Best place on Fremont to see a band. The security isn’t all over everybody, there was seating along the bar and side wall. You can get right up to the stage, the only draw back is people smoking cigarettes everywhere.

Definitely gets an alternative spot vote. A Gothy hangout with people who care about how they dress. I’m talking black top hat, vampire capes and those little skeleton necklaces that make the girls look both dark and hot. Besides that there is a nice stage and pool tables. Heavy metal and techno music, smokey atmosphere.

I came here with a few friends on a bar hopping expedition on Fremont St. It very dark inside but the key areas(bar, pool tables and stage) are illuminated with blue lighting to set the mood. The stage had an old school look with a book case filled with records, pretty cool IMO. The bar tenders are friendly and drinks are reasonably priced. There wasn’t a band the night I went but I would definitely come back to check out some of the entertainment.

I really like this place. It was easy to see the stage, the acoustics were fine, the crowd was happy, and nobody bugs you to buy drinks. Also, the ladies restroom was clean and had plenty of stalls. The only thing I would have liked, was if they had more seating. They do have quite a few seats, but they were all taken. You can’t have everything though. I will definitely return. The people who complain about the venue apparently have never been to most of the dirty and uncomfortable clubs that are in LA. I’ll take this place, any day. There is a pay lot($ 5) directly in back of the club. Be prepared to tip the attendant, as well.

To loud for conversations and really no dancing going on. Need to balance the sound of the music.

Smokey hipster paradise. We went to see a concert there recently and waited over two hours after the ticket time for it to start. The place was filled with hipster douche bags and every other person was smoking. The lead singer actually threatened to stop playing if a group up front didn’t stop blowing smoke in his face. Love the band but the crowd and venue ruined the show for us. On the plus side, bartenders were really nice, and they had $ 3 beers.

I was in Las Vegas for work and a group of us wanted to check out Fremont street because it had been a while. We stumbled upon this billiard room and hung out for a while playing pool. It wasn’t that busy on a weeknight but we had a great kick back time playing and relaxing off the strip. Inexpensive drinks and good music.

What makes Backstage Bar & Billiards stand out from other concert venues is that they actually allow crowd surfing, smoking, and re-entry. Mosh pits were practically unregulated. People that crowd surfed their way onto the stage were unceremoniously shoved off. Another very cool feature of the venue was that members of the lineup bands mingled with patrons. This may be due to the nature of the bands playing(Carnival of Death Tour 2014). Bands were selling their merch along the back wall and watching the shows with the rest of us. Basically, if you’re out for a rockin’ good time, Backstage Billiards can definitely provide that kind of atmosphere. The venue itself was decent sized. There was ample seating which my tired feet and legs are grateful for. Couches lined along the right side of the wall and stools were at the bar and scattered throughout the venue. There were 2 pool tables that occupied the center of the bar. It’s not like anyone is going to play pool during a concert, so these were just in the way. Unfortunately, the bar does not have draft beer. To me, this is unacceptable. If you’re going to call yourself a bar, you better have some beer on tap! PBR short cans were $ 4 each. Ouch. Service was okay — the bar was pretty slammed and there were only 2 bartenders. Backstage Bar & Billiards is set up in a great location at Downtown Fremont. It’s a stone’s throw away from the newly opened Market, Container Park, and Le Thai. I look forward to seeing more bands play here in the future. :)

I went here for a Drink N Draw event and had a blast! I would really love to review the event itself… but since they don’t have a Unilocal page(that I can locate) I’ll review the space since we also watched a few live acts and utilized their bar. The venue is pretty spacious and grungy… which I tend to like. They were asked to turn the lights up a little for the event and it was still pretty dark, so I can only imagine how it normally is. The staff was super friendly and attentive… whenever we were near the bar(which is pretty darn spacious), we’d get asked if we needed anything. The sound was good… loud — to be expected since there was a show going on — but clear. I would definitely go see a live act there again. It’s not really a lounge type area… there are a few places to sit(aside from the bar) but not a ton… this is more of a converse/biker boots type of place than a place to wear heels… but to each their own. It’s a pretty obvious place to find given that the sign is so big… so it shouldnt be hard to find. There is also street parking near by(we went on a week day) which we found convenient.

Seems like they get some great bands that come through here, but I’d personally hesitate before coming back… it’s SO loud! Made me feel really old being there… like a dirty bar I would hang out at when I was barely 21! I think I’d prefer a bit of a nicer venue. The tall, thick white guy bartender(sorry I forgot his name) was really helpful and friendly! They had some cool drink special where I got another concert ticket for another upcoming show.(Gave the ticket away)

Great beer selection and music. Décor was very rock n roll– flight cases! Service was speedy, but not in a «hurry up and leave» sort. I highly recommend going here over other places downtown… and especially if you can’t afford drinks on the strip(or patience for amateurs and Neanderthals). Looking forward to my next visit to BBB!

I like the layout of the Backstage, Bar & Billiards, but I’m not really sure what they’re going for; is it a live concert venue or pool hall? I was here last Saturday and just decided to pop-in for a bit to check out the place. They were charging $ 5 at the door, but if you’re playing pool you get in for free, how do they regulate that…“Ummm, yeah. I’m here to play pool”, I told the door guy. As I walked in and looked around the first thing I noticed was the décor; Led Zeppelin framed tour-shirts, a lot of label issued gold records on the walls, and the use of road-cases as stools surrounding the bar, these looked cool although I can’t imagine them being too comfortable after awhile. They also had Limp Bizkit and House of Pain stuff everywhere and this almost garnered a two star review. But after doing some homework I found out that one of the co-founders of the BBB used to be the DJ in these two bands… or something. The drinks were strong and fairly inexpensive by Vegas standards. The place was pretty empty and the band was still setting up, so I decided to play some pool after all. The cost $ 10 an hour so depending on how good you are; this is either a great deal or highway robbery, I’m somewhere in between. My GF and I played pool for a while and watched a few of the local bands performing that night. I might have just been here on a off night, but the crowd felt very young and almost«high school cliquey». A lot of «kids» were running around to each group and whispering stuff? I don’t know what was going on here. After our hour of pool was up we decided to call it a night at BBB and said our farewells. The staff here was great, the drinks were strong and the venue has a cool look, but I’ll definitely have to come back when they have bigger acts playing. Maybe a few more booties in the door and a couple more shots of whiskey will liven this place up next time.

This looks like a great venue for concerts, a few pool tables, cushioned seats along the walls and a large dance floor space. I love the old record players displayed on the wall and the speaker case bar stools(although not very comfortable). However there were several issues. 1) no one was there for the show and it was a very good local band Eddy Bear and the Cubbies. This leads me to believe there is something lacking in the marketing area as there were certainly people walking up and down freemont. 2) They had no beer on tap. Nothing. It looked like their taps were broken. 3) The bartender took our order and gave us our first round and then never came up to us again for a refill even though we were the only one in the bar. I will say this though, the pour was very generous and my drink was the way I like it, strong! This place has potential, but empty, it just reminded me of college parties after everyone had gone home.

Great venue for live music, great staff on hand, stellar management, and perfect location. Right in the heart of the Fremont East District, BBB has surpassed Beauty Bar as my favorite concert venue downtown. Less Hipster, more Rock and Roll! This place could become the top local indie music venue in Vegas…

Here for an event that my friend wanted to attend but the venue was seedy. How did I even get dragged there?! It looks bad and smells worse. Nowhere to sit down and the place wreaked of cigarettes, I couldn’t even handle being in there for more than a couple minutes, they need to work on their ventilation. The place is just dirty.

Fun little venue downtown. They have a very unique stage for such a small venue, inexpensive covers to see some pretty great bands. Though there is room for improvement on the sound, when i saw Guttemouth you could barley hear the vocals. Of course that was probably the fault of whoever was behind the mixing board but that still should never happen at a live show. Previously I saw Pully play at Backstage and there was no sound issues. I will definitely be back

This place looks like what would happen if you were forced to decorate a bar with what was left behind after someone robbed the Duluth, MN Hard Rock Café. It’s a cross between a Spencer’s Gifts and a Zima commercial –with expensive drinks served in Dixie cups. I guess it’s okay if you want to see who’s playing… but I’m not likely to pop in otherwise.

Cool place, good sound system, and a good location if that area is part of your normal routine. I thought the prices on booze were a little high, but all things considered, a few beers or cocktails won’t drive you broke. They are starting to book more divers bands, so I can only imagine this place taking off over the next year.

Stumbled around Fremont with a buddy that rolled into town for the weekend. He used to play pool for food stamps when he was a kid in West Virginia and is a master of the felt table. It seemed only fitting that we stop in so that I could receive my trashing. BB&B had a great vibe with everyone enjoying themselves. No «hard guy» attitudes being thrown around just happy people drinking, listening to music and enjoying pool.
