Romeo’s Pizza & Pasta

We heard new owners and thought we’d give it a new try. We were seated quickly and delivered drinks. Pizza, pasta, salad, sandwich options. We went for a Philly cheese steak and hot Italiano subs. Both cost about $ 8 and came with salads. Great Balsamic on the generous salad. Subs came promptly and were HUGE. Philly was best we’ve had in Polk County (beats Primo’s, MJ’s, Beefs) – flavorful and oozing. I had a tiramisu for dessert. It was okay but had been frozen and thawed and therefore quite «wet» or «soggy» in the bottom layers. Price was right $ 3, looked beautiful but taste was not fabulous. Would’ve given it 4 stars if dessert were fresh not frozen. Hope to try their pasta some day. Wish they had spicy hot Italian sausage for those of us who like a little spice in our life! Good eating spot.

Best pizza in North Lakeland by far! Also, the pasta dishes are authentic Italian food prepared perfectly. Food tastes like you are eating at a 4 star restaurant. The owners are great and the service is pretty great, too.

Had lunch today after staying away for 5 months. It was worth waiting for new owners Anna and Benny to take over. The tortellini Emily and Spaghetti with meatballs are great. Will be back soon to explore the new items. Highly recommended.

I thought I got sick from the Wedding Soup but it turned out to be something else. So my original review is back here again. I had today the Snapper Key West with Shrimp Special with Lentil Soup. The Lentil Soup reminds me of the days when Rascal House in Sunny Isles Florida was open but without the hotdogs it had. Another words the Soup was great! The Snapper Key West with Shrimp Special was also great better than any other Italian restaurant in Lakeland Florida or just about anyplace. When you eat it cover your shirt with a napkin because the sauce will splatter all over the place and stain your clothes if you do not.
I have been there before make a trip to it for the days it has Lentil Soup if you are a soup person.

This place (5 or 6ys ago maybe) was so yummy! But clearly a new chief is in the kitchen. I called ahead for pick-​up, still ended up standing in line for a long time. Phone was ringing and the girl putting in the orders must be new. Spaghetti and meat sauce was ok. Clams w/​linguini in red sauce was also only ok. Garlic knots were hard as rocks, but i bet when they are fresh they are good. My parents live on the northside, so I’ll probably end up back there, which is fine. The price is right.

I’m not picky and I am usually easy to please but this place was horrible. For one they were under staffed. We and other tables around us were without drinks for over 10min. I will say that their calamari was good. But after that it went way down hill. The soup was burnt, the salad was the poorest bed of iceberg lettuce that I’ve ever seen and my entrée was bland and drowned in greasy sauce. To top it all off the manager didn’t want to give me my money back. He actually fought with us to order something else. Why would we want anything else after that experience?! Finally he waved us off unprofessionaly and took the dish off our check with attitude. A dish that costs him about 4 dollars to make he wanted 15 dollars for it and was trying to force me to order something else so he wouldn’t lose a little bit of money. Well he not only lost his 4 something dollars but he lost costumers too, but he didn’t care. We will never go here again.

The WORST experience I’ve ever had in Romeo’s before. I have lived in Lakeland for ten years my kids and I will always go there to eat, but I am guessing they are under new owners and the place has really gone to sh*t The service was poor, they are understaff, the food is bland and sloppy. I will never go there again! Truly sad.

Scouting for an Italian pizzeria after church, I found Romeo’s place, decided to order to go! I ended up staying and eating in! My first dish was a most Excellent chicken piccata!!! Best I’ve had in years, and I’ve had it from CA to FL, I’m telling you, this was THE BEST CK PIC!!! By far!!! I also ordered an ‘Insalata Caprese’ and lentil soup!!! Delish!!! I’m so glad I tried this restaurant, I will be returning as a happy customer and compliments to the chef and great service with a smile!!!

Good food but lackluster service. Our group was constantly waiting on requests like refills, extra napkins, etc. I wouldn’t say it was the waitress’s fault, they just seemed understaffed which is probably a management problem. She kept apologizing The place was fully packed and only had 3 waitresses although they had a manager type walking around asking each table how everything was. If I had been him I think I would have noticed my staff was struggling and jumped in to help. Stuffed Pizza and Garlic Knots were very good. I also ordered the small Antipasto Salad which was a very large portion and delicious. I probably only needed it but was expecting much less. Get some more staff in there to handle the crowd and this isn’t a bad place.

Romeo’s Pizza and Pasta was a delightful experience. The restaurant was very spacious and accommodated our party of 9. My wife and I started with some garlic knots that were delivered with plenty of sauce on the side and then progressed into an 18″ pizza. We ordered half cheese and half sausage.
The wait time for the pizza was about 20 minutes, but we had a large party. The pizza came out as a whole sausage pizza. The waitress quickly noticed the mistake. She came back and said that we would keep the extra large sausage pizza and she would provide us with a free 12″ cheese pizza for the mishap. We were completely fine with it, due to being in no rush.
Our check for the 18″ pizza, cup of coffee, and a root beer was $ 20. I was very pleased with the service and the pizza. The pictures will show the style of New York pizza they serve.

Didn’t try the pizza. The antipasto was weird, the lettuce tasted bitter. The waitress was inept and not very helpful. The stromboli was decent. Maybe if it were actually owned by Italians it would be better?

New owners and the quality of the food has gone down drastically. Ordered pizza and wings the other day and pizza toppings were light and the wings had to have been left over from the day before. They were way over cooked. So much so they were almost black. Did not realize that the place was under new ownership until that day.
Used to eat there 2 – 3 times a month. Won’t be going back and I am sure they will be out of business soon. Sad to see such a great restaurant destroyed by people that do not have a clue as clearly the new owners do not.

I see that my previous review was mysteriously deleted after I explained in detail how rude the staff is there, and lazy. Do yourself a favor and don’t eat here, unless you want rude waitresses to NOT wait on you, while the new owner does nothing about it.

Pizza — 5 stars
I’m partial to NY style pizza cut into huge slices that you pretty much have to fold in order to eat. The pizza they serve here is the closest I’ve been able to get to NY style so far in Lakeland. The toppings are generous, the ratio of cheese to sauce is perfect, and the size of a pizza pie is definitely adequate. Love their pizza! Their garlic knots are a little on the greasy side but they’re definitely loaded with garlic and butter, which is great for us garlic and butter lovers.
Pasta dinners — 2 stars
Basically I only come here for pizza, because their pasta leaves a lot to be desired. I expect the pasta at an authentic Italian place to be above average at the very least. Here it was just plain old pasta and sauce, nothing special — like if you pour a jar of Ragu on top of your spaghetti noodles — basically that’s what I’m talking about. I’ve had better pasta at chain restaurants like Olive Garden.

The best pizza in North Lakeland! We have never been disappointed with our order. The XL pizzas are huge! The garlic knots are extremely flavorful and the calzones are awesome as well. The counter service has never been bad. I would definitely recommend this place for pizza night.

The food and service has drastically decreased in the past year. We used to go a few times a week now will never go back. We were told that we couldn’t order pepperoni pizza after waiting more than 15 minutes to order take out at the front. The new owners are terrible they can’t retain staff and will fight with them about pay in front of customers. Very disappointed with the entire experience.

Looking for something after a Tigers game & this was perfect! Great food. Service was great.

AUTHENTIC DELICIOUS NY STYLE ITALIAN FOOD! Wonderful service and food. Nice and quiet and clean and not too pricey! Will deff be going back!

I have been here several times in the past with the old owners and again with the new owners. Tonight they had issues with getting the food to the correct tables. Food is still delicious. I think they need Gordon Ramsey ’ s help with organization.

This place was SUPERB!!! Don’t leave Lakeland without making a visit. The owner and staff are fabulous. If you leave here hungry then it’s your own fault. Not only is the food great, the portions are HUGE… Can you say «Let’s Share.» Nice comfortable diner type atmosphere. Didn’t indulge in dessert, but it looked scrumptious.
