Belmar Library

Although Jefferson County has many libraries, this seems to be the grand central hub of them all. Large building with alot of different sections. One thing that they lack is comfortable seating, hard wooden chairs in the section where you can bring your laptop and a definite lack of electrical outlets, I along with the other people in the area had to share outlets. Other than that, it is mostly quiet and a respectable place to study, do homework or other business needs.

This library is my jam. The staff are the best, it’s the best place to study and they have great services and selection. In general, the library is one of the best things ever and I’m so fortunate to have one so close!

Nice library, clean, quite and comfortable. The staff was very knowledgeable and was able to assist in helping me find a book for my son’s project. Getting a card here was so simple. I wish Denver Public library was as simple.

Clean and well-​organized, but super crowded. The aisles were jam-​packed with people and all of the computers were booked (no pun intended), not that I needed one anyway. Since it was my first time at a Jefferson County library, I went ahead and signed up for a library card. The process was quick and painless, and I got a cute card to boot! The library’s selection isn’t extensive, but it’s fairly varied. From what I was told by the librarian who assisted me with obtaining the card, the checkout possibilities are limitless with inter-​library loans and other book-​sharing systems. At any rate, I picked a handful of books and movies already on the shelves and stumbled through the self-​checkout. There was some sort of glitch with the computer that made it seem like some of the items hadn’t been checked out properly, but one of the attendants was kind enough to assist me. Overall, I had a pleasant experience. I’m excited to discover more during my next visit!

In response to my previous post, I commented on the book selection. Turns out, I was incorrect.
Since that visit, I learned about a blogger who does book reviews. I also learned that the Belmar library allows you to put things on hold online. Dangerous.
I made a big list of things I was interested in, and went to the website to check it out. Not only did they have most of the books I was looking for, they make it super easy by putting your holds on a shelf for you to pick up with your name sticking out of them.
Turns out I’m luckily I’m a quick reader because I’ve read about 12 books in the last two months and I’m looking forward to getting more.
Also, this library is incredibly high tech (or maybe I’m just not used to libraries anymore) but the checkout system doesn’t require a human (which, honestly, I miss — a LOT), and the return system is a conveyor belt that scans barcodes and has a tv screen that shows you how it sorts them on the other side (OMG).
I’ve been to this library probably more than any other library in the past decade or so.
Come here. It’s wonderful!

I think this is the best branch in Jefferson County. It’s always very clean, well-​organized and has a great selection.
I also find the community activities plentiful and fun. From book sales to family story time to adult programs there is something for everyone.

I love to read.
I hate to pay $ 25 for all of my authors’ new releases so I can read them immediately.
Enter: The Belmar Library.
I can browse their catalogue online, reserve and request titles, and even request new releases before they’ve been released. They’ll transfer them in from other Jefferson County Library locations, email me when they’re ready, and set them on shelves right at the front of the library for me to grab, check out, and go!
Of course, when I forget my library card (every time) they’ll check them out for me.
I mean… how can you complain about free books?

My wife loves to read so we come here often to check out books.
You can conveniently reserve books online and receive an e-​mail notification when it’s ready for pick-​up and a reminder e-​mail when your due date is coming up so you don’t forget. They keep holds on a shelf alphabetically under your last name near the front entrance by the lobby so you can just walk right in and grab it. Check out is simple. Just scan your card and scan your book and you are good to go. If you forget to bring your library card (as we do quite frequently) just show your driver’s license to the librarian.
They have a spiffy after-​hours drop-​off. Just place the book on the conveyor belt when the light is green, the book will slide under the scanner while it turns red, and when the light turns green again feed it another.
And they are conveniently open 7 days a week with extended evening hours during the mid-​week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays until 8pm. It is also in walking distance of beautiful and historic Belmar park. One of the best public libraries in Colorado.
Best of all, it’s FREE. Can’t beat that.

Nice fairly new library. Has a pretty good research section, plenty of desks for studying, and a nice reading room with views of the park. The staff has been pretty helpful. The architectural book spine incorporated into the roof is a nice touch.

I love the libraries in Denver. They have great hours, awesomely fast check-​out kiosks and those ATM like things to return your books. I tell my friends and family in Florida about the hours, and they’re all jealous. «Your library is open on Sunday!?»
That having been said, I wish that they carried more of the books that so many people seem to be clamoring for. Every time I go to put a hold on something, it seems like I’m in line behind 97 people with three books making the rounds. I wind up just canceling my holds and buying the books, most of the time, because I want to read them this year and not next.
That having been said, I know that library budgets are tight (reading? what is this reading thing you speak of!?) and so I can’t blame the libraries. I can say that they’re always clean, staffed by friendly librarians and I love visiting them, even if just to kill some time.

Great selection of books and magazines. Only downside is trashy patrons, but I suppose that’s par for the course at most public libraries. Just today had some «thugged out» looking dude get up from his computer and slam the chair in before walking out of the library all pissed off. Maybe he had just read that his parole officer wanted to have an impromptu meeting this week? Then there was the naco ass spigger with a full sleeve and neck tats. Then there was the girl who looked just like Snooki except less orange who was on the computer across from me and kept pulling her chewing gum out of her mouth and playing with it (in between typing). Yuck.
But yeah, I imagine it’s still better than the libraries in the city

i love libraries and jefferson county has a great selection of books! i went to visit a friend in phoenix and their library selection is so sad compared to this one. at first i wasn’t fan of this location because the library seemed smaller than i would have hoped. (i really like the central library in downtown denver). however, this location has a nice place to read surrounded by windows that face the park — lovely!

Let me start by saying ANYONE who wants to give this place less then four stars, let me remind you that your not paying a dime to come here. An old saying my mother told me: «Beggars can’t be choosers». Your lucky to have a library at all.
That said: this is an amazing library. It’s so large, and if they don’t have a book they will search all of America (no joke) to get it. They literally bend over backwards to get you what you need, and it’s so amazing because again: It’s free. Not dime one. (Unless your irresponsible and loose/​damage books).
Furthermore the people who work here are so kind. They will help you with anything and everything. There are so many machines (I’ll get to that in a minute) that it can actually be intimidating to realize how to work it, but all you have to do is go to the front desk and they will not only help you with it, but they won’t give you attitude. If your like me and sometimes just have the hardest time finding a book with their system, they will even go out of their way and take you to the location of the book, or if your looking for recommendations hey will give you a whole stack of great books to choose from. And again; no attitude.
They have a ton of equipment: Microfiche machines (with a whole collection of old newspaper reels for you to choose from) Typewriters, obviously computers, printers, copy machines, if you need it they have it. They also have a new self check in machine which I find rather interesting. I did think the box was quicker, however this self check in helps gets things on shelves quicker.
The only sad thing about this library is the budget cuts. It really can be depressing to see that they have to close the library on Mondays now. I just hope they can survive the bad economy.
Overall an amazing library, we are so lucky to have such a great one.

I have returned to the fold of library card owners via the JeffCo Public Library at Belmar.
I liked it! Good feel, very open, also very automated — you can very easily check your own books out by scanning your library card and just placing your books on a panel that reads the barcode. Books can be out for 21 days.
HUGE selection of audio books on CD, which we are big fans of as we use them on road trips, plus I commute over an hour each day for work.
The children’s section had tons, was easily ¹⁄₃ the size of the adult section and had toys, several reading areas, and a solid range of books for all age ranges.
Getting a card? It literally took 60 seconds. Give them your DL, pick your card design, print your name on the back of the card and you are given both a standard card and a key fob as well.
We brought 8 books home today, can’t wait to get to reading!

This library is definitely the people’s library and very popular. You will find all walks of life in this library, plus a very busy computer lab. If you have your own computer, I would avoid trying to get a computer here– there is always a line waiting for a reservation. The staff is more than willing to go the extra mile to help with anything– computer information, finding a book, looking up anything you might remember one keyword in the title, you name it.
It is a smaller library, but not so small that it doesn’t have selection. It has a wide range that offers a great selection of all the current best sellers and then some. Readers, enjoy.

Good selection in the library, and a fun Friends of the Library store where I got a couple of oversize paper backs for only $ 1. But don’t count on that price on a regular basis. Their children’s paperbacks are $ 1, and adult paperbacks are $ 1, but it goes up from there. I’m a big fan of used books, and love finding some good ones that I can take and pass on after I read them.

A deceptively large library, the new branch at Belmar (actually across the street at Lakewood Commons) is a great place to find book or just get some work done. They have free wifi and 3 large rooms you can usually just sign into and get some quite working time. The staff here is very helpful and friendly and the location is great as the Village Roaster coffee shop is in the same center. Well done.
