So I decided that I needed new socks, stopped by K-Mart and proceeded to the mens section, when I got there it looked like a teenagers unkempt bedroom nothing was organized, I went into the electronic department its a joke it looks like a pawn shop, either your going to sell electronics or your not

This K-Mart is a testament to why 70’s style department retail is mostly dead. And this store is like traveling back in time. Dimly lit(and not romantically so) by flickering fluorescent, dirty ceiling tiles, funky merchandising(which is polite) and overall, shoddy stuff. It’s a complete wonder to me how this K-Mart(or any other I suppose) stays in business and it amazes anyone would come here without being threatened(I was threatened). There’s nothing short of a devastating fire and complete collapse that would help this store. Seriously, avoid it.

I seldom bother to rate the big box stores we all know because there’s one in every town. But this visit was a major customer service FAILURE. I saw one cash register open with a long line and they were paging a manager for a «total order over-ride.» This page was announced when I entered the store, and ten minutes later after locating a big high dollar item at the back of the store(sporting goods) I went to Customer Service, and when the party in front of me was finished I asked if I could check out at this counter and the counter person said, no you have to go to a cash register. I said there’s a line, and she said she couldn’t help me. They were STILL paging a manger for the ONLY open lane… frozen…nothing happening. I wasn’t going to wait for the total order override only to have them ring it up again correctly(or minus one or two items if the customer didn’t have the cash). I said to them on the way out, so much for customer service at the customer service desk. you lost a sale. I won’t be back. There are too many other retailers that want the business. I worked part time at a Big Box Home Improvement store until recently as a cashier, and the manager’s customer service standard was to do whatever it takes to make a sale. I would have been FIRED for letting a customer walk out the door under circumstances such as these. Clearly, KMart, at this location anyway, doesn’t understand good customer service.

This kmart is kind of dumpy, and like all kmarts, nearly killed off by walmart and seem to have given up. The shelves always seem to be missing the items youre looking for, and Martha Stewart dominates everything. On the plus side, they have good sales on clothing, so kudos there.
