Terrible food. Do yourself a favor and keep on driving. The food is poor quality buffet food that has been sitting far to long and not kept hot enough. We love Chinese food but this was not worth eating. I saw the 4 ½ star rating but didn’t look close enough. The reviews are from 2010 — 2013.

5 Stars! For Lamar Missouri. Good Americanized Chinese food. Very Missouri. :)
I attended the lunch buffet on a Saturday during the noon hour. Food was hot. Tasted good. I’ve been to a lot of Chinese buffets and this one for sure was better than most and to find a good one in such a small town makes it a GEM for the locals. Salad bar side, not so good. Very limited. Skip the salad.
Daughter liked the bamboo chicken. Sesame chicken tasted more like sweet and sour chicken. Egg drop soup bland not spicy.
Service Good.
Priced good for the area. The hot tea was Lipton black tea, fyi.

I can’t enter the city limits of Lamar, MO without insisting on a visit to Bamboo House for take-​out. I’ve even converted my doubting husband to the glories of southwest Missouri’s famous Springfield style cashew chicken (and here, it’s just cashew — done right).
The crab rangoon have gotten a bit less plentiful than in the past — lots of wonton, very little filling :(But I shan’t be avoiding its doors for such reasons. The cashew and sweet & sour will keep me coming back for more!

I recently stumbled upon the Bamboo House because the Blue Top out on the highway was closed. WOW, great, fresh Chinese dinner buffet at a great price! There was an amazing variety and everything I ate was terrific.

Definitely my go-​to Chinese restaurant. Super crispy double breaded chicken, amazing crab rangoon, and fantastic Bamboo chicken.
