so very pleasant. I will definitely make a trip up there the same time next year. I only give 4 because a lake/river would’ve made it perfect!

I always love going to Mt. Charleston to get away from the urban jungle. It’s the perfect place to take a hike, have a picnic, or just relax. There’s a cute little restaurant, which always has stands outside with people selling hand-made crafts and jewelry. The lodge is very cute and quaint, and the perfect place to have a drink and get a little intimate with your date while enjoying a scenic and magnificent view of the mountains. But my favorite thing to do is head up there w/a honey, grab a picnic table, get a little fire going, maybe bbq, a bottle of wine and just enjoy!
