Abington-Lansdale Hospital

If you want to just sit in a room and wait and wait and wait then use Lansdale hospital ! The er dr was thorough and very clear although we had to wait I’m changing my opinion to great!
When you think about it the reason you go to the er is to take care of an issue and that they did!

I posted a review under Abington Memorial Hospital, Lansdale, PA. This has to be the same facility. I went here a couple of weeks ago to the ER with cardiac complaints. I was shocked when the young woman at the door stated the nurse was busy and would be out when she could. I literally laid my head down at the registration clerk’s desk for 20 min. I followed on my phone time.) My long time companion asked if he couldn’t sign what she needed and she agreed to this. The clerk seemed to be trying to get someone to take me back and someone finally came. A nurse attempted an IV over quite a long time, about 20 min. I stated she could not go below my wrist due to significant arthritis. She jabbed and jabbed above my wrist but she grasped my wrist and pulled seemingly as hard as she could on my hand, grasping it tightly. I will need a steroid injection to undo what she did and she was rather husky. She then became sarcastic and I called her on it. She looked at my companion and was attempting to get his complicity in laughing about my calling her sarcastic. He just stared at her. We both then heard her in the hall laughing to another staff about this. She was middle aged and had very short hair. The IV infiltrated and over two weeks later my arm is still bruised. Can you imagine having staff look at your monitor explaining you have a problem and you have to deal with this lack of professionalism? The next nurse simply said, «Let’s move on.» I was not belaboring it but I felt dismissed. She tried twice and gave up but she was respectful. A male nurse got it first jab and he was nice, as was a male technician. I worked in an ER for 15 years and where I worked, a staff person would have been severely reprimanded, or fired, for relating to a patient like this woman did. The nurse referred to above needs training in Patient Rights, Professional Demeanor and probably technique. I don’t recall seeing the doctor more than a couple of minutes over the four hours but I assume she was attending from afar. I will not ever return to this ER again.

Had to return for a small problem. 2 ER nurses told me that they were NOT trained on using the 2 ultrasonic machines to find blood vessels. My previous hospital stay flattened ALL easily available veins… they needed blood tests, and could barely get enough to test.
Expensive equipment may be available… but if no one knows how to use it, or they withhold using it — it’s worthless.
The whole Hospital staff NEEDS extensive training. I wish I lived closer to another hospital.

Radiology is terrible. I had a vascular study completed there in November and the report they sent to my Dr. was for the wrong body part — he called them to report the issue; totally inexcusable. They literally cut and paste text from one report to the next without verifying accuracy or even appropriateness.
Went back for a CTA in April. Registered, changed into the paper dress and waited for an hour. Then they tell me they can’t do the test because I needed bloodwork in advance. When I scheduled the test I told them my last labs were in December and that was acceptable on the phone. No notification of the issue whatsoever — nice waste of my time and an afternoon spent fasting.
This is a miserable facility that is just not up to par. I’ll be driving to Abington Main from now on even though it is 40 minutes away.
Also they claim to have a «diabetic list» so be aware of that fun tidbit.

I wanted to say we have been to the ER about 4 times over last year or so. Myself and my children. Every time I was more impressed with the speed in which they handle people. They take you right in and don’t waste time. I would highly recommend this ER. Staffing was very nice!
