We ended up here for NYE dinner because we couldn’t get a reservation at other restaurants and wanted to escape the crowds. I had the haddock special. The fish was overcooked and not good. They did bring homemade chicken soup and bread before the meal. That was good. The kids had plain ravioli, and you can’t really go wrong with that. The wine list was a good value. The décor and ambiance is outdated, and the crowd was an older one.

Having enjoyed this restaurant 4 years ago, my family’s return visit(summer 2015) — proved to be WONDERFULAGAIN! – Seems that going out for dinner in Lake Placid, can get pricey… but: The Cascade Inn’s dinners INCLUDE delicious soups AND ample salads. Our family of four adults enjoyed a diverse menu of steaks, seafood and Italian. — Everyone was pleased with their meal & appreciative of the attentive service. (…BTW: we were in the neighboring town of Saranac Lake & our waitress there told us the best place for dinner in Lake Placid is the Cascade Inn. Seems the locals know where to find a good meal amid all the tourist spots!)

This is restaurant is connected to a small motel so parking might be challenging if you arrive during dinner time and everybody is back from the slopes. I would Group this restaurant into a category of a diner with diner quality food. Overpriced.

If I could give 6 stars I would. Best food in a long time, staff are great, like having an extended family dinner at a family gathering and staying at their place. Motel is okay for the price, not the Grand Hotel Excelsior but rooms and beds were clean. I would definitely go back if anything else for the restaurant. Even the breakfast the next day was great!

The Cascade Inn Restaurant is fantastic! It’s about 5 miles outside of «downtown» Lake Placid and the outside looks a bit deceiving(it looks more like a motor inn… which it also is… than a fine restaurant). But once you enter it’s all uphill from there. It’s actual quite large and has a very nice, dark” ambience. From the moment we sat down we were warmly greeted by a humble waitress who we were able to hold friendly conversations with throughout our entire dinner. She was incredibly nice and professional(and knew the menu inside and out). But most importantly the food was TERRIFIC(I had the Delmonico Steak, which was great) and their prices are significantly better than the vast majority of the downtown restaurants. E. g, our Calamari appetizer(which was very good) was only $ 6.95, vs. $ 10+ at the five other downtown places we had eaten at previously. As a bonus all main course dinners come with soup, salad, and endless rolls. The soup our night was an incredibly tasty tomato basil soup. I highly recommend this gem and we will be repeat visitors!

Cascade Inn Restaurant is another Lake Placid Favorite! You will never be disappointed with a meal there. It’s consistent quality and service that is a rare find in this day in age. From the moment you walk in you are greeted warmly and the restaurant has a charming romantic but yet family friendly feel. The fireplace room is great and there are menu options to suit all tastes. A favorite would be the Delmonico Steak. All of their dinners come with soup, salad, and rolls. The prices are great, and you won’t find a better hidden gem in Lake Placid. Definitely a MUSTEAT when visiting Lake Placid.

Brought friends/family here for dinner it was good! Good food good service although seating is awkward… Tables next to the wait station are unattractive as are the ones next to the restrooms… All in all 3.5 out of 5 Good food overall… nice establishment. Went here with out of town friends and we were put in a side room away from everyone and next to the wait station when there was an available table in front of the fireplace in the main dining room. We were told it was reserved but it stayed unoccupied for the 3 hours we were there. Not very accommodating when we asked to move but overall good service and food. Prime rib was great!
