My puppy agrees, this park is top dog! Even when it’s crowded by the entrance where the benches are, it’s easy to feel at one with nature by taking a long loop walk through the trees and over the stream. Your dog will love it here and be nice and tired by the time he comes home! :)

This is a fantastic dog park. The entrance has a spacious grassy area where a lot of dogs congregate and play. There is a communal dog water fountain and plentiful poop bags(the front area is the only area where bags are stationed, so grab a few before you start exploring. A small bathroom for people. Picnic tables are interspersed throughout the park, but are primarily in the front part. The rest of the dog park is mostly tall, grassy savannah. The tall grass is mowed to create different trails that join together. My dogs love exploring the different trails and I really love walking and taking in the pretty scenery, which changes through the seasons. There is a small stream that many dogs play in. The majority of dog owners are friendly and responsible. I have small dogs and have had a few negative experiences with owners of larger breed dog owners who do not control their overly excited pups, even after we have politely asked. This is a rare occurrence. Most dogs are well behaved and owners are quite attentive. No serious issues and you can usually spot potential issues from pretty far away. ***note, there are no small dog areas, which is really the only downside of this place

This is a great dog park. You can get a annual pass our by by visit. Just put money in an envelope in the entrance. Easy. There is fresh water also at the front in the park asking with picnic benches, if you want to sit while your dogs run and socialize. The are also great walking paths! You can take longer our shorter walks, too.

Dogs love to be leash free! This is a great place for that. They are very strict on their permit policy and a day pass to take your pooch there for an hr or so is $ 5. Doesn’t break the bank but it doesn’t seem feasible to dish out $ 5 bucks each time you want your dog to be leash free for a walk. Haven’t looked into a yearly pass for this park yet but I’m assuming it’s something ridiculous as well. They do provide poop bags & trash cans every where which is a plus.

Duck Farm is one of the three dog parks I usually frequent with my dogs. If you are a resident of Lake County, and you have an annual dog permit(recommend for significant savings if you plan to frequent any of the LC dog parks) there is no additional cost to enter the park. If you do not have the annual permit, you can pay five dollars per dog, per day. There are pay boxes at the entrance to the gated area where you can either pay your daily permit fee, or record your license and annual permit number(permit stickers are required on your vehicle as well, if annual). Here’s a link with more information regarding permits: It’s got a fairly good-sized gravelly/dirt parking lot with double gates at the entrances so that you can safely leash or unleash your dog. Dogs may be off leash– freedom! Near the front entrances are some waterspouts for the dogs to drink from, a «bathroom»(I use this term lightly, I’ve never actually been in there) for the humans to do their business, doggy bags, and a few picnic tables under trees, as well as one or two picnic tables scattered throughout the rest of the property. The layout is basically four sectioned off, but connected prairie pastures with some wooded areas between, as well as a creek running through it. It may not offer a variety of pathways to take like some other parks, but the wide open grassy setup offers an extensive area in which to exercise your dog. However, even the trails here are not very gravelly; most are worn down grass paths, so when it’s been raining, be prepared for quite a bit of mud on you and on your pup. Have a towel on hand for quick and easy clean up. Pet owners I’ve encountered have always been nice here; I’ve never had any problems. People seem to be pretty good about cleaning up after their dog, leashing them when they need to, and generally are not too annoyed with my obnoxious dog. :) Although it is not my favorite dog park, it is a very good dog park. It basically lays between the Lakevilla District Library and Grande Jake’s, so drop off your overdue books on the way(or is that just me), and on the way back, pick up some tasty Mexican food(don’t you need that Unilocal Mexi-can badge?) at Grande Jake’s. You’ve played hard today with your pups. You’ve earned it. ;)
