I have always hated on this store as we’ve driven by – I thought it was all expensive, specialty dolls and such, but there’s a much larger science and nature and craft emphasis on the place. It’s obvious once you walk inside that somebody really knows how to shop for thoughtful kids and adults alike. I wish I had a kid in my life to spoil, because I would probably go hog wild up in here. Still, we ended up buying a few kits for ourselves, and a couple gifts for friends. This is a great toy shop.

Love, love, love this store!
I was in the Lakewood area and decided to pop into Timbuk Toys after driving by it a few times before. Didn’t know what to expect but was WOWed by the store after entering. They offer so many different types of toys that it’s hard to figure out what to buy. They have toys that I’ haven’t seen at other stores. I love that they offer a variety of art activities, physics experiments and etc.
The staff is friendly and the store is very clean. Easy to navigate and LOTS to look at. They even offer free gift wrapping which is a plus. I highly recommend coming here for your kids next summer project or a birthday gift for your child.

Lakewood/​Belmar finally gets a much needed toy store after Toys R’ Us closed up shop nearly a decade ago in the old Villa Italia shopping area. It will be interesting to see if this place lasts.
It’s kind of like one of those niche little toy stores like Puzzle Zoo that sell mostly educational toys, puzzles, Legos and stuff. Mostly knick-​knack novelties. It’s a clean new store near the Lakewood Civic Center with friendly and enthusiastic employees. Good place to bring the little rugrats.
But If you are looking for the more popular name-​brand retail toys, action figures and collectibles you will find at places like Toys R’ Us, Walmart and Target you won’t find them here. Good place to shop for children’s gifts but not so much for the Adult Toys R’ Us Kids.

Timbuk Toys is a small, local-​esque toy store, with a limited selection, but a focus on educational toys. You won’t find endless aisles and Geoffrey the Giraffe, but we did find smiling employees and a good store to pick up a unique, creativity-​based or educational toy for the 12-​and under set.
