Didn’t eat at Huckleberry’s, but had some drinks at the bar and it was such a pleasant experience. Gary is very knowledgable about various beer and whiskey selections. Nicole has great suggestions as far as local attractions and restaurants go. We would love to go back and stay at the Fulton Inn!

We arrived on Tuesday January 19, 2016 at 6:15 pm after getting stuck behind an accident. Upon arrival, we saw that the restaurant was closed. We followed the sign directing us to the bar where we saw 13 patrons, a bartender, and a waitress. We inquired as to why the restaurant was closed, as I had made the reservation that afternoon. We were informed that the restaurant was closed for January and most of February. They were surprised no one informed us of this when I called. No one sat us; we selected the only remaining table without guests. It had not been cleared of trash. The bartender was eager to give us drinks, but slow in delivering them. Very slow. And that was a common theme. The table was finally cleared and cleaned with a disinfectant rag(smelly). Bread was deposited and then the waitress saw we had no utensils. We were not provided with menus or water, nor were our fancy drinks served with straws. I went to the bar myself to get them. After about 15 minutes, I asked for water and menus. The menus arrived.(We didn’t get the water until I asked a 2nd time during our meal.) We selected our pub food: one shared appetizer(spicy shrimp), a crabcake dinner, and a pork chop dinner. By dinner, I mean a plate with, for example, a pork chop, broccoli, and French fries. And then we waited, and waited. We waited at least 30 minutes. Another woman came in to assist with taking orders because they said they were getting very busy(15 people). The waitress informed us that staff had been fired and the restaurant closed. Then they got calls that food would only be served in the pub for Jan and Feb. Our single appetizer arrived at about 7pm. Our dinners arrived at 7:15. And we had a show to attend at 8pm. We departed at 7:35pm after quickly downing our food. The food was Ok. Pork chop was juicy but plain. Broccoli was plain. French fries were not crispy. My friend said the crabcake was good. And, the shrimp appetizer was very tasty. Our drinks were fine. I imagine the restaurant fare would have been tastier. But, I doubt they can successfully handle more than 10 patrons at a time. Olive Garden is across the street. Red Robin is just down the road on Rte 30. There is a nearby Diner also on Rte 30. And there is a Cracker Barrel on Rte 30 too. All would have been fairly equivalent to what we ate. I would not return here unless it was to give the restaurant a fair shake. But I’d know it was going to be a long night.

Terrible service and food. Overpriced, cold or burnt food. I’m a server and I’m always putting up with more than most people but this was the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. Reading the other reviews on. Here make me wonder how many good reviews were written by the employees and managers. And why on earth is the a/c on full blast on one of the coldest days this winter. Go anywhere else, you would be better off at burger king or chick filet. your welcome

We went here with a group and reserved 2 tables ahead. The only reason we chose this venue is the proximity to AMT before a show and the fact that they accepted reservations. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. The food was fair. Uninspired, conservative American fare, and quite pricey for the area. The real disappointment was the service. I don’t know how to say this kindly but our waiter was hurried, rude, and not helpful. The menu offered a choice of sides, he never asked and brought us all mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables with our meals. Took 30 min(yes you read correctly) to refill our water. And lastly, the ambiance. It was a Friday night and they had a live pianist. But instead of nice background music, he tried to be a performer. We didn’t find his style attractive(gravely voice and lots of sound track back up and very little actual piano playing) and with all the talking in the room and Our table in the back, it simply became loud and irritating. I would never return. Lancaster has many wonderful restaurants. This is NOT one of them.

Fun environment! I loved the piano man! He played songs that were modern to classical, and everything in between. He knew how to entertain the crowd and some couples even got up to dance! The service was good and food was okay, but not spectacular. I got the chicken Caesar salad, and they put too much dressing on for my taste. If you do get a salad, ask for dressing on the side. But everyone else at my table really enjoyed their food :) I overall do recommend coming here!

The family stayed at the Fulton(which was GREAT by the way) and decided to try this restaurant out as the front desk recommended it. We also got a discount since we were guests. Food was great. The soup and salad that came with our entrees were pretty bland however. The main courses definitely shined though! I had the crabcake dinner with potatoes and a bean medly. Delicious. My wife had a pasta dish which she raved about. Im not much of a drinker but she did say her martini was good also. Service was fast and attentive. Overall very impressed and absolutely reccomend!

The attraction at Huckleberry’s seems to be having country-style breakfast served in a fancy, Victorian-style dining room that looks like it could have been on the Titanic, or perhaps a more modern(and slightly toned down) version of Downtown Abbey. I had an orange juice and the Steamboat Combo — a mix of eggs, sausage, pancakes, hash brown, and toast. Overall it was not bad — pretty much what I expected. The style here seems to be: take some decent ingredients and cook them in a slightly«rough-around-the-edges» kind of way to give it some rustic country charm. The sausage used decent quality meat and was slightly charred on the outside, and the orange juice tasted fresh with lots of pulp. You can also get these typical country breakfast items served family-style on a 3-tier rack, with plates of food elegantly stacked on top of each other — it looks pretty darn cool, and if we had been hungrier we would have tried it! Out of the items we tried, our favorite was the Cinnamon-Swirled French Toast(pictured). The thick slices of toast have satisfying amounts of cinnamon, and are soft and chewy on the inside, slightly crispy on the outside. The fruit cup though was slightly disappointing — some of the fruit was obviously canned. The food here is decent overall. When combined with the charming ambiance and friendly service, however, the overall experience is very enjoyable!

Was looking for something other than a smörgåsbord in the Ronks area and decided to try Huckleberry’s. Was in town for the Blue Man group concert. At 5:30 pm on a Saturday the place was busy. Surprisingly, there were no available seats in the restaurant without having a reservation. However my daughter and I were graciously directed to the lounge and seated immediately at a table. We both ordered the French Onion soup after seeing a few reviews mentioning how good it was. They were right! Plenty of perfectly melted cheese, large tasty pieces of onion and crusty dark bread instead of just croutons. They next table ordered the same after seeing our soup. After a decent garden salad our entrees arrived. I had the Chicken Marsala which was very good. The Marsala sauce was very tasty and the chicken breast cooked perfectly. My daughter had the pot roast. It was amazing!(We traded bites lol) It was so tender and tasty. We both ended up liking the others entrees the best, so next time I’ll be having the pot roast! Don’t hesitate to try this place as it is so much better than the mediocre smörgåsbord food nearby. Just remember to get a reservation as the lounge can be a bit noisy.(It did quiet down after happy hour ended though)

This place was pretty good when you have good local ingredients it does not take much to make it perfect. I had the fire shrimp for appetizers and it was pretty good, mild on the heat but flavorful. I had the stuffed flounder as well and that was pretty decent and the vegetable sides were just great. Overall I was very pleased with the experience and I recommend to come here if you want good food from the area.

Stopped in for breakfast and as soon as we walked in the door I though we were in for an expensive breakfast! The place is so nice inside. We both had the build your own omelet. Comes with choice of toast & hash browns. I had cheddar and ham, my husband told the waitress he wanted everything on the list and add sausage and they charged NOEXTRA! Waitress was very nice as well.

So the Hotel was great, see separate review. Huckleberry Tavern, not so much. We went for dinner on a Sunday night, party of 4. The Tavern was full but I really liked the ambiance so waited about 10 min for a table instead of going to the full restaurant which was pretty empty. Problem was the bartender was the only one waiting tables(there are 7 – 8 in the tavern and tending bar and bringing most food out. The waiters and waitresses at the restaurant presumably had nothing to do but did not come over to help. Maybe they are not allowed to. We ordered after about 15 min delay, ordered appys and dinner. All the food came out at once — the point of an appetizer is it comes out first. Alas, no. When we were done and the place emptied out, every table needed to be cleared of plates. Finally a front desk manager came out to help. The Bartender did the best he could, no major complaints, but he needed help and did not get it. Food was good, no complaints there.

Stopped in for dinner on a Sunday night and had a delightful experience. The service was good and friendly. The tomato bisque was excellent. Would go again.

Unfortunately, I have to give the restaurant 1 star after our most recent visit. This is actually my first 1 star rating since I began using Unilocal. This is the 3rd year in a row that I’ve stayed at the Fulton Steamboat with my family and the Huckleberry Restaurant has been good in the past. However, it was just terrible this time. We ate here for both dinner and breakfast and had a terrible experience for both meals. Hence the 1 star. I ordered the filet mignon and crab cake combo for dinner. The filet came out very overcooked. I ordered it medium, but it came very well done. They cooked me another one, but when I bit into it it tasted horrible and actually tasted like the meat was foul. I asked someone else at my table to taste it to make sure it wasn’t just me and they said it tasted like the meat was bad. Everyone else enjoyed their dished, so I don’t know what happened with my steak. They took it off the bill and apologized. The next morning we ate here for breakfast. It was even worse this time because all 6 of us had a problem with the food. The eggs were still raw in someone’s omelette. Some of our eggs were a little cold. The pancakes were awful. They were really thin and were hard to cut. They were like shoe leather. And the potatoes were not cooked enough. They were raw. We spoke to the manager at this point to tell him about our experience and he apologized. He said that they had changed breakfast chefs recently and that the head chef was not present during our previous night’s dinner. He took some money off our bill and offered to do something for us if we came back for dinner that night, but we already had other reservations. We have a yearly tradition of staying at the Fulton Steamboat each winter, but we are very hesitant to eat here again. We’ll give them another chance, but only after seeing if the food has gone back to their good standards.

We stayed at the Fulton Steamboat and dined here at least 3 or 4 times during our trip. The food was never mind blowing(Le Bernadin it is not) but the service was always top notch and REALLY catered to kids, which we could appreciate since we were there with two of them. As soon as you sit down, the little ones get crayons and some paper to draw on as well as lots of ooohs and ahhhs from the wait staff. The kids menu is extensive and you will sure find something to please everyone. As for the adult food, I enjoyed their meatloaf but wasn’t really a fan of their seafood(crabcake or fish). They are also VERY generous with their wine pours.

Was looking for a kitschy experience, you know, eat dinner on a landlocked steamboat but ended up with a great affordable meal. Walked in without reservation, and wife and I were seated almost immediately. Started with house tomato bisque. Awesome! I had the Chicken Pot Pie, which was great. Wife had Mushroom Ravioli. Terrific! Will make this a mainstay for any future trip to Lancaster area.

Since we were staying at the Steamboat Inn on a short vacation, we opted to eat a few meals from Huckleberry’s. We only ate one lunch at the restaurant and decided to carry out our other meals, as my 2 ½ year old son was overly exhausted from busy days at the Strausburg Railroad and Dutch Wonderland. For lunch we stayed at the restaurant, being pleasantly suprised when they supplied my son with crayons and paper. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and my husband ordered a burger. The food was good and satisfying, but not memorable. Over the course of our stay we realized that was the case with all our meals from Huckleberry’s. The prices were reasonable, the food was well-cooked, filling, and some of the best of our vacation. Unfortunately that was not due to extraordinary food at Huckleberry’s, but because most food places were buffet in nature or had terrible food. I would recommend eating here if you’re in Lancaster for a good satisfying meal. It may not be the best of your life, but it very well may be the best of your vacation. And whatever you do, don’t skip dessert… the whoopie pie sampler is actually quite divine. Other than the whoopee pie, don’t expect any of the dishes to blow your mind. But they will leave you full and happy.
