Pretty good place. I really enjoy their dinners but the sushi is a little sub-par. I really love that you can get miso soup and salad with every meal and it’s a fairly cheap option when you’re looking for Japanese or Korean food.

Ok I’ve gone twice now. The sushi rice both times was hard, stale, and reminiscent of grocery store sushi. I had a bento box, the chicken breast was chewy like it was frozen until I ordered it. Sauce was ok on it, the tempora batter was pretty good on the veg. I’m probably not going to go back, rice is too important to me.

I wish I lived next door. This place has one of best food ever! I always order either their bulgulgi or their beef teriyaki. Both are flavorful and have good portion for its price. Their bibimbap is also a favorite of mine Lastly their customer service is always good, and do their best to please the customer.

This place looks like a cardboard box from the outside but don’t let that deter you if you’re on the North/West side. This is the best sushi outside of East Lansing but it definitely isn’t on par with the cluster of sushi joints near campus. Still, Sushi Moto is fine and the fish tastes fresh. Presentation is nice as well although I think they over do the sauce portions. Prices are a bit on the high end for sushi but the rolls are larger than standard if you’re going for the basics(like a Cali roll).

On a recent trip to Lansing, we used our Unilocal app to find sushi moto. Hands down the best sushi restaurant I have ever been to. Gorgeous layout and presentation. The taste was phenomenal, you have to try the sweet potato tempura roll, it was heaven. And the steak and asparagus appetizer melts in your mouth. We are looking forward to planning another trip just to visit sushi moto again.

This place is an awesome hole in the wall place. The calamari is super good. All the combos are really reasonably priced and great way to try a variety of rolls. I haven’t had one bad thing here.

This is a great sushi place! It used to be very busy every time we went, and it has not been as of late. Not sure why that is… Anywho the sushi is great! Yes a little pricy, but the portions are more than worth it. I’m never disappointed in the rolls or bento boxes. That said, the miso soup and salad was MEH this last time we went. Iceburg lettuce wasn’t very fresh, Also, I felt that the edamame was MEH as well. So I guess yes I was a little disappointed this last time with it overall, hence the 3 stars. Come to think of it we were one of only a few in there and the service was very slow… maybe that’s why business is down lately? I do hope they step their game back up tho! The sushi is the best!

Our favorite sushi place. We try to get something different every time as well as our favorites — the passion roll and dragon roll. Today we tried the Sunday Morning roll… wonderful. Now we have three favorites.

I have been coming here regularly for the past year. I am so happy to have found this Sushi place out of the myriad Sushi restaurants in the greater Lansing area. The service is always great, the food comes out fast and the menu is expansive. Prices are more than fair. Miso soup and salad comes with most rolls. My favorite rolls are the YumYum roll and the House roll. It is a little difficult to find and the parking lot is small but I would highly recommend dining here.

I ordered take out while I was on the road. The first time I called they didn’t pick up the phone. I called a second time and a woman answered the phone and took my order. When I pulled into the parking lot I was the only car there. It was 3:30pm. I went inside and told the man who approached me that I had a take out order. He told me to wait and then went in the back. 5 minutes later a woman emerged and asked me what my order was. I told her and she packed it up. All in all it took about 30 minutes from the time I called, drove there and then finally got my food. Because they didn’t seem to care about the service I’m giving them a three. The food was 4 star quality. The miso in particular was 5 star quality. Unfortunately they didn’t give me anything to eat my soup with. Being that I travel for work frequently, I had a spoon in my car so I didn’t have to drink it from the bowel.

This place is great … sushi is good, they give good portions, the price is reasonable, there friendly and they are clean. They have a pretty wide selection of sushi and other food incase you have a friend that does not like sushi but you want some. I like the passion roll great amount of spicy and very filling. Try the D19 if you want a lot of spicy ! ;-)

It doesn’t look like much from the parking lot, but inside there is cozy ambiance and pretty décor. Think: classy enough to do business lunch, but intimate enough for date night. You get free miso soup & salad for rolls $ 6+(although portion size was slightly smaller than we are used to, the ginger dressing was delicious). We tried the YumYum Roll & Milky White Tuna(not sure if I got the name of the second one correct). Both rolls were delicious. Pricing was comparable to sushi restaurants in East Lansing(we prefer Sansu, Maru, and Omi for East Lansing). Green tea for me & Sapporo for him(they only had bottled, but offered 2 sizes). Service was friendly and prompt. So glad to have found this on the West side of Lansing. I will definitely be back again(would like to try the lunch specials).

I ordered a tamago, a salmon nigiri, a yellowtail roll and a rainbow roll the other night from Sushi Moto. While the fish was tasty in all of these instances, what bothered me the most was the quality of the rice. They did NOT use sushi-grade rice, and it definitely detracted from the overall sushi experience here. The rice was hard and dry, and did not complement the fish well. Ugh. How utterly disappointing.

Sushi moto is fine. The food is clean, the atmosphere is nice for any social setting… nonthreatening for colleagues and nice enough to take a date. Its quiet, it has dimmed lighting. Its really the only sushi place on the west side so you don’t really have much of a choice if you are not wanting to drive to e. Lansing. I think the portions you get are on the small side so I can’t give it a perfect score… but the food is good, and it’s a solid establishment.

Good sushi place and good restaurant. The highlights: –The dressing on my side salad at lunch was delicious and gingery, I want the recipe! –The wasabi paste and pickled ginger that came with my sushi roll were good quality. –There were many sushi rolls to choose from and we all were happy with our choices. –The waitress catered to my two young children(1 yr and 2 and ½) so well. She saw we were giving my son spoonfuls of hot tea so she brought him his own in a kid-friendly cup without us asking. Then she rigged up a pair of chopsticks with a rubber band so my son could use the chopsticks, again, without us asking. She also served the food away from their reach and was friendly towards them. Its a big deal when dining with small children.

I found Sushi Moto while looking for a good sushi and Japanese restaurant in Lansing. They were not busy on a Wednesday night. The restaurant was pleasant and calm. I sat at the bar as I was on my own. The service was excellent. The waitress brought my tea immediately(their hot green tea is very good, better than the standard). The meal came with miso soup and a small green salad with their ginger dressing. Their ginger dressing was good, slightly different than others I’ve had. It was light and less intense ginger than others. I like the intense ginger but I know not everyone is a fan. I had the Mr. Crabby Patty roll and a few pieces of nigiri. Another reviewer mentioned some difficulty with the rice falling apart/not sticking together the way it should. I also had this issue with both the sushi rolls and nigiri including salmon and tuna. Another reviewer mentioned difficulty with the stickiness of the rice. I had the same issue. While everything else about the restaurant and the meal was wonderful, this was the one issue I had. Picking up the piece of fish with the rice was pretty much impossible. The rice just fell apart. I also had the udon soup(with a piece of shrimp tempura, egg and veggies). I wish that there was another piece of tempura and more veggies. The main vegetable in the soup was a type of green leafy vegetable. The broth was nice though, it had a good flavor. Moto had several interesting rolls on their menu. I think this would be a good place to go with a larger group where several rolls could be ordered and shared.

3 Trips, no charm needed. I wanted a good sushi spot near home and I got it! My first two trips were during lunch. I enjoyed their lunch special $ 8.99 for 2 rolls(cali and spicy tuna), miso soup, salad with great ginger dressing and a slice of seasonal fruit. The price, the options and the dessert are all a girl needs. The third time was for dinner with a friend so I explored the menu more. I found they had udon, and so much more! They have a very extended menu to be such a low key place on the west side of Lansing. My friend ordered the edamame. I was hesitant because most times it’s too salty or too tough. The beans were warm and just tender enough. Get this the salt was blended not a tastebud shock. She also ordered a roll and udon. The udon was nice, the broth was miso and it had all the normal trappings of good noodles and egg and meat, she was pleased. Her roll was a little more fishy than most would like but prepared and presented well. Her japanese beer was a good selection offered by the waitress as well. My Mango Salmon roll! oh My Gosh! It was beautiful to my eyes and tongue. This was the kind of roll that did not need wasabi or soy sauce but it complemented the roll so well. I can’t wait to have it again. The salmon and mango were angle sliced and outside the rice. I never checked to see what was inside the rice as my tongue wanted all the action. My drink was one of their many cold sakes. It was crisp, mildly sweet and refreshing. I’ll be back. Regularly My only critique is the rolls don’t stay put so well when you pick them up. I may need a good chop stick lesson but I really think those rolls could be sealed better. I’m always seated immediately and the service is great. Oh and the ambiance is set with Japanese language versions of pop songs. Nice touch.

I’ve been to Sushi Moto tons of times. It’s a very good restaurant. It’s not huge, it’s more intimate. I’ve gone a few times in the summer, right at the beginning of lunch service. I don’t know of the air conditioner was broke but it was too hot to eat in there. They have a wide selection of sushi rolls. The bento boxes portions are huge. You definitely won’t leave hungry. The service is precise and quick!

If you’ve never tried sushi before this is an excellent place to start with. I had the gyoza dumplings which is pork dumplings and I tried the yum yum roll which was salmon, tuna and crab. But the one I tried didn’t have crab in it. It was very good and did not taste very fishy. Service was very fast and food was not expensive. I would love to come here again.

I had lunch here — the vegetarian bento box. I think it was right around $ 9 for soup, salad and the box. The sushi roll had 4 pieces, there were 2 wontons, 4 pieces of large tofu, a number of pieces of tempura and a ½ orange. Overall it was very good. The price was reasonable. The didn’t give me wasabi or ginger — the best part of sushi. But the waitress was very busy. I found one other sushi place while in town that I preferred, but if you are there and looking for lunch, it is a great option.
