This is the only pool I know of with a high dive! We go here at least once each summer just to get gutsy on the high dive. We’ve always met the nicest kids while we are there. The staff are reasonable and remind kids nicely of the rules to keep them safe. I don’t remember the price, but I remember it being very affordable. The place is clean and fun. Couldn’t ask for better. :)

Have you ever heard someone say ‘it’s the people that make this place’? Well, this is the perfect way to describe the Eastside Pool. From the outside, the Eastside Pool looks just like an average building located on the Southern end of Deputy Pierre W. Bain Park. But despite the lack of curb appeal, the employees that work here really make this place a 5-star business. My family and I have come to this pool several times over the last several years, and I have always been incredibly impressed with the kids that run this place. Here’s a quick summary of my rating: — Instructor professionalism: 5 stars — Instructor friendliness: 5 stars — Instructor enthusiasm: 5 stars — Instructor patience: 5 stars — Instructor safety: 5 stars — Instructor training: 5 stars — Pool cleanliness: 5 stars — Facility infrastructure: 4 stars — Overall value: 5 stars In short, the instructors are awesome. Their level of professionalism, friendliness and enthusiasm with children and adults is incredible. I have also witnessed their ability to teach some children with special needs, which clearly shows their skills in patience, where they also shine. I really appreciate that the instructors demonstrate a high level of safety every time I come, from the way they carefully watch everyone in the pool to the way they carefully ensure that all kids climbing the ladder to the high dive are well protected. They always have the appropriate level of instructors for each class, which also depends on the age and ability of their students. In addition to the appropriate level of instructors, there is always at least one lifeguard that has overall visibility of the entire pool and they can personally take action or direct safety actions as necessary. The level of training of these instructors is also excellent, since it is important for all students to not only be safe but to also understand the proper techniques while swimming. Unlike some other swimming pools we have had instruction from in Antelope Valley, all the instructors here are American Red Cross certified swim instructors. Believe me, there is a huge difference in the techniques that are taught, where instructors at other pools in the Antelope Valley pay minimal attention to the proper swimming techniques that should be learned. The instructors teach classes from level 1 through level 6, as outlined by the American Red Cross. They offer lessons for all ages, from tots to adults, and from group classes to individual instruction. They also offer classes to become a professional lifeguard, as well as a training program to become part of the Jr. lifeguard program. Maintaining a high level of cleanliness is also a top priority for the staff here, which is extremely important to me as well. Before we started coming to the Eastside Pool we were going to another public pool in Lancaster that did a poor job of maintaining pool cleanliness. In fact, we abruptly stopped going to our last pool because my children all simultaneously developed an entire-body skin rash and got sick from swimming there. Coming to the Eastside Pool was a refreshing change, where the pool cleanliness is always maintained and I periodically see the staff chemically testing the water for safety. The restrooms are also frequently cleaned. In fact, I see the employees cleaning the restrooms every time I come to this pool. The Eastside Pool is a large, 10-lane indoor heated pool, with the building having plenty of indoor air heaters to keep everyone warm during cold weather. The facility has the capability of opening eight large doors on the sides of the building to keep the inside nice and cool with a pleasant natural cross-flow ventilation during the Summertime. The pool also has seven diving platforms, as well as three diving boards. The depth of the swimming pool ranges from 3.5 feet to 13 feet. Several bleachers and individual chairs are available around the perimeter of the pool for family members and friends watching the swimmers. There is very little that can be improved at the Eastside Pool, but if I was to make any suggestions one would be to make improvements to the existing infrastructure. Specifically, the restrooms need to be renovated, and the building could also use a fresh coat of paint inside and outside. An easier suggestion to implement would be to increase the lighting inside and outside, which is just a matter of turning on more of the lighting that exists. In summary, I am extremely pleased with the Eastside Pool, primarily due to the exemplary performance and dedication of the staff. If you are interested in attending some type of swim courses in the Antelope Valley, for you and/or for someone in your family, I highly suggest you consider enrolling at the Eastside Pool.
