Love the baristas here, I have my favorite and she is always happy to see me and is super helpful! I come here nearly weekly for work related matters, and I look forward to it! My husband and I love their involvement in the community. We love this location of Black Bear and the 72nd street location!

This makes me really sad because it’s my first one star review. I consider myself really fair in ratings, and one is like abnormal for any establishment. One star to me indicates that you need change ASAP! I have never had a bad experience at any of the other black bears and I’ve been to them all. There wasn’t bad service here. However their yogurts are just gross. If you are going to limit your flavours to just 3, you need to have it fresh. So it is a one star compared to any black bear yogurt facility. Also this is a gym!!! «Fruit smoothie» should not come from a pre-mix carton with berry«flavors». There needs to be more healthier options here, like more whole fresh fruits, not pre-sliced packaged apples. Everything is so Sysco based, even the sandwiches. The smuckers pbj & cold looking container sandwiches scream unhealthy, and definitely don’t belong in a gym. Lastly, I am giving this establishment a one star because seriously… When a food item(Planters) is labeled«2 for $ 1 or .59cents each» on the package, why would you charge over .90 cents for ONE? That is nuts! Excuse the pun. This shop is in the ymca, a place where they emphasize & teach children and members about honesty being an important value(based on Christian principles). I don’t see how family or child friendly it is to sell an item like that, with a straight face, for over the suggested PRINTED retail amount. I highly recommend that you no longer sell this or replace it with something else, like your former Sysco packaged raisins. It’s deceptive and really tacky. For now I’ll be bringing my own snacks and drinks.

.35¢ surcharge for purchases under $ 5 with bank debit card! Seriously? I ordered a 16 oz chai late… Total was $ 4.05. The cashier informed me there would be a surcharge… So I added a snack on and was still ticked that I would had to of given an extra 1⁄3 dollar to black bear yogurt… And a snack I did not want. This location is in my YMCA– the same YMCA that serves our community and low-income families and Lakewood residents. I can certainly understand this type of surcharge when I use my American Express; however, not my bank debit card! I will be sure to notify YMCA management this type of fleecing is happening to their members. Needless to say, I will no longer be a black bear yogurt customer. I will buy my coffee elsewhere– even if I have to drive out of my way to get there.
