Iron Pony Saloon

Let me preface this review by saying that I always come here after a long hard day of work on a farm and am super duper hungry.
Honestly, I love this place. But you have to go in with reasonable expectations. This is a bar out in the middle of farm country that also happens to have a food menu. The place is filled with local redneck farmers. There’s country music on the radio and the weather on the tv (I think when we were there last night another tv may have actually been playing an infomercial). With that in mind:
It’s a really no-​frills joint with good food, cheap prices, and all of the common beers. I usually get the pony burger. For $ 7.99, it’s a half pound burger (made from chopped steak, so the meat’s coarser/​more delicious than run-​of-​the-​mill ground beef) with all of the fixings and more hand-​cut fries than you could ever eat. I have never ever finished a plate here, but always leave «fat and happy.»
From a satisfaction standpoint, I would give this place a five, but to be honest, you can’t always be sure that what you ordered is what you’re going to get (my husband and I got each others’ meals last night, but his came without the toppings he’d ordered, so he didn’t notice until he was ¾ finished with my burger. Wamp wamp). Also, the food is a bit salty. I love that about it, but I realize that other may not.

The upstairs and downstairs, are two completely separate businesses that share the same kitchen. After being directed downstairs to order we decided to back upstairs because the patio was wet. We were told we couldn’t eat upstairs and would have to go back outside… Then we had to serve our own drinks and when I went inside they actually asked me to carry out some silverware for someone else at my table. The food was so-​so, The service was nonexistent, and the bathrooms smell horribly moldy. They made everything my problem just to sit down and have a meal.

AWESOME PLACE. we head there on the bike and stop for a cold one and a burger. The mushroom swiss is the bomb! If you want fast service then this place is not for you but the wait is worth it.

This place was jammin on a Thursday around 7:00. We grabbed the last booth to see a line forming quickly from the outside. The service was good, she quickly grabbed us some beers ($ 1 dollar drafts) and took our order when we were ready. My only complaint is that it took us almost a hour to get out food. Like I said there was a lot of people in there, some families, some construction works, and regulars at the bar. I ordered the fried fish which was stellar and my date ordered the steak, both were generous portions. We will definitely check this place out again, maybe for more drinks next time!
Note: there is a mysterious down stairs that grabbed my attention. Can’t wait to check it out.
