So this is one of those cases in which I wish I had read the reviews before ordering.
Larchmont wine was the only online business selling 2004 Rombauer merlot, according to
, so when my inlaws finished the last bottle I had bought for them previously, I decided to restock them from Larchmont.
As noted above, Larchmont was unwilling to ship to Michigan in cold weather. We waited all through January and February and early March before shipping.
In May, my wife and inlaws had some and rated it somewhere between bad and undrinkable, totally contrary to previous experiences with 2004 Rombauer.
When I called to see if Larchmont Wine and Liquor would redress this, I was rebuffed. No refund or store credit or customer satisfaction would be forthcoming.
So consider yourself warned: eccentric service and stern policies against your wine-​drinking pleasure make Larchmont a choice to be made with careful consideration.
