I loved the food. service was really good. The food was delicious and including the goupon the price was just right. My only critique would be the music. maybe they should expand to a wider Indian music variety. I would recommend the Himalaya House to all seeking delicious curry :)

Great welcome and constant masala tea refills without asking. Full on veg meal: paneer, tofu, chickpeas, saag, naan — all great stuff. The buffet looked good for non veg as there were a lot of chicken dishes. Super sized veg samosa. But the biggest hit were the Tibetan momos, dumpling skin was awesome. Ask for Ras he was great!

Very good korma and jalfrezi curry. Second favorite Indian in the metro area. Not super great service but tastiness makes up for it.

We had the buffet, and it was alright. I think the tandoori chicken was the best thing I ate. They also put tofu in the Saag, I don’t really understand why they did that. This is a small mom, and pop place, with an adequate buffet.

Came here for lunch buffet. For $ 9.95 it was ok, everything was just a little bland. Strange mix of Chinese(vegetable chow fun?) and Indian(spinach paneer was rich in flavor.). Would come back again maybe, however the Halwa carrot dessert was chilled… I am used to it warm? Very nice staff.

Definitely worth the stop. Excellent curry, saag, and vegetables. Flavor is right on with the perfect spice level. Only disappointment: roti takes 15 – 20 minutes to make fresh, so didn’t want to wait for it. Spacious, prompt service, cloth napkins. *Personal allergy note: dal soup has pinto beans

Safety risk! I’m allergic to nuts, the waiter spoke poor English and swore there were no nuts in the dish we ordered. While this may of been true, something in it was cross contaminated with nuts. The waiter was very confused, yet polite. I’ll be speaking with the manager in the morning.

Amazing– The best indian food I’ve ever had from a great family run place. The sauces were so well balanced with excellent flavors. The Chicken Momo from the Tibetan section was out of this world, and the lamb makhani was so tender, flavorful and satisfying. The Naan is super fresh and hot. Look for a groupon — though it’s worth every penny! The sign outside disguises the greatness of this place.

I’m so happy to have a decent Indian restaurant in our neighborhood! We ordered the lamb saag and shrimp korma and both were the best we’ve ever had. They went perfectly with the garlic naan. I can’t wait to go back to try the other dishes. At first the service was a little slow and we waited awhile for our order to be taken, but everyone was super friendly and attentive.

Pretty good. Great flavor. Ate half of my lamb vindaloo, and bagged up the other half for lunch the following day. Then I stopped at the pet store to get my asshole dog a bag of dog food. The impatient little jack ass at my vindaloo! He gives it four stars, too. Dog food tasted like shit, btw.

After reading all the positive reviews I was looking forward to this experience. The service was great but the food was not. My only complaint was that the dishes and the naan were way too sweet. I could literally taste the added sugar and it was disgusting. I can see how it would appeal to the average gluttonous sugar addicted American, though… Just not me!!!

Came here on a whim with a friend for dinner. Was pleasantly surprised. The food was great, the naan was huge and plentiful, and the staff was alright. Not the best Indian/Himalayan place in town, but is closer than the Sherpa House and does nearly as well. Little worried about their location, as I’ve seen a string of restaurants come and go, and it just doesn’t seem like a very good spot for a restaurant.

Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a friendly host. I ordered the combination appetizer and chicken saag. Both were very tasty. The restaurant has excellent service and my drink of choice(water) was never empty. They accept the major credit cards except for American Express. All in all the experience was delightful.

Lamb korma and chicken momo. Creamy Lamb Korma sauce– that was the nice part. Nothing spectacular and in fact it needed more seasoning. To me it was almost bland. If you don’t know what a Momo is it’s basically potstickers which could either be fried or steamed. If you order this you will be told that it’s an average wait of half hour because they make them fresh. Bland. They also forgot that we asked for fried and not steamed. More waiting. I tried their Rose Lassi. Too sour for my taste. This restaurant is a walking distance from the Sheraton Hotel. So we walked. Almost everywhere in Denver you can walk. It’s awesome. Walking in we noticed it was practically dead except for about three groups. That’s fine we didn’t mind. The four stars on Unilocal was winning over the slight doubt creeping in. Initial service was fast. Food arrived relatively quick. Even for the Momo wait. Then it slowed down almost to a sleep inducing pace to get the check. Everybody was in the kitchen. So, will I go back? Only when desperate for food. Which will never happen in Denver. There’s too many choices. So it’s a resounding«Meh»

Very authentic and home cooked. The genuine nature of this restaurant and it’s cuisine was incredible. As a chef having been in the industry for a very long time, it is refreshing to find such a gem.

This was my first time at Himalaya House. Ive never eaten Himalayan food before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. After being seated the waiter brought out 2 baskets, one was filled with what looked like long thin chips and the other with naan bread along with 3 dripping sauces. Please excuse my ignorance on the names of the sauces but one was green and bitter, one was red and sweet and one was white and tasted like salad dressing. I ordered the Chicken chow chow, which was chicken, vegetables and what looked like spaghetti noodles mixed in a orange colored curry. it was very flavorful and very well proportioned. My girlfriend had the Chicken momo, which was ground chicken and other spices mixed together and stuffed into a dumpling served with a chutney sauce. I tried one of her dumplings and upon biting into it, I was splattered with a greasy yellowish oil. I found the taste of the dumpling was rather bland, but she liked it.

This was my first visit to Himalaya House — we went for the lunch buffet. «Meh, I’ve experienced better» pretty much says it all. Upsides — a pleasant dining room and a gracious young man serving us. Prices are comparable to other Indian/Tibetan/Nepalese restaurants in the area — a couple of pennies of change back from a ten dollar bill for the buffet. The buffet was fresh, well-maintained, and the dishes were colorful and appealing. So why only 2 stars? The taste of the food. It wasn’t distasteful or unpleasant, it was just bland, some dishes bordering on flavorless. The curries were watery, and not a single dish on the buffet popped with the robust, spicy, complex flavors that good Indian and Himalayan cuisine is known for. The buffet is somewhat less ambitious than other lunch buffets as well — fewer entrees and desserts and more buffet space allocated to the salad bar. I’m all for salad, but when I want iceberg lettuce I don’t go to an Indian restaurant. Access to Himalaya House can also be a bit of a challenge. If you’re southbound on Simms the access is easy, but access from northbound Simms is by no means as obvious. This probably explains in part why the restaurant has had multiple lives(and deaths) prior to becoming Himalaya House. Built originally as a Village Inn, the rather dubious history of the building suggests that for a restaurant to be successful, it had better be pretty outstanding in every aspect. In particular, the food had better be great. Granted, the«n» of my experiences to date is only one, but on that day, «great» definitely didn’t come to mind. I will give Himalaya House another try. It wasn’t «bad,» it simply wasn’t «good.» Maybe it was just an off day. Sure hope so — we’re not devoid of good Indian and Himalayan cuisine on the west side, but we could always use another good option.

I’m thrilled to have a place close to my house that serves such great food! I am ecstatic that my friend told me about this place. We went to Himalaya House to celebrate her birthday(her choice). Now that I know this place is here, they may see me once a week. My friend and I shared the veggie samosa appetizer, garlic naan, the saag paneer, and the chicken biryani. Everything was flavored perfectly! I’m already dreaming of going back to try the thupka and the chicken tika masala. Be prepared… I will be back!
