DONOTGOHERE!!! If you think Taco Bell is authentic Mexican food… Then you might enjoy this place, but it’s not even half the flavor of Taco Bell. This is by far the worst taco/burrito I’ve ever had. Paid $ 6.67 for two small hard shell«chicken» tacos and a child sized bean and cheese burrito. Only stopped here because it says $.93 take out burritos… Clearly it’s closer to $ 3 per infant sized item. Absolutely disgusting taste, salsa was questionable, and the menu is over priced and extremely limited. Honestly how can you claim to be a taco house and only have chicken and beef as your options, neither of which are authentic. Highly disappointed! Save your time and money and go up the street to Viva Burrito on colfax!!!

I have been eating taco house for 40 years. I suppose I like it, because I grew up with it. My wife isn’t a huge fan of the place. I’d recommend the chili con quesos, and smothered bean burritos(get the green sauce). I think the price is really cheap. The servers are always so nice and the food is served quickly.

Sorry ass excuse for food for human consumption I have ever experienced. I’m ashamed and embarrassed I ate it. Do yourself a favor and go to Taco Bell. I can’t even describe how much better a fast food restaurant is than this dump

I guess I’ll give them one star for the kindness of the server but the food here is literally garbage. The only way to describe the enchilada filling is «wet cat food». Please don’t confuse this for Mexican food because it is absolutely NOT!

Server is only reason for extra star. Sorry, but this chow is sub purina. How could the special du jour be a bad choice? Unless you only have loose change from the streets, head elsewhere. I need a shower or some kind of detox now;(

This place is great. Great service, mediocre food, not to mention cheap. Took a star away because the food is bland — taco filling okay, plates too hot, and the pink lemonade didn’t have enough sugar. But still, go to this place!

Disgusting. Ordered a smothered burrito with green chile. Got red chile. Tasted like something out of an expired can. Never again!

The food is very cheap but you get what you pay for. Had the beef tacos and beef enchiladas and the beef was really mushy and gross. I won’t be back here and I can’t see how anyone gave this place 3 stars.

I am so surprised by all the positive reviews on here! Went here once, and it was absolutely awful. What I paid $ 12 for, I could’ve gotten a better quantity and quality at Taco Bell. Like others have said, this food is as gringo as it gets. There is zero flavor and everything is store bought and just assembled. All in all, save your money and go to the Taco Bell dive-thru instead.(A move I don’t often recommend, but it’s a better alternative than going here!)

Service was friendly. But this was by far the worst dining experience I’ve had in years, based mostly on the food. We came in hoping for a hole in the wall hidden gem and we couldn’t have been more disappointed. Food is SO bland and SO gringo. I got a chicken burrito with red sauce on the side. Had next to no flavor – I honestly couldn’t say what might even be in the red sauce it so profoundly tasted of nothing. Husband got beef tacos and a cheese enchilada that never showed up. Tacos were prefab Smart and Final style yellow corn shells with straight from a bag grated cheese. And the whole service took forever considering they’re not actually cooking anything, only reheating and assembling. Walking out the door I told my husband that as long as I didn’t get food poisoning I’d feel like I walked away lucky. To our horror, when we checked Unilocal at home we realized that happens to be one of their specialties. Great. Took some preemptive pepto and crossing our fingers. Don’t risk it. No part of this place is worth it.

This was some of the worst Mexican food I have every had. Honestly I don’t even know if it should be called Mexican or even food. We each had a few bites and left. Something in the tacos, tostadas and salsa had a sweet cinnamon flavor to it. The ground beef did not even look like meat. Save your money and go down the street to Maria Elena if you want real Mexican food, it will not disappoint!

Don’t believe anyone who rates this above 3 stars. You will never find more bland, gringo-versions of Mexican food. I love dives, but there is absolutely nothing redeeming about this place other than cheap prices. I’m fine with unfancy, but when it comes to food, this is CSPAN. If you want more exciting fare, hit up Taco Bell or Casa Bonita. But if you’re an 82 year old grandma from Iowa, then this might be your spot.

Do not expect a hole in the wall Mexican place that serves really good authentic Mexican food. Do not expect a fine dining establishment. How to describe Taco House? It’s cheap. The food is good, but not that good. They must put crack in their enchilada sauce because… seriously…I have dreams about it. I even bought a pint of it once and took it home to cook with. But other than the sauce everything they make you can make at home for about the same price. And Taco House *might* make you sick… so…bonus! But regardless, I still love it enough to give it 5 stars. I will continue to visit. :)

Waited forever. Foods was awful. Made us both violently sick with food poisoning. Will never go again. No Idea how this place is still in business. Would have given 0 stars if possible.

A buddy of mine recommended i give this place a try several months ago… well today I was in between meetings, cruising down Wadsworth and decided to give it a try. For starters, this is exactly the type of «dive» that I seek out on a regular basis! In my experience they always have the best eats… The taco house doesn’t disappoint! I ordered 4 crunchy tacos, as my buddy had instructed, and paid a mere $ 3 and some change! The tacos were stuffed with meat, lettuce, and cheese… the shells were very light and crunchy, yet they didn’t fall apart, and each one had more meat than 2 Taco Bell tacos! They were exactly what I was craving… I assure you taco house will be added to my regular rotation of lunch spots! Now, like the previous reviewer mentioned, it’s not in the greatest neighborhood… nor is it the fanciest décor, but the food is damn good, and super affordable! So if you’re not a princess, give this place a try… chances are, you’ll love it!

Rating: 4.25÷5.0 I have to look at some of the more negative reviews and chuckle. Look, Taco House is not a fine-dining establishment. It is not located in a wonderful part of town. It is not pretty on the outside or the inside. It’s a local, Americanized Mexican restaurant that serves a relatively basic menu of food items. First of all, if you are going to the Taco house, you had better order TACOS. I have grown more and more fond of soft tacos as have gotten older, and there are plenty of places to find delicious authentic tacos in the area. That being said, the first thing you need to do is order 3 beef crunchy tacos. My 3-pack was brought out prior to my other items. The shells were light and crispy and cooked to perfection. The beef mixture was delicious, lightly spiced and not greasy. Each taco was also topped with shredded lettuce and a mountain of freshly grated cheese. I put a bit of the unique salsa delivered with the tortilla chips on each taco as well — good stuff. They were each one as tasty as the last — instantly loved them($ 3.10 for 3 tacos). Next I had to order the Burrada($ 3.90), a bean burrito smothered with enchilada sauce and cheese. Having never seen a similar creation, I was impressed with the size and amount of sauce atop. As good as the tacos were, this thing was incredible. The beans inside were well cooked and spiced, the tortilla was fresh, and the enchilada sauce was the best thing I had tasted all day. I originally planned to take some of this item home, but was so happy with the Burrada that I finished it off AND sopped up my stray tortilla chips in this magical sauce! Since I was already shoveling food away at a furious pace, I ordered a Chicken Burrito smothered with green chili and cheese with sour cream and lettuce added($ 4.90 plus $ 1.19 for lettuce and sour cream). I was brought out a plate sized burrito absolutely covered in all the good stuff. The chicken inside was tender and well cooked, mostly dark meat but large pieces and really tasty. Burrito fillings were similar to the Burrada, with lots of refried beans. I made it about half way through before I had to throw in the towel and request a box to take it home. Service was friendly and prompt. My food was brought out to me quickly, the server asked questions and ensured I was happy with my food, refilled my soda, and she took excellent care of me. My only complaint arises regarding the bill. I went into the Taco House on a Tuesday, which is when they offer an all-you-can-eat option for $ 9.25(drink not included). This is a great feature, and I could see how it would work out well for big eaters like myself. Unfortunately, since I did not specify I wanted the All-You-Can-Eat at the time I ordered, all of my food was rung up ala carte instead. As a result my $ 11.50 lunch cost me $ 15.00. Not the end of the world, but it is a little disappointing. I will remember this next time. All in all, I really like the Taco House. The food was unpretentious and hearty, the portions were ample, and the service was excellent. I am definitely getting another Burrada and a plate of Cheese Enchiladas on my return trip!

As I mentioned before we have a «ladies lunch hour» once or twice a month since there are only 4 women in the office and we have to stick together. Our most recent trip was to the Taco House. Since we work around the corner and it’s always busy and they’ve been around forever(55 years!) we thought, «how bad can it be?» Well, it’s pretty bad. Someone else mentioned it’s as bad as Casa Bonita and I’m inclined to agree. Except with Casa Bonita you get Black Bart’s Cave and diving gorillas! Taco House is Americanized Mexican food at it’s worst. Look, I don’t have a problem with Mexican food that isn’t authentic as long as it has flavor. In fact, once in a while, I crave Americanized Mexican food. Unfortunately Taco House is the opposite of flavorful. Onto the food. I ordered the #2: two Cheese Enchiladas, refried beans and rice. I found the dish bland, the enchiladas overly sauced and mushy, and frankly, inedible. I felt bad though as the service was friendly and asked to have it boxed up. I then threw it out and zapped a frozen dinner upon returning to the office. I debated on giving Taco House 1 or 2 stars. It is certainly not a 3 or above. I ended up giving it 2 and here’s why: the servers are friendly, the establishment is clean and the highest priced dinner plate is 6.99. And if you go on «taco tuesday» they have an AYCE for $ 8.95. So yes, if one is into price only, this is a good deal. But it’s only a good deal if you actually eat the food, and I couldn’t, so even though I pass by Taco House every day, I won’t be returning.

This is a hole in the wall. But every Tuesday they do All you Can Eat. And on the 20th they Do All you can eat as well. I ordered the 3 taco special. Im not normally a fan of crunchy tacos but these bad boys were delicious. They have various daily specials. And The Server always checks on you. You dont go for the Ambience but you Stay for the food. Its Simple Mexican food at its best. The Chips and Salsa are free and worth it.
