I was totally misled by «antique mall» and stopped here with a friend. I felt like we were in some guy’s garage who«collected» a whole bunch of random crap and rented a storefront to show it off. We didn’t make it past the front counter. It’s not antiques, and it’s definitely not an antique mall.

If you’re looking for a massive, well-organized mall like Brass Armadillo, don’t come here. This place is more like a three-story version of your grandmother’s basement. The main floor is okay. The merch is laid out relatively nicely and most of it is clearly(and somewhat fairly) priced. My first impression was that there wasn’t nearly enough stuff to fill out the place. A lot of furniture and books, a few records, but not much in the«collectables» or «treasures» department. There’s a whole lot of emptiness going on. In fact, there’s a bit of a desperate feel to the place, if that makes sense. Downstairs, on the basement level, you’ll find a bunch of half-assembled crap and random boxes. There’s also a creepy looking coffee shop. I’m not sure if it serves a function during more-active business hours, but it was weird. There was a lone guy lurking down there when we visited and he tried to sell us a non-antique, IKEA-esque table-and-2-chairs set that he’d «acquired»(because it came without the assembly bolts… or because it «fell of da’ back of a truck, yo») for the laughable price of $ 120. Dude, I could buy that NEW for less than that. Bolts and karma included. The third floor is where you’ll find the clothes. The whole area up there is pretty scary, with little rooms and darkened hallways. Each room is devoted to a different seller’s wares, and while some are reasonably well organized others are downright chaotic. One cool spot to note is the Free Boutique, in which all the stuff is FREE if you need it to be! They suggest leaving whatever you can donate(on the honor system)… but if you want it FREE you get it FREE. Very cool. The Antique Mall of Lakewood is basically a glorified crapshow… but just like any crapshow, if you dig deep enough you might just find something cool!

When I read this place was three floors of goodies I got pretty excited and expected to find a lot of cool stuff… I was sadly mistaken. The selection here is pretty sparse and there is nothing really of quality. I would say the majority of items in here can be labeled as «junk.» Not antique junk either, more like garage sale… a really bad garage sale. I will say though that they price it accordingly, nothing in this store is all that expensive, but that doesn’t mean its worth buying either. The ONLY good thing I will say about this place is that they have a pretty decent collection of old records/vinyl. I bought a couple jazz records, thats it. I wouldn’t bother coming in unless you are a collector of records, other than that, this place is a glorified flea market of crap.
