First let me start this review by saying I’ll be sharing some of my personal medical experience. Breast cancer runs in my family and I’ve had a few personal scares myself, so in the last eight years I’ve found being open about experiences with regard to this devastating disease is important. I’ve been a patient of Dr. Gardner sense 1999. I was first referred to him to aspirate a small, benign, nodule. With the area being on my left side, he warned me of my risks the promised he would do the best he could. I have very dense tissue, so I warned him he would have to be aggressive with his needle. In one jabbing motion he got to the target dead on. He removed what was necessary and all I ever felt was a little sore. Years later, I found it very hard lump in my breast. At that point my mother had been in remission from breast cancer for about six years, so I took what I found seriously and watched it for about two months. When it didn’t go away, I went to see Dr. Gardner again and this time he advised me I would need to be hospitalized. I noticed a few things changed in the office like some of the signs, but much of the staff was still there. I specifically noticed that he was working through comprehensive cancer centers. When I asked him about it he was polite enough to say that he was getting older and tired and thought he would leave the management to someone else. When I asked a friend who worked at the cancer registry about it, she told me the story about how comprehensive cancer centers specifically came to him because they wanted him to practice for them. On my next visit I talked to his nurse that I have known for so long, and she informed me that he never really wanted to retire completely, so this is what he decided to do. Well, let me tell you why I gave Dr. Gardner so many stars. Every appointment I have ever had with Dr. Gardner was completely professional. He is very matter-of-factly to the point, but also compassionate about his patients and the treatment that he renders. Both times he gave me all of my options for treatment, so I could make my own choice. He’s not the easiest position to get in to, but he doesn’t take any case lightly. His nursing staff has been nothing but professional with scheduling, return calls, questions, and billing. Some of his procedures can be scheduled in the outpatient center, and when it’s possible he’ll let you know. When he feels that your treatment is best accomplished at sunrise hospital, he will tell you why. Should you ever need his care in the hospital environment,(and I hope you or anyone you know never does) as soon as they realize you are a patient of Dr. Gardner’s they. are very particular about the way they do things. Why? Because he is so particular about the way he does things. After my surgery I found my pain to be minimal, as well is my incision and thus my scarring. As a matter fact, you can hardly notice anything was done. As soon as my biopsy was returned his staff called me promptly, and even when they had to leave a message started the sentence with«We have good news». Whew! I’m so glad they left a message that way! During my follow-ups over the last year and a half, Dr. Gardner has always been particular to not only read the reports of the radiologist that he has referred me to, but to read the films himself. Most doctors these days not only don’t do that, they don’t know how. I found over the years in mentioning that he is one of my physicians, I’ve heard nothing but good things about being in good hands. The replies I’ve received have not only been from people outside of the medical world, but people inside the medical and cancer world. If you or a loved one ever needs this type of treatment and you come across this review, I encourage you to call him immediately and without hesitation. Dr. Gardner has given me excellent care for the last 13 years, and I can only hope to find a physician as talented as he is later when he retires!
