In Seattle, where rain is king, some folk put devices in their homes to replicate the sun because the lack of sunlight triggers depression. Fair enough; that’s how I feel about lack of rain! If I could, I’d put in a rain machine in my home and get a 24⁄7 rain effect. So I’m a sucker for rain effects at places. Like San Francisco’s Tonga Room, or this crazy thing. Hidden inside a kind-of a mall on Las Vegas’s strip, it’s a little section of rocks and water and every so often, the lights grow dim, fake lightning and thunder crackle and envelop the«sky»(the ceiling is painted as if it is a cloudy sky) and sprinklers overhead bring down the rain. It is glorious. It only last a few minutes and then it’s gone and you’re back to an odd little shopping mall right in the middle of the strip and the desert heat of Vegas, but for that one brief moment… it is glorious. Wonderful effect. I need one of these rigs in my home. Brightens up the whole day.

It’s a fun, remnant of the previous tenant of the building, the Aladdin. A quiet shop is light up and loud’d up by the coming storm… and suddenly it’s raining inside the shops… into a pool in the middle. It’s a fun little show to take your kids to, to enjoy between shopping.
