We tried this place and omg its the very best of the best. First we order a jumbo shrimp cocktail and it was excellent. The steak was wonderful and cooked absolutely to perfection. The bread, salad and the baked potato that was included were all delicious and our server Danny was on top of every detail. We will go back very soon. The total price for this dinner was a pleasant surprise in comparison to the other fine steak houses in and around San Diego. I rate the entire experience a 100.

This place is good but for being a fancy expensive stake house it came short. I always wanted to try there dry aged beef. I am a big ribeye fan so I asked for there best ribeye and cooked to medium rare added a side of baked potato. First it came over cooked and my wife forced me to send it back(I hate complaining about food) but it came back cooked well and was okay, for the price I did not like it, also the service was very sub par for a stake house. In the end I was not pleased and got a feeling that most patrons are being comped meals as they were very suprised I was paying a $ 200 bill in cash. I will not go back

My first bad review. Sigh. Where to start… Prices here and ambience match a top level steakhouse. Food and service do not. The bread was stale and reheated to seem fresh. My spinach salad with goat cheese and walnuts was insanely sweet and practically inedible. My porterhouse«medium rare» was murdered by a chef allergic to the color pink. Accompanying mashed potatoes were gummy. Broccolini?(Best guess) was limp and tasteless. Worst of all: the restaurant was hijacked by a table of reveled literally screaming with laughter and applauding and cheering each others’ jokes. I and the chap at the next table both spoke separately to the manager. When I asked what she was planning to do about the loud table, her response was«Which table is that? There are a lot of tables here.» She later spoke to the loud group. They were quiet for 10 minutes and then returned to their ways. At which point the manager had«gone on break,» according to the hapless server. On the bright side, both the buffet and the Italian restaurant at Barona are quite good. Go there.

Great, great place for a peaceful dinner with great service and food! This was my first visit. I had the filet mignon and my husband had the prime rib. Both dishes came with a choice of two sauces for the meat. Portion size was impressive for the prices. We will be going back.

Amazing ambience, awesome presentation in their plates and food was delicious, our waiter was very professional. I would have given a 5 star if the hostess wasn’t so prejudice, because NO, I am not a serious gambler so I don’t have a high club card, I just like good food and she literally look at us as little as her brain, she was the only disappointment.

Theres literally nothing I could complain about. This place was top notch! Service was phenomenol– our server was super helpful and very nice and accomodating. The ambiance was amazing with a live piano player. Went for my moms bday and requested some Frank Sinatra for her and the piano player delivered well! Good selection of wine and good stuff on the menu. I had the filet mignon with the bacon cheddar gratin(the bacon was like millionaire bacon– think chunks). The filet mignon was cooked just as I asked and the veggies were tasty. Goat cheese sald was good but dressing was slightly acidic. Cheese plate– good selections. Cheese cake and carrot cake dessert– got em to go but they were awesome! Coolest thing eva… I walked into this place thinking I hope they have candles on the table so I can use them to see the menu cuz it was VERY dim lighting. Their menus LIGHTUP! This is awesome– I have never seen this before and its not an obnoxious light, its just really easy to read lit up. Even their check at the end lit up. Cheers Barona Steak House– I will return.

Amazing steakhouse. I understand why they continue to win awards. My husband and I ate here for our anniversary and it was AMAZING! We ordered the mixed grill which was incredibly tasty. I highly recommend this dish because of the wagyu mostly, but also the other portions of shrimp, filet, and lamb were on point! Be sure to order your steak with the glaze and medium rare. Barona has the best glaze I have ever had(and if you have read my other reviews you would know that steak is pretty much all I eat and was raised on). My husband ordered the buffalo rib eye, and we were worried at first about the buffalo being dry because of how lean it was… But OH my gosh it was not at all! If you are missing a gamey tasting meat, all wrapped up into a juicy rib eye… You must order this one. All of the menu items were quite tempting, but we went with the buffalo because you hardly see this item at steakhouses. Just incredible!

This is a great restaurant I celebrated my birthday here Saturday w a large party food was amazing it was beautifully decorated love the piano music. Was having dessert when my don alerted me he was sick and threw up on me before I could finish my crime brule only complaint is e security talking down to me when I’m trying to help my toddler feel better from eating way too much didn’t much care for security again trying to shake my hand and block me from walking to my car while covered in vomit but aside from that we had a great waiter great good just wish we could have finished dessert

Love this place! You get a lot for your money here. The food was a little above par but the 5 stars is for the ambiance. The décor is very tasteful and there’s a live pianist playing near the fireplace. It’s not overly crowded or noisy like Donovons, Morton’s or mastro’s in Newport Coast. We had Kobe steak, lamb chop, filet mignon, rib eye, shrimp, scallops and butcher cut steaks. The sautéed mushrooms is I think the best I’ve ever had in any of the steak houses I’ve visited. Oh, one more thing, the menu has led lights in the back that lights up when you open. Isn’t cool? I’ve never seen this anywhere.

Enjoyed a lovely dinner with my mom as we celebrated her birthday early. Beautiful ambiance, great service and delicious food! My filet mignon could’ve used a bit more seasoning, but still good. Only my second time trying lobster(my first was several years ago & I didn’t care for it). The lobster tail here is VERY good! My crab cake appetizer was so flavorful. I have yet to try our dessert, which we took to go, but I have a feeling I won’t be disappointed. Our server, Cory, was wonderful & very attentive! Thank you, Barona steakhouse, for a great experience!

Once again, Barona Steakhouse gets my nod as THE spot for a great steak, awesome(yet casual) service, and a relaxed atmosphere. You’ll watch all the winners and losers stroll in after their slot machine marathons, all in search of a decent bite whether they’re celebrating their winnings or licking their wounds. For my family, it’s all about some good QT. Last night we celebrated my birthday! Wait, my birthday was in February. Don’t ask, it’s just how we roll as a fam. In an effort to kill three birds with one stone we also celebrated my brother’s birthday and my mom’s too, which took/take place in June and July respectively. On the menu for the night: — Orfila Merlot for the table. — Dad ordered the escargot, Caesar salad and the filet. I didn’t try either. — Mom ordered the seared scallop appetizer and the surf and turf — filet with a lobster tail. I snagged a bite of the seared scallops and they were excellent. — Brother-man got the seared ahi appetizer and also the surf and turf — filet with a lobster tail. Nothing but rave reviews of the lobster from both my mom and brother. — I landed myself an order of calamari, a grilled shrimp salad and the New York strip. The calamari made its way around the table and we all enjoyed it very much, especially the lightly breaded jalapeño rings and the mixed green topping it off. The salad was also excellent highlighted with perfectly grilled shrimp(I gave half of them away) and the chunks of avocado. My steak was hefty! It was charred, cooked to medium rare and was the nail in my coffin and I devoured the entire thing. Once I polished it off, I couldn’t even dare look at the au gratin potatoes… those lonely bastards. My love for this place is not confidential. It holds a special place in our hearts for family gatherings and the staff is always eager to please. Last night it was Alan who took excellent care of us, and for that, this reviewer is grateful. He rolled with the punches,(my mother is a feisty woman), and was very attentive without being overbearing. This has always been the case at Barona and certainly one of the many reasons that keep us coming back for more!

On July 4, 2015 we celebrated a very special birthday. We were a party of 15 so they gave us the private dining room with two dedicated and very attentive servers: Cory and Danny. We started with cocktails, wine and plenty of appetizers. Crab cakes(2), calamari(2), escargot(2), onion rings(2), ahi(2), and a large shrimp cocktail(5-pieces). Another round of drinks and we were ready to order. Started with salads and soups. The lobster chowder was exceptional. Entrees ranged from the 30 oz. Tomahawk ribeye special to sea bass. Even though most entrees came with a modest vegetable and potato(or rice pilaf) side we ordered extra vegetables to share. Our ages ranged from 21 – 70’s so we had a couple dietary restrictions. It didn’t even phase Cory and Danny. They handled it like pros. Next came another round of drinks and a bottle of Rombauer Cab. The service was friendly and professional. They met our needs without hovering. While this was not a Morton’s, Ruth’s Chris or Flemings, we were all very impressed and pleased with the food and service. The highlights were the Tomahawk, Smoked Ribeye and Mixed Grill. Oh wait… the biggest surprise was the bill! $ 959.00 before tip… for 15 people! I have paid 3 times that much at Ruth’s Chris. Oh one more thing… the $ 1600 jackpot topped of the evening very nicely.

Affordable quality food considering that this place is buried in the middle of the mountains. Healthy food can be found here. We ordered the following: To drink The Poker cocktail. For starters: Shrimp cocktail, Lobster Bisc soup & Cesar salad Main dishes: Prime rib Lobster tail Rib eye with bacon wrapped jumbo shrimp Everything is seasoned tastefully. If your not to big on sauces & dressing make sure to request them on the side or ask for light dressing. The portions are big

Hidden gem inside of Barona. My pops comes to Barona a couple times a week and he plays quite a bit of money. When I feel like going up there, I tell him to get me a voucher. On the special occasions he will get a voucher for the steakhouse. Man do I love when he does! The last time I went here I got the best steak I’ve ever had in my life! It was a tomahawk steak and was gigantic! I was in awe! It tasted great! It seriously looked like a dinosaur bone!

Don’t think because it’s in a casino is not a first class steakhouse because this place is legit. The dining room is beautifully appointed with numerous crescent shaped booths which can seat 4 – 5 comfortably. There’s a beautiful stackstone fireplace and a piano player who provides pleasant background music. The waitstaff are knowledgeable & gracious. But what makes this a real stand out is the food. This was my third visit & this place delivers quality consistently. Ordered the crab cake which had no breadcrumbs whatsoever. It was stacked with crab, avocado & orange segments & was a large portion for an appetizer. Also ordered the seared scallop appetizer which was perfectly seared and served atop a small salad of arugula & nopales. I love scallops so this was my favorite. For our entrees we had the Maine lobster that was served with a citrus butter & a fully loaded lobster potato — can we say more lobster then one person can eat in a single session?! Our other entrée was a dry aged porterhouse that was perfectly charred on the outside & cooked to a perfect medium rare. This was the most tender juicy steak ever.

Used to be a great steakhouse a couple of years ago, but today the service is poor and the quality of the food has gone downhill. Service is slow, inattentive, and no attention to detail. For the price point you would expect crumbs to be removed, drinks refilled without asking, plates to be cleared in a speedy fashion – you’ll find none of that here. This place used to be on par with Ruth’s Chris, but now it’s more like Outback. The quality of the meat is still very good, but they don’t know how to season it anymore. So while the tenderness is there, the flavor is bland. Garnish and sauces are equally bland and uninspiring. Lobster is bitter and overcooked. The ambience is fine, but even that used to be better. They used to have a live pianist, today they pipe in Muzak through the overhead speakers. I’m fairly sure they played Kenny G last night. Sad. Ultimately, this place stopped trying some time ago. Perhaps the managers thought that since people are shelling out the money anyway, why spend the extra money to keep top wait staff and great chefs. If you win big at Barona and want to treat yourself to a great steak dinner, cash in, and drive to Donovan’s, Morton’s, or Ruth’s Chris.

AVOIDATALLCOSTS. Rude. Mean. There are some other choice 4-letter words I would like to use, but I’m classier than those words. I had the worst service experience here with my family a few weeks ago. Their only saving grace is that their food is actually good… and great portion sizes for the price. But I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here… I’d rather spend $ 50 at Fogo de Chao.

Wow, Barona Steakhouse is really amazing! My daughter and I celebrated our birthdays here 12÷23÷14 and I can’t wait to go back. Besides the cozy feel the food is truly delicious. The bone in rib eye is mouth watering and memorable!(See pic) Everything was amazing, it was everything I expected from a high end steak house. I’m very happy with my experience at Barona Steakhouse. They made us feel special from the moment we walked in, till the moment we walked out. I can’t wait to come back. Special shout-out to Rodrigo for the stellar service.

By far last night was a killer night! Alan is a great server and the good was just as on point as himself! He was friendly and fast and even brought my sister and I 2 chopped salads to enjoy while we were waiting for our entrée without even ordering it! I loved the macaroons and truffles we had from there as well! Always going to come back!

A friend asked if I was up for a nice dinner because she wanted to treat me as a thank you gift. Of course, I’d never turn down a free meal, so I said«I’m all in!» and off to the steakhouse we went. It was a bit of a drive and I have to admit I was skeptical because she raved about how great the place was. The place was dimly lit, and had a beautiful fireplace along with a piano player.(good place for a romantic date, maybe at some point I’ll actually have one to take here) Our service was fantastic. Always right there when you need them, but not hovering over you making you uncomfortable. Our waiter made some recommendations and we ordered the following: Prawns/Shrimp cocktail **Gargantuan delicious shrimp** Jumbo Lump crab cake with orange/avocado salad **so flavorful, tons of crab meat, and the orange played a perfect accompaniment to the crab** Spinach and goat cheese salad **could eat this all day every day** Filet Mignon and Australian lobster tail(we both ordered this) **star of the show, meat so tender you could cut it with a fork** As you can tell from above, we are both on diets and didn’t want to go overboard. ;) We opted to skip dessert because there were no wheel barrows available to haul us out of the restaurant. Needless to say, my skepticism about the drive dwindled 3 bites into the steroid shrimp!!! YUMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!
