This is a great short hike 2 – 3 miles. Only takes about 2 hours to go through. Nice scenery and the wildlife is awesome. Roadrunners and quail abound! The trails and maps need to be a little better. Some forks are hard to understand and what trails loop back, etc. Two miles is nice, but a four mile loop here would be awesome!

This is a super great place to hike with little ones or for a quick trip. I’d say this is a very easy trail and I’m completely out of shape today! We took the upper meadow trail and the kids had a blast playing and climbing on rocks. From start to finish nothing too intense uphill or downhill and a beautiful view of the lake below. Recommend walking(no carrying) for ages 2 and older. We saw lots of flora and probably five varieties of mushrooms on January 1, 2013. Great parking lot and bathroom huts very clean. Great trail for dogs too!

Well I really wanted to like this hike but both times I’ve gone, there was nothing but nonstop light plane traffic overhead. It was so constant that it really detracted from the hike and the beauty of the trail. Maybe it’s just like that on weekends but it was enough to make me not want to go back. Otherwise it’s a fine, easy hike and nice trail because we hardly saw any other hikers while we were there:)

This has just become my favorite trail! It is well maintained with shade and water features and great scenic overlooks. Took an hour and a half to do the loop which had some strenuous spots but was for the most part great rolling ups and downs on a nice trail; perfect for trail walking or running.

Great hike to get away from the hassles of city life and see some nature. Close enough– but not too far away. Nice loop so you don’t have to backtrack and so far have not encountered any mountain lions or bears. Those looking for a greater challenge can go across the street to hike the El Capitan trail(San Diego’s most challenging hike) My GF likes to gamble up the street at Barona while I am hiking… that is OK I appreciate the peace and quiet without her constant nagging she likes the flashing lights and bells/whistles of the casino whereas i prefer the subtle stimulation of nature so long as she does not blow our retirement fund I’m Ok with it

This little used park is a delight. The trail that goes through it is 2.5 miles, smooth, with just a couple of short steep sections, and a fine scenic overlook of San Vincente. Go in the early morning when it’s cool. Park opens at 7:00 a.m. weekdays, mostly, unless the Ranger is a little late. No mountain biking is allowed, just hikers and horses. It opens 9:30 a.m. weekends, according to the website. This is a photographic essay of the trail:
