I recently booked a stay at Hotel Allegro in Chicago and upon my arrival, learned that my pre-paid booking had not been processed. Unable to reach my friends, at that late hour, I was stranded with a rental car and a dying cell phone. In the middle of the night, I wandered searching for a place to stay. As a young woman in an unfamiliar city, this was very scary. Eventually I found Comfort Suites in Lansing, IL, where the front desk clerk lowered the rate for the evening and waived the credit card deposit so I could pay in cash and still be left with some money. There are stories every single day of young women being abducted and your employee, Lenny, saved me. I am traveling to New York on business and plan to book at an Ascend Hotel Collection location, instead of our preferred company boutique location. I will be whole-heartedly recommending your hotels in the future to my connections! If there is some sort of customer service award that you provide your employees, please do extend this to Lenny. He truly deserves it!

$ 118 for a double room with pull out couch = perfect for a traveling family of five. You can get a cheaper room else where, but the extra space and the free breakfast made this a good deal for us. Free breakfast = exactly what you’ve seen at every hotel like this. The towels were surprisingly nice, but our shower head was not easy to adjust. I often judge a hotel based on its massaging shower head. Docked a star just for that. There was definitely a weird smell in the halls. Not over powering, and maybe smoke but maybe not. Just weird. Our room was fine. Front desk staff very helpful.

Our family stayed here for 2 nights as part of a family event. Overall the stay was decent. My main reasons for not giving them 4 or 5 stars are as follows… 1) it is supposed to be Smoke Free. However many times walking through the halls and using the Elevator there was an awful Cigarette odor. I know why… because of other Hotel Patrons did not care about the Smoke Free Policy and either smoked in their rooms, or in the Hotel Bathrooms or directly outside the front entrance. It took the Management 2 days before they even attempted to fix this issue. I complained both nights we were there. 2) Noise level of adjoining rooms or rooms above. the walls in this place were thin. There was little or no soundproofing. I could hear what sounded like Elephants tromping around above and sometimes in the hallways. 3) Choices of food and vending options are limited. There was an Ice machine on each floor and 1 vending machine on each floor. only one Sodapop vending machine in entire hotel, and the prices were high — a 12oz can of sodapop was $ 1. the FREE* Continental Breakfast was sparse at best. However the rooms were not dirty. the Bed linens were clean and smelled fresh. the Entertainment offerings were respectable — a 32″ LCDHDTV in the rooms with 20 or more cable channels. There was a Mini Fridge/Freezer, Microwave, and Coffee machine in our room. The FREE* WiFi actually worked, although depending where I was in the room depended on how good the signal was. I was able to check Facebook from the hotel with my Tablet and I was able to surf some of my fav sites. I liked the Sofa in our King room — I was almost able to sprawl out and chill. But the Bed was very uncomfortable. It was too firm for my preference. The Hotel Staff was friendly and accommodating over all. When we needed extra pillows, sheets and blankets there was no problem getting them. I would give Comfort Suites Lansing, IL another try if I am ever in the area again. I did very much like the ease of getting on and off the freeway — the Hotel was close to major access roads and Freeways/Interstate.
