Hired Jamie/​Handyman Services of Southern Nevada to do some irrigation work repairing a manifold and running irrigation line for me prior to laying new decking in my backyard. Things started off well, seems like a nice guy who knows what he’s doing. He got the project «almost» done according to him, just needed to come back the next day and wrap things up in the morning, not more than a couple of hours. So I paid him. Big mistake. To make a long story short, after excuse after excuse «I slept in, I was sick, I had to take my father’s wife, I was exhausted from the day before and slept 18 hours» never in my life have I heard so many excuses (these are all documented btw). I told him I need you out here, landscapers are going to start planting trees in a couple of days and this needs to be wrapped-​up. Said he’d come out, again he didn’t, went round and round on this a couple of times finally we were down to the final day, landscapers were coming to plant and lay rock the next day he again said he’d be here in the morning, told the landscapers to wait until noon and if he wasn’t there finish his work for him and bill me (they’d previously quoted me $ 150 to finish what he had left to do). No show and I had to pay the landscapes to finish what I’d paid him to do.
I had previously communicated to Jamie what the landscapers would charge me to finish his work and he said he would reimburse me. Landscapers found that he had not laid irrigation line where he said he had and had to add that to what they charged me. Since I had told Jamie it would be $ 150 and he said he would cover it I told him I would cap it at the $ 150. If this goes to small claims court I’ll definitely be going for full amount, it’s just not right to do this to people and I’ve confirmed this is not an isolated incident, ever heard term where there’s smoke there’s fire?
There’s my review, steer clear unless you want a ton of frustration and to get ripped off. BTW, this also created a inconvenience because he hadn’t finished my irrigation manifold I had to water my lawn manually and much of it died. I should charge him for replacing the lawn too. Lastly, I just checked and he cashed my check July 11, 2015, today is August 8, 2015, that’s how long I’ve been chasing him.
