Props to Jenny W. for being the 1st to try this place and Unilocal. The wife and I started with a coco frio each. The coconut milk is served over ice and the meat is served chopped in a plastic bag. Coconut meat can be bland, so I did as the locals and added chili sauce, the unmarked deep purple bottle, lime juice and salt. I’m Hispanic but have never tried the chili fruit thing. Always seemed odd to me. The taste was delicious and unique. The shrimp ceviche is much better than the fish ceviche. Nothing spectacular. I have had much better and cheaper, but it has been sometime. It was a fun experience, the owner was friendly and hard working, and we like to explore. The whole thing looks sketchy. Sketchy neighborhood, no name gas station, ceviche being sold from under a tarp in the Vegas sun. But the place was clean and the overall experience positive. Push yourself and explore.

Cocos Fríos specializes in coconut juice and ceviche. The owner cuts open coconuts with his machête with such automaticity. He pours the refreshing coconut juice in a cup and proceeds to cut up the coconut meat for you. He’ll also include real lime juice upon request. He has a bunch of different chili sauces for you to spice up your ceviche or coconut meat. The ceviche is the best ceviche I’ve had in a long while, with finely and freshly chopped up ingredients: fish, red onions, cucumber, tomatoes, and cilantro The acidity is well-balanced. This street vendor has a grade A, a portable hand sink, and is there around 11am and leaves around sunset. He is located on the corner of Rancho and Vegas. He only has two items on the menu, but he does his items really well. He also sells some Mexican snacks. His place is fun and a great pit stop on my way home.
