«So many books, so little time.» ― Frank Zappa I stop by Three Dollar Book Sale every time I drive down to Florida. Sometimes I get a basket full, sometimes an armful, sometimes just one, but I never leave empty handed. Books range from .49 up to $ 3, and there are A LOT of books! There are signs that say that all the profits are given to Emory University, Holland M. Ware Cancer Research Laboratories. Read books, do good.

I love book stores but this one wasn’t worth the visit. It’s divided into two actual stores and it’s a little hard to find even with GPS. I went into the first location which is called ‘Book Sale.’ There was only one customer and after a few minutes, I was the only one. I browsed and no one ever greeted. When I asked if they had any African-American books, he barked that they are at the ‘Book Warehouse’ on the other end of the parking lot. Okay… I went down to the Book Warehouse and they had much friendlier service. Both stores had low prices. Most books are used library books in good condition for around 99 cents. They also have some 50 cent books no-one would want and some $ 3 books that are newer looking. But the selection is abysmal(not just the African-American books either). There were only a few biographies, mostly of journalists and political pundits. The nonfiction books were also mostly political. There is an extremely limited entertainment and sports section(unless you always wanted to read Reggie Jacksons bio). There were some textbooks, quite a few Christian books and some fiction titles. I’m glad the proceeds go towards cancer but I’d rather make a donation and shop at a thrift store or a local library book sale.

On every driving trip back from Florida I stop at this bookstore and the other bookstore almost next door in the same strip mall. This place has new(never used) but discontinued older books. I forget if it includes used books. But they are great deals. This store is secular books of all sorts, fiction, non-fiction, technical, etc. Included are children’s books and children’s activity stuff that you find in bookstores. Includes some books-on-tape, books-on-cd. The books are on big pieces of plywood supported by saw-horses, so it’s kind of a warehouse deal. If you shop at one store, you get a discount coupon for the other store. It goes both ways, so don’t buy everything on one stop, go next door, use your coupon there, get another coupon, and come back here to finish up. If you’re a book-lover or a fan of independent bookstores, you owe it to yourself to stop and browse if you are driving by on I-75. It’s just ½ block from the Interstate highway. The other store is a Christian/religious/spiritual/inspirational bookstore. I was last here in November 2009.
