What a gem! Everything here is uniquely different and amazingly delicious. Korean BBQ slider, tuna tartare, and even the way they makes their fries and tots are really good. The chef has a definite talent!

Give it 5 yo! Sarah and Katie were super friendly. The food is superior! I could tell after the first bite this is not your run of the mill bar food. The chef knows what he is doing and the ingredients are top notch. After 17years in the restaurant industry, it is refreshing to find gems like Makies. The music is good too! Korean slider is my fav.

I always have an appreciation for those who try to put a new twist on something important to them, who make the effort to bring something different to a place where business is already booming and there seems to be little room for anything that is not already established and well-received. There is a win, of sorts, in the effort alone. But the effort does not necessarily lead to success, even when it seems that it should. That is why it is so refreshing when it does, indeed, work. Mackie’s Biergarten, the all-outdoors Asian Fusion spot that offers a twist on things not readily available nearby, is a welcome addition to the local restaurant scene and is a perfect fit in the Fayetteville culture that has truly taken on an identity all its own in recent years. In a newspaper article that accompanied the opening, the owner declared his desire to «bring the European model of ‘sitting out, talking with friends, and enjoying a beer’ to America», bridging the gap between casual dining and fast food. Mission accomplished. Despite sharing a building with the Bridge Walk offices, there is no indoor seating, only table seating covered by an awning, but nothing short of a monsoon will affect the experience. On the night I attended, the weather quickly turned from cool and overcast to a windy downpour, but the only adjustment needed was to slide the table a foot closer to the wall and we stayed perfectly dry. The food is, for the most part, full of flavor, reasonably priced, and prepared very well. Fusion food is always risky, especially in a locale where most tend to stay within their circle and rarely venture beyond the confines of their comfort zone. To introduce a menu that brings together Southern-style flavors with Vietnamese, Korean, and Greek, to name a few, is a roll of the dice, but the results are solid. Make no mistake, this is not the place to go if you’re looking to stuff your face with plate after plate of comfort food. This is about the experience on the whole: Food, friends, and a relaxing evening of conversation and turning down the volume on the rest of the world for a while. In a menu full of sliders, the SoFlo is at the top of the list. Featuring fried chicken topped with avocado, red onion, Buffalo sauce, cilantro, and a house made avocado crema, the blend of heat and buttery richness is paired with the unmistakable flavor of cilantro to make for a fusion flavor that is better than the rest. So many of the so-called«super foods» taste neutral at best and terrible at worst, but the versatility of avocado has made it a culinary favorite in recent years because it can be used in so many ways, in so many dishes, and this slider is a prime example. The flavor, the texture, and the value all make the SoFlo the best of the bunch. The Chicken Salad slider is packed with as much of the mix as it can take and the leaf lettuce adds color and a nice crunch. The chicken salad is a bold flavor, perhaps a bit too much so as the green curry can be overpowering, muting the tangy bite of the rest of the salad, and could be way too much for those not accustomed to the use of curry in their meals, or who are expecting the same chicken salad that they would try at the local church picnic. The slider is good, but not for those who aren’t expect exactly what they are going to get. I love a good Philly Cheesesteak, provided it is authentic, and can appreciate a variation when done properly, but the Philly slider was my only disappointment. The sliced ribeye was okay but not spectacular, even a little dry, the cheese sauce had flavor but was certainly not plentiful, and the slider just did not quite work as it was structured. The taste was rather bland and the texture was dry, necessitating some kind of additional sauce as a source of both flavor and moisture. That one change, perhaps a roasted garlic mayo or garlic aioli, or even a nice coating of some regular Duke’s mayo, would make the Philly several times better. The Loaded Tater Tots are exactly that, a single order almost a meal on its own. The fresh tots covered in cheese sauce, sriracha chili sauce, chopped green onion, and cilantro are excellent and plentiful. No matter what the rest of your order included, add the tots but be prepared to share if need be. The service is just what we seek: Friendly, fast, and attentive. What more does a diner need? All in all, Mackie’s knows what it is, executes that vision admirably, and is a welcome addition to the Fayetteville river scene that, hopefully, will remain for a long time to come.

I only recently found out about this place. The family brought some sliders home and my eyes lit up. I’ve had them all and they are all delicious. My favorite is the Korean BBQ. Their loaded totes are a thing of beauty as well. I knew totes were kind of big in DC but hadn’t realized they made it down here by the river. Highly recommend!

Brilliant! My first time at this new location, although the brains behind the place was the owner at a previous favorite. The sliders, tuna tartara, and pretzel were all amazing. tasty and unique. The beer was cold, the selection nice. My wife and I got there late in the Fall and wish the heaters were on(all the seating is outdoors), but I’ll brave the cold to get more of their yummy food!

This place has tasty food and beer at great prices. We were here late on a Sunday night and it was really quiet(we actually initially didn’t think they were open; the place was dark and so few people were there that it looked closed) but the service was quick and friendly. The fried chicken slider was delicious, sizable, and unique. Also tried the loaded brats; they were spicy and delicious so be prepared for a kick. Highly recommend!

Gotta have the tuna tartare! All the sliders are amazing and unique. Causal atmosphere and good beer menu dirt it’s size. If you’re in the area check this place out!

Tasty outdoor treats. We showed up late and they still served us. Sarah the bartender is a delight. No indoor seating, but there’s an awning with a TV. Love this place.

This place is a gem. Food is fresh and the beer is cold. What else is there? Food is unique(mostly sliders and ceviche) made with great healthy ingredients. Tater tots looked good but we didn’t try. Only open during the summer. Highly recommend!

This is what Fayetteville is about. Fantastic food for a great price. for 4 dollars, I had a fantastic fried chicken slider and the lady, for 5 dollars, had a korean bbq slider. We shared loaded tots. Beer was cold right out of a nice clean tap. Major hats off to this joint.
