Wow. Never again. Service was slow and there was only three tables total in the dining room. Food was not timed properly leading to one of our table mates getting his Katsu Bento Box almost 20 minutes before we even got our sushi. Then we come to find out the server forgot to order one of our rolls. We waited another 10 minutes. No manager approached our table to check in and see how the meal was going otherwise we could have let them know of our experience. Very disappointing.

I got a soju mix, miso soup, and some sushi. Of course, don’t expect for fresh fish in Las Cruces. The sushi is creative and different from its origin but I enjoyed it. The soju mix was either strong or my tolerance has gone down, but it was tasty and served in this cute little Buddha! I have worked in a Japanese restaurant back in California and I really don’t know what was in this miso soup but it definitely didn’t look like miso soup to me. Service was good. Lunch time was not busy. I entered not having a high expectation. The quality was what I expected out of Las Cruces for Japanese food.

I really loved this place the first two times I went, but recently I went for lunch and explicitly said, «Please don’t give me any sushi with egg.» So what did I get? A sushi roll with egg in a combo platter. I wouldn’t complain if I hadn’t said it 3 times and if there had actually been customers competing for the waitress’s attention. I just don’t get it. Isn’t the whole idea of asking for what you want supposed to result in getting what you want? Thankfully, they took the price of the roll off my order, but I had to ask for this accommodation since they didn’t offer to do anything about it even though I told them I couldn’t eat it. So, I think I’ll look for a new place to eat sushi. Most people tell me I’m crazy for eating raw fish in New Mexico, but I just love the stuff too much to give it up just because I’m landlocked! Die hard sushi fans will get this.
