So I’m sitting here wondering why in the hell this place has 4.5 stars. Everything about this place sucks. I’m ok with spending $ 12 for a burger and $ 12 spaghetti and meatballs if it is legit. But not only was our hamburger cold, but it was tasteless AF. As was the meatballs. I make better spaghetti and meatballs, and I don’t even cook. The food took 40 minutes to come out and that’s with 2 people in here. When I called the waitress to redeem my free beer ASSEENON Unilocal, not only does she finish her conversation with the other waitress while I wait, but then she said«we don’t do that anymore»… Well it’s why I even came in this crappy place! Asked for my check and got the hell out of there. Unilocalers: don’t believe the hype.

This rating is being updated for these reasons: 1. I haven’t been to Hooligans in a hot minute but I was informed that Chef Bruce is not longer with Hooligans so his specialty burgers and menu are also no longer there. 2. Both my fiancé & I don’t drink too much so my original 5 star rating was based only on the food. The bar situation is cool with unique style and has everything you need to get your drink on at great prices — I just hope my original review about the food doesn’t mislead you! I’ll update the review on the food when I return.

Stopped by with a friend this past weekend to check out this little dive bar tucked away in an old strip mall. From the outside it doesn’t look like much but the inside is a different story. Hooligans has a 60s vibe on the inside, rows of dart boards, and plenty of brews on hand. We tried the chicken fingers and steak sliders, both of which were excellent. Service was great, the bartender was real friendly and even upgraded our Unilocal check-in drink to a 16oz for free. I wanna come by and check out the mass burger as everyone has been raving about it. The happy hour doesn’t seem like a bad deal either. Overall a pretty good experience and worth a second trip.

Nice cozy bar with great food. Jalapeño fries are a must try. Everything else on the menu is delicious. The bartenders are really nice and the service is always great.

Decided to come in and try their burgers after so many great reviews and just did not find my experience to be even remotely close to a good one. We knew this was a bar, so we expected dark but it was so dark we had to look hard for seating. We chose a booth and sat down only to be flagged down by the bartender behind the bar with the menu, so my husband had to go to her… not a good first impression so far. She then came to us to get our drink order. I think she could have taken that time to bring us the menu but maybe I just don’t know how it works in a bar that also serves food? We proceeded to order the«Big Mass Burger» and big it was just not in the right way. For a burger that took almost an hour to receive I was really expecting fabulous and instead got this huge burger with a steak knife holding it together which consisted of a huge meat patty, cheese, bacon, grilled onions and mushrooms. The meat itself was flavorless and tasted steamed rather than grilled, the bacon was chewy and was just an overall bad burger. The owner/cook came out to check on us and asked us how everything was and before we could respond he mentioned he had to go to the grocery store as he was wiped out from the night before and so he was concerned about the quality of our meal so we felt bad and decided to just mention the ok parts. Like the Onion Rings and Fried Pickles and left it at that. Truthfully you should not open if you are not ready to. I get that the night before may have been a busy night for them but I can only go off of my own experience and unfortunately it was not good. I just can’t make up excuses for a bad experience. The pricing is also outrageous at $ 12 for a burger served in a bar would seem to me that this would steer patrons away from ordering food rather than something to look forward to ordering and enjoying with their beer. They may be the home of 16 beers on tap and perhaps that in itself makes them a successful business but unfortunately we were not here for the beer but for a good burger experience as it also seems to be heavily liked for, and sadly was a fail for my dining experience.

Walking into this dark and slightly divey bar, you don’t expect much as far as food goes. The place was pretty crowded as they were having one of their biweekly poker tournaments. We were the only people that ordered any food, so they seemed to go out of their way to make our visit nice. We ordered the hangover burger, wings with wedges and fried avocado to share. They took the fried avocado off their menu, but the waitress talked to Chef Bruce and he was more than happy to accommodate any requests we had as long as he has the ingredients. We also really wanted to try their guava habanero for the wings but he had run out so he mixed up a concoction of his pineapple sauce and added a little more kick to it for us. Service was great! The bartender /waitress Misty was extremely attentive and was so sweet and friendly. Chef Bruce even came out to make sure we were enjoying everything and made sure to make an extra batch of the fried avocado just for us as well as being out some of their dessert to try. The food was decent, I enjoyed the burger, but stuffed burgers aren’t my favorite so I’d likely be happier with a basic one minus cheese and all the extra stuff. Simple is always better for me. The burger was cooked perfectly, though. The wings were good, too. I the sauces were still overly sweet for me, but I appreciated that they served them on the side so I could decide how much to use. The fried avocado was delicious, the best thing we had all evening. I also really enjoyed the potato wedges. Perfectly cooked and excellent texture. We had a great meal and they had no problem redeeming our coupon. I’ll be back soon.

Unilocal365CHALLENGE2014−(316÷365) «The Hooligans Hype» In-N-Out…now these guys make good, solid burgers. Best of all, they’re always consistent. This was Wifey’s suggestion. At first, I said cool, but then I came across my bookmarks and remembered Hooligan’s where I read that the chef/owner was with Braddah’s Island Style until they had a falling out with each other, and that some killer burgers and bar food come out of this kitchen. So, by the pictures and highly praised reviews, I managed to get us to go try Hooligans instead. This is where it starts like Flo M.‘s review… Dark empty bar… it was on Sunday game day as well, but we were the only ones watching the game. a couple of other people were at the bar gambling their money away, and another couple sat in a dark corner booth. The bartender who was very polite and friendly handed us the menus-two pieces of paper stapled together with markups done by a permanent ink marker…(Burgers are now $ 12, and their chocolate dessert for $ 10? that’s Strip prices… but at a dive bar???) We order a couple of soft drinks, Share the Big Mass Burger, and on Sunday game day, baskets are buy one, get one half off, so we got Onion Rings and Fried Pickles. Drinks came out of a gun at the bar and were totally flat, so we switched them out for water instead. When a place asks me «what temperature would you like your burger?» nice, pink, and medium rare is my answer, and I’m assuming that the person responsible for making my burger has his/her short order cooking skills down, whether it’s a burger, or even a steak, you as a cook or chef should have these basic fundamentals down. When you order Fried Chicken at any soul food joint, the wait is at least 20 minutes which ain’t too bad. I thought wauting for fried chicken was long enough! Our order took twice as long for a burger, onion rings, and fried pickles??? 40 – 45 minutes, and it wasn’t even busy??? I also keep reading about 5 different signature sauces Hooligan’s has, and the Guava-Habanero is the one I wanted to try, but I couldn’t…why? They were out of ALL the signature sauces??? I guess ketchup and mustard it is! Our order arrives, and I cut the Big Mass Burger in half, and it’s barely pink, and more medium to medium well! What’s worse is that this burger was very firm like the burger was either left to finish in the oven too long, or it was covered on the flat top grill, steaming and overcooking in the process. I don’t care if the beef came from«Down Under»…the quality was just disappointing. The fried items tasted like very old fryer grease that needed to be changed yesterday! High prices that don’t match the food quality ain’t gonna make me return and give Hooligans another go. I should’ve listened to Wifey, and we should have just went to In-N-Out…ALOHA!!! From the outside, it doesn’t look like anything special. The inside is decorated with a 60s loft style. We arrived around 10:30 p.m., used a coupon, which was fine with the bartender. Ordered the Mass Burger with two eggs over hard to share. The Guinness on tap was excellent. The burger arrived and exceeded all expectations. See my photos. Fresh mushrooms, white wine garlic butter, a few pickles, crispy bacon, and cooked medium rare exactly as ordered. The fries were also amazing, as you can see in the photos. Finally, we shared a Chocolate Mousse Martini. Infused with Gran Marnier, this dessert was also unbelievable. Never has bar food been this good. The music playlist was mostly electronic /pop rock, and the sound system has excellent clean low bass, unusual for a place like this.

After reading extremely positive reviews for this place, I was so hyped to come spend Sunday football here. I also read negative reviews & hoped that I wouldn’t experience something like that but sadly, here I am writing a 2-star review. I’ve been to a bunch of hole-in-the-walls so I didn’t mind the exterior but we walked in to a dark, empty bar & I just had an uneasy feeling. Sure it was early but it’s Sunday! Where is everyone?! After sitting for a while, I also realized how warm it was in the place & that the fan was so loud somewhere in the back. Urgh. There was only one bartender/server but she was accommodating & friendly. She immediately changed the channel to the game without us asking(based on the bf’s jersey), which was really nice of her. We received our menus– two crumply, stained pages with sharpie markings all over(they raised their prices so they crossed out some prices & wrote the actual prices in sharpie & they crossed off items they don’t have anymore). She apologized that they are revamping their menus but damn, would it hurt to at least print their menus nicely on stock paper/resume paper just until they get their real menus? It took about 40 or so minutes for a burger &2 breakfast platters. Uhhhh. Didn’t get why it took so long; the other 2 – 3 patrons were already eating! While watching the game, a bug crawled up my friend’s arm too! Not cool. There were a total of 4 other people who came while we were there & they weren’t together either. It was awkward & I honestly don’t understand the positive reviews. I had good company plus the food & service were okay but I think we will just visit another sports bar for the next game.

I dined here earlier today. I was unpleasantly surprised to learn the establishment was out of hamburger. At 2:00PM on a Saturday. Didn’t sound like they were getting this exotic meat product any time soon. I asked for a menu anyway and was handed two greasy, grimy pieces of paper. Apparently they’re working on a new menu. Guessing it will arrive about the same time as the hamburger does. Many of the menu items other Unilocal reviewers raved about were nowhere to be found on said menu. Made the mistake of ordering jalapeño fries. No es bueno. Yeah, I won’t be back.

There are some places that are«hole in the wall» gems. Hooligans has the potential to be that place. The burgers are excellent, the meat comes from australia, they are stuffed with goodies like cheddar, bacon, etc. and then topped with more goodies. They are huge, 2⁄3 lb’ers so be forewarned. I had the barbecue burger. I always get the sauce on the side so I can taste the burger without it first and also because there are some bbq sauces that are too overpowering or taste bad. The taste of the burger is great. The sauce was actually perfect for me, a mild but tangy bbq flavor. The complaint I have about the burger is the buns. They are not fresh and actually detract from the amazing flavor of the burger. If the bun wasn’t smooshed into the toppings, I would have removed it completely after the first bite. The bun fell apart, making it difficult to eat the burger without it falling over the plate. The fries are excellent also, They are flat steak fries with great seasoning(maybe a little too much salt for me but still good). If I was reviewing just the burger alone, this would be a 3.5 –4 star. However, there were several negatives about the location. I did love the vegas theme on the walls. 1) there were no formal menus. The lovely bartender explained this to me as they were redesigning the menu. 2) The ice freezer has been broken for several months(how does this happen to a new restaurant and why is it not fixed) and they were using ice from a bag in the bar sink. and 3) Way too smokey for me. The bartender was very friendly and helpful and really cares about the establishment, speaking proudly about it. The owner wasn’t there until I was about to leave but does spend time at the bar which is a positive. The bartender stated they hope to have fresh baked buns from a local bakery soon and that will help. Also they have several TV’s around the bar so it is a good place to watch a game. Surprisingly, despite the great reviews and food, the place was empty on College Football gameday.

My roommates and I have been looking for a bar that we would want to hang out at for months. I stumbled across Hooligans from its Unilocal reviews and we decided to try it out. At first glance it’s tucked away in a corner and doesn’t look like it could be much. We walked in and instantly loved the décor on the walls. Old school Vegas pictures lined the bar. We got our menus and decided to order a little of everything and just share around. We ordered some beers since there are 16 on draft! We ordered the Cajun fried bacon, fried pickles, the big mass burger, and the bacon wrapped French toast. It was seriously all amazing! The burger was HUGE! The owner made his rounds and came and sat with us and let us try his wings and jalapeño fries which were also delicious! We ended it with pyrat candy. It’s pretzels and dark chocolate. Seriously, so good! It’s one of those bars that we can’t wait to go back again every week, our only recommendation is to eat a veggie!

First impression: This bar is awesome. I’d read a few reviews here on Unilocal, and was looking forward to coming out sometime. Last night after a rough day at work, I decided to head out for Thursday night karaōke with a friend. The bar itself is really great. I like how open and spacious it is! The bartenders last night, Nicole and Sky, were great. Super friendly, knowledgeable, and they make some great drinks! Karaōke was fun too! I haven’t tried the food yet, but it looked and smelled great! I can’t wait to come back in a couple weeks to try it. I definitely like Hooligans, and will return!

Totally exceeded our expectations! I had a little trouble finding the place because it was tucked into a corner. But when I got there the ambiance and atmosphere was very relaxing. The menu isn’t big but the portions are so huge. I started off ordering the hangover remedy burger but did not know it had onions stuffed in it. The owner/Cook was very nice and brought me a different burger for free. He didn’t charge me for either of the burgers. I would have gladly paid for the second burger because it was delicious. I also got fried bacon for appetizers and my girlfriend got the fried pickles, both were amazing. This is a great place to come too if you’re very hungry and want a good Burger. Everyone is nice and friendly and I will definitely be coming back more often.

After attending the Unilocal UYE here, I had to go back and try their 2⁄3 lbs full sized burgers. Brought my good friend with me who’s a Vegas native and has eaten pretty much everywhere. We;ve done burgers together at BurGR and I love burgers. Stopped in at 5pm, which should be happy hour in most places and it is here, but there was only 2 couples in a booth and just us at the bar. Surprising considering how good the food is. I think it will slowly build up and become a great place. We both ordered the Loaded Baked Potato Burger, which comes with everything you’d find on a loaded baked potato. They use Australian hamburger that comes from grass fed cows, all organic. An excerpt from our conversation while eating courtesy of my friend«Wow, this beef is really good». Upon exiting in the parking lot, he also said«we have GOT to come back here» I thought the burger was exceptional, for $ 11. I would come back here time and time again because this is easily the best burger I’ve had in Vegas, and pretty much anywhere. Sorry BurGR, sorry I love burgers, sorry Bachi Burger… this place rules over you in the Burger World.

A bar with SHUFFLEBOARD, friendly staff, SHUFFLEBOARD, and creative takes on typical bar food? I’m in trouble, since I live only a few blocks away. And love SHUFFLEBOARD! Came here briefly last night for a UYE but couldn’t stick around. Staff was super friendly, from the servers to the owner, who went out of his way to make us feel welcome, ask for feedback, and allow us to sample menu items. Highlight of the menu is the jalapeño fries: tempura-fried jalapeño strips with a tabasco-spiked ranch dressing. The light batter mellows out the spice of the peppers, and has a similar effect when used on the fried pickles. Really came for the burgers, which are stuffed and topped with additional cheeses, jalapenos, and bacon, in a few different varieties. Unfortunately, I found that the burgers didn’t quite live up to my expectations: thy were a bit too overloaded and difficult to eat, buns fell apart, and the plethora of gourmet toppings/stuffings PLUS the traditional burger veggies was just too much. As for the burgers themselves, the Jalapeño Popper one outranked the Big Mess burger for our group, but we were in agreement that the patties were overcooked. Partially accepting some blame myself, as our burgers were taken to-go, and the steam trapped in the box likely contributed to the buns falling apart. Good flavors and good value for price though: $ 11/each. Will come back for appetizers and SHUFFLEBOARD(anyone want to try to beat me?), and likely to watch a few games. Good selection of beers on tap as well.

Another good local bar to hit up. Nice little bar hidden in the corner of the Wienerschnitzel/JerseyMikes/Dottys plaza on the corner of Oakey and Rainbow. Jessica is great… friendly, attentive and makes some awesome shots. I haven’t tried the burgers yet but I did have a nice breakfast there last week. Fantastic prices on the food. Awesome décor with old time Vegas pictures around the walls. You can draw on the walls with chalk in the bathroom… I’m in an ongoing battle of tic tac toe on the wall by the mirror in the bathroom. I’m X’s if you go… don’t screw up my game. I’ve been a few times now and really enjoyed myself… have gotten decent play on the machines as well. Support local bars. check this place out!

Last week ladies night was hip and happening. This mama has gone too long without some alcohol. After being at redrock we looked on Unilocal and found this treasure with great reviews. I would have checked in but I was pretty far gone and forgot. The bartender was soft spoken, extremely knowledgeable on drinks, and let us try a few. Not to mention she was a looker. Yes, I enjoy having a hot bartender. Shoot me. She even let them try a shot of the one she reccommended. It was called cold cock whiskey. The name alone had me rolling. Décor is cool and happening. Modern and sleek. When I think of bars I think of dirty, smokey and old. Not this one. Can’t talk about food since we ordered none but Come give it a try for the alcohol!

I randomly ended up at Hooligans on a Saturday night when I was starving and some of my girlfriends checked-in here. My friend said the food was actually really good here, and this is a friend with exceptionally good taste. Whatever, bar food + good people, sign me the effe up. Hooligans is a brand new bar tucked in the corner of the complex. Once inside the the bar was lit blue and has black & white collages of old school Vegas. It’s a locals spot, for sure; or a place off the strip, you can come for a drink and one of the best burgers you’ll find in Vegas. The bar is the center piece and has quarter poker machines. They have players cards here, y’all, so rack up points. My friends gambled all night and their bar tab was null at the end of the night. Also, the bartenders here were beautiful. Hi Nicole and Sky. Anyway, on to the truly important thing… This burger! I ordered the Jalapeño Popper Burger. Sweet mother of Pete and all damn things holy; this was one of the best burgers I’ve ever encountered. 2⁄3 lb of grass-feed beef, lightly seasoned with salt and pepper, cooked to medium, topped with cheddar cheese, fresh jalapeño peppers, freshly cut, and tempura-ed(is that a word?), with a bun that’s grilled so it’s nice and crunchy toasty… I love you, JPB. I got it prepared medium. It came with fries a la in-n-out: freshly cooked and fried. This is the KEY here, all food is cooked freshly. My burger took a little longer to get, but it was worth the wait. This bad boy only cost $ 11.00 too. It was so big, I got to enjoy it at home a second time. The chef here is the same guy that lent his talents to Bruddahs. You can taste the love in the food and it is of such great quality. I feel like I hit the jackpot Saturday. Hooligans also has TVs for sports games, pool tables, ample space, hi-top tables, attentive staff, a vending machine with snacks and smokes, reasonable prices, a chill, local vibe, rewards system, and amazingly fresh food! Definitely a fan. Can’t wait to go back!
