Gary Franzen’s Custom Clothing is a phenomenal experience for anyone looking for high-quality clothes that make you look amazing. My husband came in and had a few suits and shirts made and Gary took such great care of him. I love the style of the shop; it’s very masculine and warm. He has so many beautiful fabrics to choose from and gave him great advice on how to pair colors and patterns together, etc. Gary is so friendly and is a master of his craft. We will most certainly be back!

I don’t even know where to start with Gary Franzen. Basically, he saved our wedding. The suit we had originally ordered from a small shop in San Francisco is lost in limbo, due to crappy customer service and a shoddy product. As a Plan B, someone recommended getting a Bespoke suit made. I looked up the process, saw Gary’s review on Unilocal(was impressed by «better than Don Draper” – whaaa?), and called Gary for an appointment. I was a little worried. My partner is a masculine lesbian. Gary seemed a little old school. Would he get it? Would he be all weird and homophobic and freaked out? Nope. Gary was such a delight to work with. He was friendly, down to earth, and always made us feel comfortable. He asked questions, offered suggestions, and had such knowledge about his craft. I was super impressed. It was clear that neither party had done this before, but we were all working it out together. The result was tremendous. A luxurious, high-quality suit that fits to a T. Here are some things I loved about Gary and his store: — He had tons of draped fabrics and fabric panels. Hundreds and hundreds of sheets of material you could SEE and FEEL. He has an in depth knowledge of all of them. When we remarked on a brown paisly we liked, he was able to immediately recommend a similar fabric in gray to match our suit. — He was able to walk us through the creation of the suit from beginning to end. We knew what to expect. We knew what our suit would look like for each of the three fittings. — He was SOSO super knowledgeable about everything. He had great ideas and was able to make recommendations and suggestions that made the process so much easier. — Italo, the tailor is on site. We got to visit his workshop and look at suits in various stages of completion. He actually consulted with us on the first fitting. They know exactly what can or cannot be done to your suit, and as a result, they are able to really best meet your needs. — The ambiance of Gary’s store is a little golf club meets nutty professor. There’s a putting tee, rolled ties, Dean Martin playing in the background, fabric everywhere. You get the feeling you’re dealing with someone who had passion for what they do. It’s a little bit Old School Las Vegas, and I mean that in the best way possible. We went back for 3 fittings, approximately 1 week apart and now have a completed suit in less than a month. I can’t believe how easy this was. I can’t sing Gary’s praises highly enough.

One night in Vegas, I looked better than Don Draper. That is not a headline — that’s the truth. This review could be ten pages long but I will give you a review and a quick story; REVIEW: This guy makes bespoke suits. Which means I picked out the fabric, the lining, the lapel, how many pockets, vents… every detail — no limits. I went with a 2 button 3 piece; navy with blue window pane, double vented, half clover lapel, blue pokadots on blue silk lining. Its classic but with style. After measurements they make the suit by hand in the shop. This means it is hand cut — hand stitched, and basted by hand(instead of glued). Then you return for another fitting before the suit is finished. It is literally made to perfectly fit you body. The suit costs about the same as maybe Brooks Brothers… and it is half the price of Zegna, Tom Ford, Canali, or Baroni. Those can be decent suits, but they are not made for you by hand. I am telling you, after you wear a suit from Franzen’s you will never wear a suit from anywhere else. Story: I wore this suit out one night in Vegas. When you dress like this people probably think your rich or maybe they think you are somebody. I do not know what they think, but what they see is a guy in a bad ass suit. I was at an event at a hotel and people had to take a look. I heard, «nice suit» at least 10 times. I do not mean to be egomaniacal here, but later in the evening I went to a cocktail bar and the ladies were taking notice of me in the bad ass suit. I was standing there with my drink and probably one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen came up and started talking to me. It was the suit, maybe not the suit itself, but maybe the statement it made. I can’t put it into words but I will say this —- and this is not hyperbole —- this is the best suit maker in the United States. You would have to fly to Italy to match these suits.
