Houdini’s Magic Shop is cool… really cool… pricey too. If you are looking for magic trick supplies and gag gifts, it’s definitely the place to be. I really liked the store a lot, and liked that the store’s namesake, Houdini, was featured with curiosities that he owned and used for his illusions and escapes in his heyday, including several of his handcuffs. All are displayed behind glass, so you won’t be able to touch them, but it is neat to see them up close through the glass. When you first enter the store, it’s like going into a shop of curiosities and taking a walk back in time, surrounded by a plethora of magic gift gag tricks and supplies. Be ready for the hard sell by the staff though. They are trained in not only demonstrating the magic tricks, but also in up-selling the products. So while it will be fun to see their demonstrations, they will be trying their best to pressure you into buying something… anything. It is Las Vegas, so it’s not really out of the ordinary for things to be priced high for the unassuming traveler. If you want to purchase magic trick items though, this is a great place for that and a few other unique items. It’s all worth it if you know what you are looking for. We liked the atmosphere of the store, with it’s cherry wood accents and vintage-style magic theater décor. Plus, the staff is dressed up in period costume, which makes everything feel like you have entered a 1920’s speakeasy and walked up to the bar to be entertained. The gag gifts and magic tricks available for purchase were really cool. They even have puppets, the expected trick card decks, and a little spot in the back of the store where they can train you in how to use any of the items you purchase. We have been to several magic shops, and this is one of the best.

The staff were super friendly and interactive. This was an odd and delightful detour during our Venetian rendevouz. Definitely hit Zoltar for a fortune before hitting the tables!

I LIKETALKINGMYHUSBANDOUTOFBUYINGTHINGSHEDOESN’T NEED Sweetheart, you don’t need a two-sided quarter. After thoroughly assisting a few other customers, the lone employee was able to come to our section and help us find the quarter my husband wanted to buy. Even though we decided against the purchase(good! he would have lost it anyhow — or spent it!) we did browse the entire store. There was a lot to see, even though it’s a small store. It’s full from ceiling to floor with little items and games and magic tricks and masks. The clerk was helpful, showing anyone interested in something, precisely how it worked. I saw one woman very happy with her purchase for her children. He taught her the trick so that she could teach them at home. Cute store with good customer service.

I loved this store, but it was a little pricey. They had everything a kid could ever dream of if they wanted to do magic. There was only one employee working at the time and there was probably five people in the store and he did a pretty good job of trying to get to everyone helped in a timely manor. Now while he was helping he was making jokes and keeping everyone smiling. They will also demo products so don’t leave the store without having them show you a couple of tricks.

Wow! Magic tricks are pricey! We decided on a cool, simple magic trick as a bring back souvenir for our 8-year-old. Yes, the prices are high. But, the thing that makes this place fun(especially the Forum Shops location) is the staff. These guys are REALLY into their products and overall craft. Have them do a few demos before you buy. Even if you don’t purchase anything, it’s a fun little experience.
