I had kinda quit going to Schlotzky’s here. I am old enough to that I have been to the original Austin store, many times in San Antonio in the 20 years I lived there. The one here in Cruces wasn’t as good as I remember. But we went today. Wow, now that’s how I remember Schlotzky’s! I got the Deluxe Original(original with double meat) on their original sourdough bun. Really good. The bread was fresher than I had been, the meat was just the right amount, and the veggies were just right. Not too much, not too little. I’ll surely will be back.

I don’t know why this place has such bad reviews! The food is really good just like I would expect from Schlotzsky’s! I will say that we kinda stood waiting at the counter for someone to show up. We had to poke our heads around to catch someone’s attention but after that our food came out quickly and our server let us know that if we needed anything to just let him know. They also had sweetened green tea which was cool since they usually just have unsweetened tea, sweetened and sweetened raspberry tea. I love green tea btw.

I came here with my boss, for take-out(business trip). He’s a huge fan of this chain and swears by it. I, however, wasn’t impressed with my sandwich. It was just okay. I didn’t try to finish it. I prefer subway.

Store has a Carvel Ice Cream section. Consistently bad ice cream cones. Staff need to learn how to make a cone. Have not had chocolate sprinkles for months(they sell them at the grocery store folks) Today I was offered my sprinkles(rainbow) in a little plastic cup. I was at the drive up window. Was told they don’t stick well so they give them«on the side».Hint;, you are supposed hold the cone sideways over the sprinkles while using a spoon to help apply them. You don’t drop them over the top. not sure how to eat sprinkles on the side while driving. Just consistently disappointed in the quality.

It took 10 minutes after my husband and myself walked into the restaurant to even be acknowledged. Even worse we were two of maybe six people there all together! The lady who actually did take our order seemed like she didn’t even want to be there and it just seemed obvious that she just wanted to get our order so that way she could go back to whatever she was doing before. The food did come out and in a timely order. The 2 sandwiches were good. The coffee tasted old like it had been sitting for a while. The Cinnabon is just gross. The icing looks greenish yellow and the roll itself tastes like dust. The roll is so hard the plastic knife won’t cut it. When the food was actually given to us the lady just placed it on the table and walked away without saying anything.

We stopped on for a quick bite while on the road. My wife told me of the glory that was Schlotzky’s before we stopped. What could be better than pizza and sandwiches, I thought. Someone behind the counter didn’t know how to melt cheese. So, The pizza we had was cold and greasy. It tasted like dirty stripper panties. I ended up throwing most of it away. Needless to say, I’ll be leaving my wife when we get home for recommending this place. Thanks Schlotzky’s

I had the Fiesta Chicken sandwich. Great size, great flavors all around. My family enjoyed all their food from the Kids pepperoni and cheese pizzas and their cookie that comes with the kids meal to my husbands Turkey Bacon Club. We will be back again. Great service as well.

The good: Sandwich and pizzas were good. Overall service was friendly. Restaurant was clean.(4 stars) The bad: We ordered a couple of ice creams, one of which was a sundae with a cherry on top. The cherry was absolutely disgusting. It was possibly fermented and an hour after biting into it I could still taste it. I pointed this out to the employees and manager. After trying a cherry himself, the manager confirmed that they just weren’t right. He then replaced the cherries and asked me if I wanted a couple of the good ones. I said«no thank you». To me they should have, at the very least, given me a coupon for a free sundae in the future.(1 star) The second thing that sort of rubbed me the wrong way was when I asked for a to-go box. The person I asked had just gotten off work, which I was unaware of, and was standing by the counter. She informed me that she had just clocked out. I said«sorry» and then waited in line for another employee to give me a to-go box. The off duty worker could have walked maybe 15 ft to retrieve the box for me and saved me the wait.(1 star) I will probably eat their again but will not rush back. The little things are what can make or break a restaurant for me and I feel like this Schlotzsky’s failed twice. Hopefully somebody at Schlotzsky’s will read this and make the needed adjustments.
