Safeway

Love this Safeway!
They offer wonderful fresh baked goods baked in house, like the bread pudding wow just like my moma use to make. Safeway makes Christmas living on Clearlake awesome.
Now if only they sell Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, bread pudding CHECKED

Lorilee gave us the most excellent customer service with such a cute sense of humor! She is very patient and kind and we look for her as a cashier every time we shop at Safeway

It is difficult to point out any one thing, but every day that passes following the sale of Safeway to an investment group, seems to diminish the store’s relevance and quality.
First and foremost are the empty shelves in certain aisles, most notably, the dry goods section (i.e., toilet paper, paper towels, etc). It’s either empty shelves or a reduction to a selection of products I don’t particularly want.
The other problems are harder to characterize crisply, but they mostly have to do with the «Just4U» program (which from what I’ve read is possibly not loved by current management).
The variety and relevance of items now offered to me by Just4U have vastly diminished…, really almost making the program irrelevant. …, and when I do try to make a purchase using the program, EASILY ²⁄₃ of the items that were offered and that I selected and that I try to purchase will be out of stock…, sometimes never re-​stocked.
All of which forces a kind of downward spiral: the less I buy at Safeway, the less the analytics that Safeway uses w/​the Just4U program will offer, the less I will buy., etc, etc.
Of lesser but still notable import…, the conditions in the parking lot can be revolting. This really more speaks to the social conditions afflicting the area…, but I hope Safeway can give some thought as to how to improve this. I don’t particularly like dodging fully loaded diapers and puddles of vomit while walking into a store with empty shelves. Per other comments, I don’t encounter this problem at the other stores.
On the upside: the employees I’ve interacted with are really good people and have always acted with integrity and respect.
I agree with the sentiment of others regarding the way other local stores have lowered the bar…, it’s just sort of unfortunate that Safeway appears to have joined the race to the bottom.

Update: today…, the parking lot was pretty good. While they didn’t have everything I was looking for, they did have one thing that has been out of stock for a long time. The produce section seemed well stocked, didn’t have time to review prices.

Be very careful if you have to shop there. They allow vagrants to loiter in and around there property for the purpose of begging. They have been caught urinating on vehicles, etc. Instead go to Shop Smart/​Brunos as they are much safer and don’t allow such things.

Okay this is about Safeway Bakery! DO NOT BUY FROM THERE!!! My partner and I just got back from grocery shopping and spending quite a bit of money with them. While we were there we picked my partner up some blueberry cake donuts made in the Safeway Bakery… Well all I can say is watch out… one of those blueberries ended up being a Fly… So freaking Pissed right now it’s not even funny! I have pics but don’t know how to post them here!

Ah Safeway. I have shopped here off and on for 23 years and much more recently after Brunos went to complete garbage. Using just4u you can get some decent deals. Safeway isn’t cheap most of the time. However, the employees tend to be quite nice.
I’m not giving it five stars because they are missing items that I want to buy like real watermelons instead of those seedless monstrosities, chinese five spice, and a better asian foods selection. The deli is EXPENSIVE for what they offer. Besides that, a good place to go shopping.

Safeway is an outpost of civilization in Lake County. In the shadow of the dormant volcano Mount Konocti, it’s a refuge out in the wilderness. When I was headed to Ukiah, I stopped here to get an instant camera.
It’s a clean place with friendly employees. When it comes to Safeway, the more it’s out in the wilderness, the better it is. It does bring normality to Lakeport, and is right off its antique row.

The store is nice, it has everything. I get really good deals with the For U coupons. I add the coupons at home to my card, but I decided to print the list out at the store. The store computers wouldn’t let me select just certain things from the list, i had to print out it all. Which really wastes paper and ink for the store. And also the For U printout kiosk was really dirty. I love the store and I like shopping here so much but if they could just fix the kiosk so I can select certain items to print and possibly wash the table cloth everything would be perfect.
The in-​store Starbucks could probably use some training and encouragement from Starbucks because they are slow and don’t know how to treat gold cards. Also the dining room is consistently dirty.
