Awww, what the hell. This spot holds a 5-star place in my heart. They have all the boozey beverages you need, plus no cruddy attitude to go with it. The other day I was looking for this super-cheap, tried and true red wine I knew they had in stock, but I couldn’t track it down. Almost immediately one of their staff helped me find my cheap-o wine, no judgment either. Lastly, I mentioned I liked a certain champagne the other day in passing and these guys offered to order it and carry it for me. Ummm, you’re awesome, NC Wine & Beer!

Great beer selection but poor wine selection and the way they have stacked glass bottles floor to ceiling it feels a bit perilous just walking around the shop to try to find what you’re looking for and to have to ask the owners anyway

Goddammit, Peter, you beat me to the Hoarders comment. I have no idea how long this store has been under this name, as I rarely stop anywhere on 117th except Arby’s or Rally’s or Walgreen’s or KFC or that one strip club which shall remain nameless. I usually just default to Simone’s or that friendly something mart on Detroit for fancy beer. But the same Friday as my Five Below visit, I also took my dog thru the KFC drive thru for NBA playoff grub(that was back before they fixed basketball so you know who could cheat his way into a championship). The selection was mind boggling. The navigation of the store was, well, mind boggling. I was constantly moving out of the way of newbs buying Corona or Four Loco or whatever it is Twilight fans drink. I bought some pretty common stuff. Some Czech grapefruit beer and Wells Bombardier. But here’s the rub. The owner saw me picking out the Wells and offered me a buy one get one half price on the spot. He said he needed room for new product. Um, okay. It wasn’t old mind you. He just needed to not die under an avalanche of beer that weekend. I like a businessman who is this proactive and customer oriented. I would say I’d be going back soon if it wasn’t for my penchant to stay on the west side of Lakewood. But I can see myself dropping in during the fall for some Browns provisions. If you are within walking distance, this is a great beer store. Nice folks. Oh, and the rapid is down the street if you need to relieve yourself.

This is a great beer store. They have all of the new releases that you would hope to find available in Cleveland. They get some of the rare Founders, Three Floyds and others that most stores do not carry. They will break up 6’ers and sell by the single bottle. I am lucky to live close to North Coast. It is way to easy to spend a bunch of money on good drinks. One of the best beer stores in Cleveland easily.

Half stars would be wonderful here. North Coast has a great selection of beer, and the owner is top notch, well informed and the staff is funny, easy to talk to and really down to earth. That said, I’d love to be able to walk down the aisles without hoping someone else isn’t walking down them, too. The store is so cluttered with overstock, and the aisles are so close together, it’s no wonder someone hasn’t featured the store on Hoarders or something. As a bigger gent, I can’t get past anyone down any of the aisles, even children. Still, if I’m east, and don’t want to go across town, I’ll stop at North Coast, suck in the gut, and hope for the best.
