I just stayed at Whispering Pines this past weekend in Lake Placid. I’ve been up here multiple times, but never camped-and for a last minute trip, and $ 25.00 camping fee, this sounded perfect. I don’t do these reviews a lot(mostly b/c I’m not super picky with where I stay), but wanted to put a good word in for Whispering Pines for a couple of reasons. A) the location is great-especially if you are doing any hiking at the Adirondack Loj(it’s also really close to Cascade/Porter/Pitchoff). B) The girl at the check out was super friendly, which doesn’t always happen. The campsite was pretty bare boned, and she was(unnecessarily) apologetic, especially when I found out they’d just opened July 20th. Her family had just purchased the campsite and are getting it going, and she seemed genuinely excited for possibly winterizing the cabins and getting a XC ski trail going. It’s always cool to see people genuinely excited for running a travel related business. I hope they do well and would definitely stay here again.
