Jimmy’s Wings

Came in based on other Unilocal reviews.
It’s a total dive in a strip mall in the middle of blue collar, suburban residential. As long as you come in with that perspective, it’s great. If you come in expecting something else, it’s likely a letdown on décor.
I ordered the lunch special boneless wings. When ordering, I was instructed to call ahead if I’m in a hurry. Other Unilocalers are correct when they say food service speed is slow. I waited 28 minutes. That being said, the wings were great. Not under seasoned, not soaked in sauce but covered well enough, and they were right out of the fryer when I got them. Crisp, moist, yum.
Fries come with it. Though they are well cooked, they cry out for salt and there’s no salt on the tables. Veg comes with it. An afterthought in my mind, and I rarely let it affect my opinion. Celery was cold, chopped and not rotten, so that’s good.
In terms of value, I think this place delivers. It’s cheap for the area. Will I be back? Oh yes, but likely phone ahead.

I’m not to sure why everyone is raving about this place .
Maybe we came on a bad night but the food was horrible .
Everything was burnt and the staff wasn’t very friendly either .
Ya it’s a hole in the wall place but it doesn’t even have that hole in the wall charm. More like a outdated 80’s creepy movie.

Bought a bunch of wings for a party we were hosting. I would say they were a big hit. My husband really liked them and their prices are very decent (compared to others). Will return. The inside of this place reminds me of an 80’s fast food place. Somewhere where you will play video games and eat wings. Total «Fast Times and Ridgemont High» feel to it

Anytime I’m looking for some good wings I either go here or go to Willys, the wings are constantly crispy and the sauce is awesome. People always knock Willys or Jimmys for being slow. The wings are cooked to order so either call ahead of time like I do, or sit there and don’t bitch. I’d rather wait a little for fresh wings. The counter lady at Jimmys is always nice and very pleasant. This is my go to place for wings

My coworkers and I came here yesterday because that $ 8 lunch special of 10 wings, fries, and a drink sounded like a damn good deal.
I asked if I could do half of my wings BBQ and half hot. The guy said it would be an extra dollar and looked annoyed. My coworker asked if they can do a substitution for the fries. He said they didn’t do substitutions. Fair enough, this was such a good deal we didn’t expect we would be able to get our way with extra stuff.
The place is pretty large. Very modest, basic décor. Standard for a wing place.
The reason for a lack of two stars was how long our order took. We took a seat to wait and several other patrons started coming in and waiting as well. After 10 minutes, we made the assumption that they must be making everyones wings at once or something. After another 10 minutes passed, we were getting extremely hungry. I think they only had two guys working during the lunch rush.
I was also a little bummed because we planned on spending half of our lunch break here and the other half at the park, but since it took 20 minutes for our food to come out, we had to immediately go straight back to work when we left.
The wings here are VERY good, so are the fries. But fries are unsalted and there is no salt on the table, boo. The hot wings have just the right amount of heat.
Next time we come here we decided we would order our food on the way there and bring it to the park. Totally coming back for the great food but no one has 20 minutes to wait around in the middle of their work day.

Wings were good but it would be better if they had breaded wings. I love the corn nuggets (not sure exact named because I didn’t order). And the personal size funnel cake! Sooo good I could eat two. This place is in a slow neighborhood off 20^th and youngfield. Looks like a hole in the wall place but is definitely worth trying. I love to support small businesses. I guess this is a family business, along with Willys Wings in Morrison. They have good weekday lunch specials too.

Holy smokes, it took me a year to find a place with amazing wings here after moving from the Midwest, been coming here for years ever since. Hot Wings and fries, simple and good need I say more. They never skimp and the quality is always the same and excellent

The BEST wings in the Denver/​Lakewood area. We have been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. Consistently great food and friendly staff. Highly recommended!

This place is the bomb! Can’t get any better in West Denver. It’s no frills, made to order, and served with down home personality.
I have been poisoned from others undercooked wings, and I have no problem with the wait here.
Some mention needs to made about the sauce. The XX Hot is fairly mild, but I love spicy foods. What I mean here is that even his hottest sauce won’t punish you but will provide a nice flavor to enjoy your wing meal.

The wings were pretty solid. Not my favorite in town but Jimmy knows what he is doing in the wing realm. I liked that the wings were very meaty, had a good flavor and the lunch special was a good price. I would like to see a few more flavor variations but if you are hungry for some wings this is definitely a good place to go.

Bottom line this guy gets it. His wings are solid every I have been there. Honestly I’d be hard pressed to find a better shop than this (Other than Willys which he owns). LOVE THIS PLACE

Best wings in town. Even better if you eat them at the restaurant when they are hot. Great owner. Untouchable wings. Good prices. Always consistent.

Well, here goes update part deux. Because Jimmy’s is so close to home, it remains a semi-​frequent lunch destination on days that I don’t have to work. In the last year or so I’ve again become more impressed with Jimmy’s. Both the quality and the taste of the food is pretty high. The last several times that I have been to Jimmy’s have all been positive experiences, and I’m really glad to see that they appear to once again have gotten their act together. It’s a great, local, independently owned restaurant– and exactly the type of place that I like to give my patronage to.

Could be the perfect wing. Perfect balance of crisp to tenderness. X-​hot sauce was full of flavor and good heat. These sauces are made the correct way and way better than the pasty, mass-​manufactured BWW and Steak n Lube sauces.
I will be back for more!

We’ve been going to Jimmy’s for years. If I understand it correctly, Jimmy cut his «wing» teeth at the original Willy’s Wings and also owns the Willy’s Wings store in Morrison. For years Jimmy’s was in my top two or three favorite wing stores. Then, they went through a bit of a down-​cycle marked by inconsistent food quality. I’m pleased to report that our last few experiences suggest that Jimmy’s is back to the consistent good quality we enjoyed for so long — certainly hope that is true. My experience today was actually 4 stars, but I’m giving it a conservative 3 stars overall because of the fairly recent inconsistency.
We went today for the lunch special — 10 wings, fries, celery with blue cheese or ranch and drink for $ 7 and some change. We all received 12 wings per order rather than 10. Wings were delicious — cooked through, crispy on the outside and dripping with sauce. Both the medium and hot sauces are good — I like the hot best — it has a bit of a bite and maintains good flavor but is far from deadly. We’ve also done takeout a lot from Jimmy’s and our order has always been accurate, ready when they said it would be and carefully packaged (which is important if you don’t want to dye your upholstery with hot wing sauce).
Bottom line, Jimmy’s is about wings. There are a few other (mainly) fried items on the menu, but I’ve never tried them. Several flat panel TVs turned to sports comprise the ambiance and décor. Dining-​in appears to be mainly during the lunch specials, although you certainly could eat-​in until they close in the evening if you want to, but don’t go to Jimmy’s expecting to get wings and a pitcher of beer in a social environment — that’s not Jimmy’s. Go to Jimmy’s for the lunch special or to pick up an order of wings you phoned in advance for dinner or an evening get together. Jimmy’s has been doing those things, mostly well, for quite a long time.

Well, we just moved into the area and I’m starting to explore the local eateries to see what they have to offer. I’ve driven past Jimmy’s a few times in the last week and finally decided to stop in and give it a try.
While waiting for my 20 piece XX Hot order, I jumped on Unilocal from my phone and read all of the reviews. When I read one from the guy who said the XX Hot wasn’t all that hot and the few reviews saying that there wasn’t enough sauce, I started to get a bit concerned.
There wasn’t any reason to be concerned, because when I got my order home and tucked in, I found the XX Hot sauce had QUITE the kick! You can see the red chilie flake seed all through the sauce… which was more than enough sauce, as far as I’m concerned. I’m one of those wings fans that feel that wings don’t need to be drenched to be good. They just need the right sauce with a bit extra for dipping your celery into.
So, all I can think is the guy who felt that the XX hot wasn’t hot enough has totally fried his taste buds off his tongue from too much habanero OR that Jimmy and his peeps are reading these reviews and making adjustments.
Hey Jimmy! If you ARE reading these posts (and listening to your customers) and making changes based on what you hear, all I can say is… GOOD ON YA, MATE! I hope you keep getting enough business to keep you going, because we’re planning on living in the neighborhood for quite awhile and I want to you to stay open a LONG TIME!
I’ve eaten some great wings all over the country, including the original home, Buffalo, New York, and Jimmy’s wings can easily-​compete with all of them. the ONLY reason I didn’t give Jimmy’s all 5 stars is because I agree with a few of the other reviewers… MORE BLUE CHEESE, PLEASE! That little cup you dish out ain’t nearly enough for a 20 piece!
That’s ok, though… now I know to ask for some extra. And, I know to back down my heat level to X Hot or just Hot! My mouth is STILL on fire! But, even with my tongue a bit on the numb side, I couldn’t stop eating those flavorful wings until all 20 of them suckers were nothing but a pile of bones (which I sucked clean!)

Had a quick late lunch early dinner here with Hubs after one «aftermath» incident in Golden, Sunday May 8^th 2011. We were starving but did not want to go far before returning to our house at the other side of town.
We were there say about like 4:50pm ish. Hubs order the fish and chips since he is not into wings that day. While I opt for the wings. I also opt for the fried mushrooms and fried onion rings .
The man behind the counter was friendly, prompt and he was the only one who runs this establishment. Our food came out piping hot, fresh and even Hubs like the fish and chips. I like the fried mushrooms more than the chicken wings. Perhaps I order the wrong kind of chicken wings sauce that day.
We do not mind returning to this establishment when needed and perhaps I might order a different kind sauce for my chicken wings. 3.25 SOLID Stars for this establishment.

I stopped by here for lunch recently. The wings were overcooked. I like sauce on my wings, and there wasn’t much on these. The fries were okay, but they definitely needed more salt or other seasoning (I dipped them in Frank’s red hot at home). While waiting for my wings, they had some show about people getting into accidents and the like… just what I want to see before I eat. I don’t think I’ll be returning.
