I’m a vegetarian I know pasta. Is angle hair pasta supposed to be crunchy? The menu did not state it as angle hair, I never said a word just ate what I could and had another bucket of wine. The server did his best as he was doing everything but parking cars. And at this time of year you would think the salad would be less than rubber, it was rubber, I was hungry I ate it under protest had another bucket of wine. Sorry I would not go there again unless I had a gun to my back, good luck Fabio

Great food. Great service. Pleasant setting. My friends and I had a long wonderful uninterrupted lunch. We found this restaurant because of its rating on Unilocal and would definitely recommend it.

We have been dining at Fabrizio’s weekly for years. Yesterday arriving for lunch we noticed a Change of Ownership sign in the window. Very surprised we asked if the wait staff, menu and chefs were still the same? We were told(by a waitress we’ve never seen before) yes, everything was exactly the same! Again I asked and again I was told ALL remained the same! My mother-in-law and I ordered two items we have ordered for years… to our surprise they were prepared completely different. Nowhere near the quality we have come to know over more than 20 years! My mother-in-law always orders a dish to bring home for dinner and it too was a disappointment. She actually tossed the entire plate! I completely understand Fabrizio moving on in retirement(we were told) but the new ownership should be honest about the obvious changes. We won’t be back! Fabrizio’s is gone!

I have to admit. I’ve heard a lot about this place but I just wasn’t impressed. Things started badly when we walked in and they’d written our reservation down for the wrong time. My food was pretty run of the mill pasta. Just not what I’d call fab.

I have been to several Italian restaurants in the area, but I keep returning to Fabrizio’s. Why? As the daughter of a restaurant owner, there are a few things I pay attention to that perhaps the average diner doesn’t notice. Fabrizio is there EVERYDAY. He is constantly monitoring the floor. He is generous to his customers and genuinely friendly. The restaurant is very clean and the quality of the food is excellent. I have not had ONE bad experience here. Ever. Elena is typically our server and she does it with a huge smile. She remembers what kind of wine we like and that my boyfriend and I enjoy port. We decided on a whim to spend New Year’s Eve there. What a treat! Not only was the meal delicious, Elena had decorated the restaurant and there was live entertainment! It was so much fun and we were so happy to see Fabrizio enjoying himself as well! We will continue to come here again and again!

Local Italian restaurant in downtown that has a warm attentive staff. The food is no frills but simple good Italian. The prices are a bit high, but it is Marin and in downtown. Favorite dish here is the veal parm. So tender and juicy! And don’t forget to get a tiramisu for dessert.

Coming from an Italian Family… I can be pretty darn picky about my Italian Food! I can still remember BOTH my great-grandmother AND my grandmother’s home cooked meals vividly. Fabrizio’s Ristorante is quite possibly my favorite Italian Restaurant in Marin County. You cannot beat their Early Bird Special! You would be hard pressed to find another restaurant that serves that much quality food for such a great price. The service is exemplary — I never EVER feel rushed — and they are friendly & super attentive. I love the outdoor seating area on a nice evening, too. Wine by the glass will get you a very generous pour & it’s always excellent. I love that they have the«Standards» but also seasonal classic Italian dishes. For example — I came in one evening this past summer & enjoyed Fiori di Zucchine(fried zucchini flowers)!!! Those were a standard in our kitchen… it was so great to see them on a Restaurant Menu! :) Go here & enjoy! You will not regret it! I HIGHLY recommend the Early Bird Special — but I have YET to have a poor dish here. I am super grateful to my dearest full-blooded Italian friend for turning me on to this awesome restaurant! Yay! Go, enjoy & mangia!

Good menu and tasty food. Staff is very nice. Offered us a complimentary white port that I’ve never had before. Try the Fabrizio Special dessert. It’s a tiramisu, gelato and zabaglione all wrapped in one

As «Yelpers», we didn’t hesitate to try this restaurant once we read the reviews. To our delight, we were not disappointed. Even though we arrived close to their closing hour, Fabrizio welcomed us in. My wife ordered the wine(which was a healthy serving) and I had a Peroni(which I had forgotten how good it tastes). Fabrizio had sent us a calamari plate that was delicious — on him!!! It was fresh calamari with red onions and peppers in a vinaigrette. It was fresh and delightful and thoughtful of the owner to offer us a free serving of something he enjoyed! We ordered the bacon wrapped asparagus with shrimp in a bourdelaise sauce as our starter. I could have ordered an entered plate of that to myself. It was magic! The flavors were amazing. The shrimp was portioned just right. The asparagus spears were crunchy and — well — you can’t mess up bacon. The starter is worth a try. My wife ordered the ricotta and spinach stuffed tortella and I had the chicken parmigiana. My wife loved the pasta. It was fresh and made in the house. I tried it and told her that I could use a plate of that to go. It is that delicious. My chicken parmagiana was delicious, too. Very good flavor and the sides were delicious, too. The potatoes had a hint of rosemary and garlic and the veggies were cooked just right. We mentioned we were on our honeymoon making our way to Napa and they were nice enough to offer us a gelato each, sweet wine and as we left, Fabrizio gave us a bottle of champagne to celebrate(Thanks again!) and some delicious biscotti. This restaurant truly is a gem. We could not stop talking about how wonderful it was. It left such an impression on us that we’re gonna try to come back right after Napa. Cheers, Fabrizio. You’re restaurant is a wonderful establishment.

My boyfriend and I had one of the best meals we’ve ever had in Marin last night and I’ve been thinking all morning I needed to write them a review. I expected to see many similar sentiments on here! I believe the wonderful man who waited on us was part of the ownership, so maybe that was the main difference between our experience and that of some of the other reviewers. Nonetheless, we were very impressed! We thought there was a lovely atmosphere, awesome service and the best tasting Italian around! We had bread with oil and balsamic, a perfect house salad, prosciutto wrapped asparagus(yum!) and pasta entrees. They both were great, but his meat raviolis were to die for! We will definitely be back soon.

What an over-priced nightmare! I ate here with a big family group and it was one of the longest(3+ hours), most excruciating, most unappetizing dinners I’ve ever had. It was like this: sit down, wait 15 minutes, waiter brings you bread(with no butter), wait another 15 minutes, order, wait 20 minutes, the waiter serves the appetizer(which was disgusting), wait another 30 minutes, the waiter serves a wilted salad with NO dressing at all(yuck), wait 30 minutes, the waiter brings nasty ravioli, wait another 30 minutes, the waiter finally brings the main course: ice cold, undercooked potatoes, ice cold veggies, and ice cold chicken DROWNING in some horrific artichoke sauce. And, to add insult to injury, their beer selection sucks ass! You couldn’t PAYME to eat here again!!!

What happened to this place? Once upon a time you could go in and get a nice meal. The caesar salad used to be the best in Marin. The last time I was in the service was as slow as ever. I had an appetizer of fried shrimp where the batter formed a ball around the shrimp causing it to taste more like a shrimp stuffed hush puppy. Not quite what I was expecting. The lamb shank was just ok, a bit on the bland side. The polenta was lumpy and cooled very quickly leading me to believe it had sat around waiting to be delivered. The tiramisu was adequate.

love these guys. really friendly staff that remembers your face if you come in more than once. I can tell these guys are really passionate about food. I ordered a glass of wine, and the owner started talking about a certain cheese that goes really well with what I ordered. why don’t you try it, he say? and he brought out a helping of the fancy cheese on a platter. complementary. sure enough it was awesome. my veal Parmesan was great. pounded thin and tender with a delicate sauce that was not overpowering. Fabrizio goes for simple and subtle taste. nothing crazy but just a comfortable and tasty meal in their cozy and romantic dining room. I’ve had meals at other places that have more wow factor. but if you feel like a comfortable laid back meal with friends or a date, this place is great!

Food is good, a little pricy, but I was disappointed by the service we received. I am not referring to waiter, he was great. I am referring to the host who was overly friendly with what seemed to be the regular clientele, but barely gave us the time of day. Despite the restaurant not being busy when we arrived, we were sat in the back toward the kitchen, which was not ideal considering everyone else who arrived before and after us was offered a table outside and in the front of the restaurant. I was extremely disappointed because my family has always loved this restaurant and growing up, when I lived in Larkspur, we would come here for holidays and special occasions. I took my boyfriend after telling him how wonderful their food is I was excited to share a childhood experience with him since he is not from the area. Being a young couple, we almost felt discriminated against because we weren’t «regulars» or apart of their common demographic which appeared to be older and caucasian.

This place is amazing. Love it. I will truly miss this place. The owner is the best. He will spoil you rotten. You are safe to order anything on the menu — because everything is so authentic and italian. It is ridiculously amazing. The setting and ambiance is so rustic italian.

Tonight our family had a birthday party at Frabrizio’s… I am torn leaving a 2 star review… it would probably be about 2.5 stars as an over all experience. The food was actually decent(some plates great, others mediocre), but our server was terrible and kind of had me going nuts in my brain from shortly after arrival. Let’s start with the good part of the experience which was the food. I ordered the Caesar Salad and the Petrale Sole. The Caesar wasn’t very good… soggy lettuce, and heavily over dressed… however the croutons were good. The Sole was delicious… I would give it a 4 star rating. I tasted my mother’s salmon which I would give 4.5 stars. The food here definitely has potential so I understand the ratings. Let’s get to the bad part… our server. Granted it was busy upon arrival, but I have had fancier service at a Denny’s. From the moment upon arrival it was clear she didn’t have a lot of time for us, and hurriedly took our orders after we didn’t see her for 15 minutes from getting the menus. She never asked if we had questions or discussed specials. She forgot the drink that I ordered for over 20 minutes until I reminded her. She served plates from the left, from the right, from over the top of peoples heads, from across the table. She handed people plates rather than placing them in front of us. She brought our entrees out with our appetizers still on the table, handing us the plates and allowing us to shuffle our appetizer plates on our own. As an ex fine dining server, I cringed at every movement. We had to request for our waters to be refilled. Then she auctioned off the food(didn’t remember who ordered what), and when setting our desert forks reached across the table setting them for half our party facing the wrong way. It isn’t that I think she didn’t care — I think she is untrained and clueless. The bus boys were decent. My favorite part was when she served 8 Caesar salads, and didn’t offer fresh cracked pepper — when I could see the pepper grinder about 14 feet away on the counter. I signaled a bus boy who brought the waiter back to crack pepper to nearly everyone in our party. The owner of the place was friendly and a gentlemen — he served us free biscotti at the end of the meal which was nice. I feel bad leaving him this review, as he obviously runs a successful place… but the service ruined my experience from the get go tonight.

This must be Larkspur’s best kept secret! Spent the evening with family here and we were treated as family. The flavors were fantastico, the deserts melted… be sure to slow down and let the flavors be fully experienced.

You know that cinema trick where happy music is playing and suddenly someone rips the needle across the record and the next scene is a chaotic sh*tstorm that makes you forget anything pleasant that came before? That’s the way things went down at Fabrizio’s at the end of a recent dinner when we brought out a certificate entitling us to: «dinner for two at Fabrizio’s courtesy of _________, $ 75 maximum, alcohol included». Our waiter’s response to this gift certificate was«We don’t take those anymore.» After our waiter disappeared twice to speak to the owner then reappeared twice with the same response, we asked to speak to the owner directly who reiterated his reasons for no longer accepting these gift certificates(he claims he has trouble getting reimbursed by the issuer). Why exactly that should be my problem is a mystery to me. I received the certificate honorably, as a gift from another business owner, it had no restrictions or expiration date, and it didn’t include a notation that it be presented prior to dining just in case the owner has decided he no longer likes the arrangement. So, what had been a fairly nice evening until this point quickly turned into a complete suckfest. The owner, who sure knows how to pop the«customer is always right» bubble eventually offered to split the bill with us and, sick of haggling, we reluctantly okayed his solution. We didn’t need that extra $ 40 anyhow, right? We would have been out of pocket even more had I not inquired about the extra wine charges on our bill(almost $ 25 for what should have been $ 12). The owner corrected that error after I remarked on it. As we signed the bill that we’d never expected to have to pay, our waiter came by with some«complimentary» port. Had they honored the certificate, we might have ordered up port on our own, paying for it and leaving as satisfied, possibly repeat customers. Somewhere along the way I think someone forgot that the customer is king. P. S. Check your bill. Better yet, go somewhere else.
