Of the four stores that sell records within the two block radius that is Gallery Row, Mr. Suit is probably the best of the batch. They can answer a phone and basic questions without descending into some kind of strange rambling and they’re not insulting(to call out two other stores in the immediate vicinity). The prices for they sell are reasonable. They don’t pay much when buying but no one does and at least they’ll take the trouble to look through things people bring in. I wish they bothered to make some header cards for artists. I’m not the guy who think it’s spiffy to spend an hour flipping through rows of LPs I just don’t care about. Did I mention this is probably your best for used vinyl on Prince Street? Yes, Angry, Young & Poor also do a fine job of selling vinyl but Mr. Suit’s selection is much broader(intentionally). Well worth a visit.

Been to Mr. Suit several times and always walk out with some good stuff! THEPROS –cool owner who is tuned into his customers –decent selection of many genres –if you wanna hear something you can –clean shop –lots of budget bins to dig through –always gets good titles on RSD –helpful and pretty accurate gold mine standard record grading of covers and media –gets some real gems in from to time –reasonable prices THECONS –relatively small selection –no listening station to sample stuff at your own convenience –parking can be a pain sometimes Overall Mr. Suit gives great customer service, a rarity in many record shops big and small… although I’ve been to some of the best shops around that offer much more quantity, I like digging here because I usually find something I wasn’t looking for, I won’t break the bank and it helps achieve a quick fix for my vinyl addiction!

This guy has great prices on used vinyl. You want to find some older vinyl from the 60s-80s in good shape? Go here. Most of these records are priced anywhere from $ 2-$ 10, but they’re always in good condition and comes with the plastic sleeves. He also has cheaper prices than ordering online for the plastic sleeves themselves. You can get 100 bags for about $ 15 and he’ll give you new paper sleeves for the discs themselves for free. My only real gripe with Mr. Suit is that his new vinyl sales are not very competitively priced. Expect to drop anywhere from $ 20 to $ 40 on a new release, especially $ 40 if it’s a 180 gram or big name release. He also has a small section for used punk/skramz/hardcore/whatever from the 90s to about present. It’s hit or miss, but I’ve found a few small scores here and there. I haven’t interacted with the owner on holding records for me or pre-orders, but from his facebook it appears he’s very active with his customers and works with them on this. All in all, cool little shop and he’s one of the few record shops that’s willing to sell you a decent used copy at a fair price instead of just throwing overpriced goodwill garbage on the shelves to pad his inventory.

Everything is $ 2.99. Unless its $ 79.99. Nothing in the middle. Priced for eBay not for a record store.

Mr. Suit Records is a relatively small shop in downtown Lancaster. As others have mention, it’s vinyl-only. They have a small section of new records at pretty reasonable prices, though the majority of the store is used records. Prices are clearly marked, and something I really liked was that they had the grade for both the record and the cover right on the price sticker. What I didn’t like so much is that they’re not split into genres, which means you have to do a bit more hunting to try to find what you’re looking for. Granted, that kind of browsing is half the fun of record shops, but it slows you down. I did pick up a few things, but they didn’t have a lot of albums or artists I was hoping to find. I’m thrilled to find a record store in the area at all, though, which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 3. I’ll stop back next time I’m in downtown Lancaster, but I don’t think I’d make a special trip from Harrisburg to shop here.

Just visiting Lancaster, so I did what I always do in a city I’m visiting — searched for vinyl! After reading the rest of the reviews here, I had to try Mr. Suit. It’s a small, clean store downtown just about half a block off Prince street. There’s a lot of bins of vinyl, and nothing but vinyl — no CDs, no DVDs, none of that mess. Just Lps, and plenty of ‘em. My tastes are pretty eclectic, and I found about half-a-dozen pieces I liked — vintage Kool & The Gang, Cold Blood, Bruce Cockburn, Flatts & Scruggs. There is a liberal salting of weird stuff — all stores have ‘em — but what struck me was that all of the records are graded on the price sticker, and the prices are LOW — my finds cost me under $ 30, all told. And besides the discs in the bins & bags, there are plenty more in boxes that are unalphabetized and free for the skimming-through. If I’d had more time, I’d probably have come away with lots more. The owner is quiet, but he knows his stuff — he overheard me talking about a particular piece to my companions and chimed in when I got to the register about how hard a particular Lp is to find. I’ll definitely return when I’m back in town next time.

Quite possibly my new favorite record store! I reiterate record store because this is a VINYLONLY record store; great for myself who is an avid collector of 33s. The guy behind the counter(Mr. Suit, perhaps) was so nice and only charged me $ 1 for 4 vinyls! Where I come from that is unheard of! I mean come on, Grandmaster Flash for a quarter! You can’t beat that! There are new arrivals, along with alphabetized bands, and my favorite section: the $.50 and cheaper vinyls. Next time I am in Lancaster, I will return.

Great little record spot. Quality not quantity describes this place best. The prices are fair and staff was really nice. I will be back!

Why is there no category for music stores? This is a VINYLONLY record shop. Don’t bring your used CDs here to sell them, he won’t take them. The good folk at Mr Suit have one of the best selections of indie, punk, hardcore, metal, etc as well as all other more mainstream genres of music in Lancaster. Well lit, not a dusty old place — just stacks and stacks of records. If you can’t find something that you love here, then you are obviously worthless. I think that should be their slogan. Shop here. Now.
